“I was not impressed with this property. The juice machine was broken on our first morning of breakfast. The manager watched one person after another try getting juice from the machine without saying a word. He didn't even bother to put an out of order sign on it. I bought food to grill on the property only to be told by the front desk that the grill was not available for use. The pool was cloudy and unkempt looking. The Jacuzzi had no water and looked like a sewer. Apparently the grounds are scheduled for new lighting. There were cement slabs with bolts and wires sticking out all over the property. My 10 year old daughter tripped and fell over one of them. The basketball/volleyball/tennis court was a mess. The volleyball net was broken and hanging low and basketball backboard had a broken and hanging rim. There were missing plastic tiles all over the court. There was grass growing on it. All in all, a property that has great potential if run properly, but as it is, not a property that I'd consider a quality Hawthorne property.”

“I was amazed when I entered the room. It had a dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave and stove. The cabinets were stocked with pots, pans, plates, silverware and various kitchen utensils. The decor was a bit outdated, but for the features and price, it was acceptable.”

“This hotel was more than we expected. The suites were spacious and recently renovated. The staff was helpful and friendly. The breakfast buffet had a great variety. The complex and pool areas were well maintained. I would definitely go back again. We felt that it was good value for the price. It is not 4 star hotel, but great for a family who wants to travel on a budget and have a clean, spacious place to stay. The kitchenette is a bonus to save on eating out costs.”

“This is a former Marriott Residence Inn that has been taken over by Hawthorn. They are updating and renovating throughout the entire property. It has fallen into slight disrepair but is being fixed up again. (July, 2008).”

“While this is by no means a new hotel, I was pleasantly surprised for the money. My GPS took me right to the front door, but it might be a little difficult to find for some. Nice & quiet, and the ability to make home-cooked meals in the kitchen made it especially attractive!”

“Overall, the hotel was quite nice for the money paid. The staff was very nice but I did not like that I had to walk outside every time we needed something. Also, just as a side note to the potential visitor, the hotel has been there since the early 80's, perhaps they mean newly painted lobby.”

“This is no 2½-star hotel. The other 21/2.-star hotels in Southfield are the Courtyard and Spring Hill Suites. Both of those hotels are far better than this old apartment complex renovated into a motel.”

“This was, at one point, a very nice hotel but due to the apparent lack of maintenance, it now leaves a lot to be desired. The staff however, was friendly and helpful.”
