Super 8 Motel-Romulus/Detroit Area
Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[8] • Location:[9]

  • Received an extra pillow when asked.
  • Continental breakfast could at least had a efficient toaster.

“Beds were comfortable, bathrooms were clean, room quite considering it was near the airport. A good value for the money.”

Cleanliness:[4] • Staff:[7] • Location:[9]

  • Double beds, shuttle service.
  • Sheets were stained, dim lighting in bathroom, not a very healthy/tasty breakfast, hallways & room smelled of smoke.

“Will probably not stay at this hotel in the USA for lack of quality and care. Have stayed at this hotel in Canada and had a very positive experience - no smell of smoke anywhere, appropriate lighting in bathroom, and a good breakfast.”

Cleanliness:[3] • Staff:[1] • Location:[7]

  • Location close to the airport.
  • Callous staff and a generally terrible experience.

“My 63 year old mother stayed here unexpectedly when she was bumped from a flight. She suddenly became quite ill, and was unable to leave the bed. When she stopped answering my calls the second day she was sick, I called the front desk at 8 p.m. Detroit time. I explained that I was calling from Southern California, my mother was sick, at their property, was traveling alone, was too weak to leave the bed and that she'd had nothing to eat since approximately noon the previous day. I asked him to please check on her, and to bring her a piece of fruit from the hotel's breakfast options, or something from the vending machine; I would happily pay whatever costs were incurred. The desk clerk told me that he was the only employee at the hotel at that time and that he could not leave the desk for any reason. Despite my explanations and entreaties, he refused to check on her. He even refused to give me the general manager's phone number when I calmly suggested that we call him/her to get permission for him to leave the desk. When I asked who is called in an emergency, he said, "No one - we wait until morning" and suggested I do the same. Ultimately, I ended up calling the Romulus police, who were finally able to get my mother on the telephone, but, of course, could not go out to bring her anything to eat. Whether callous, lazy, or stupid, the treatment we received at this hotel was the most appalling I have ever experienced. This was truly an emergency situation, yet the desk clerk's only interest was in ensuring the front desk was staffed. This is not a customer service issue - it's an issue of compassion and plain old common sense. I urge everyone to stay away from this place until they grow a heart and some brains.”

  • It was a convenient location.
  • The staff.

“The staff were very rude. He refused to speak English in my presence. I had to have his daughter interpret for me, but he understood every word I said in English.”

Cleanliness:[7] • Staff:[1] • Location:[10]

  • Location was great, so close to the Airport, room was comfortable but really clean.
  • Staff, owner's daughter was very rude and yelled at me when I asked for a copy of the document that I signed and she said that I could not read it.

“Location is great being so close to the Airport, the room was alright, could have been cleaned a little better. But the owner's daughter has no business being a check in clerk. She was extremely rude and even yelled at me. I had a person drop me off at the motel and was a witness to this. I signed a document that she did not want me reading and did not want to give me a copy, I told her that I was entitled to a copy of whatever I sign. I had asked for a 5:00 am wake up call and I told the Peron that dropped me off that I felt I would not get the wake up call, so I also set mobile phone alarm, and it was a good thing that I did, because I never received the wake up call and the shuttle to the airport that I requested for 6:30am did not show up till 6:50am. All in all not a good experience.”
