  • It was on the beach.

“My grandparents were very generous to my new wife and me and gave us a time share to use for our honeymoon. We ended up at the coral reef resort. I'll tell you the good first. The room has everything you need, fridge, oven, utensils, two sinks (+ kitchen sink). It is also right on the beach, which is nice. Elevators and stairs (stairs are faster by the way). They are remodeling right now. One building is finished, and looks pretty good. The rest is a nasty pink color and is abandoned. The place looks pretty trashy when you drive in. The pools were nice- a large freeform, a heated pool, and 3 hot tubs. Now to the issues, when we showed up and checked in we were sent to a room on the corner of the 4 story (there is a 6 story and a 4 story, and a 2 story hotel that is abandoned looking, which was nice for privacy actually, less of a crowd at the pool.). Our room was on the corner of the building that they were still working on, so there was scaffolding up all around it, front and side. We liked the windows (you get more on a corner) and we didn't figure we'd be looking out of them much, so we decided to ignore the scaffolding. Mistake #1. When we walked in, much to our surprise, the couch, chair, and bedspread were all a nice design of the same nasty pink, some bright blue, green and yellow colored pattern. Gross, but we made due by covering the couch with the spare blanket in the closet. All was good Monday and Tuesday, and then Wednesday morning we awoke at about 8 am to the sound of drills and hammers literally on the wall out side of our room, right out side of the window, right next to our bed. At first it was terrifying, then annoying, and soon we had really bad headaches. I mean it was loud! So I ran down to the office to see what we could do to remedy the situation. As soon as I stepped into the office and explained the situation (I think I was fairly nice about it) the lady behind the desk (dark hair, bit of a north-eastern accent, and attitude) told me, "well we aren't going to make them stop if that¿s what you want!" I explained that we needed to do something, move if possible. She snapped at me and later said something like they would call me when they found something. I explained to her that we were leaving to go to bush gardens soon, and she said,¿ well do you want to move or don't you?" I told her we just wanted out of the room ASAP, it was loud. She gave me a look, and I just stared at her for a few minutes. The other girl piped up that a room was free, and that we could move into it. We received the room keys and got out of there, but I have never been so disrespected by an establishment so much as I have at the coral reef resort. They should not have put us in the first room to begin with, knowing that they would be working on it all week, and shouldn't have given me such a hard time when trying to fix the situation. One nice thing though is that it is in good walking distance of some decent restaurants (as are some much nicer places surrounding the coral reef) such as snappers, right across the street. I definitely recommend that restaurant. ”
