“It was a special weekend and the condition of the hotel really put a damper on it. We didn't even feel safe to go down to the pool - which was in the basement.”

“The bad: This was definitely not a three star hotel. This is an old building which has seen one too many coats of paint. The mattress and box spring were stained beyond belief, the hotel and room smelled bad, the wireless internet was incredibly slow. I feel strongly that this hotel did not deserve its 3-star rating. I would rate this hotel 1-1/2-stars. Molding falling off corners. Wooden door in disrepair. Wallpaper peeling off bathroom wall. The good: Quiet during our weekday stay. We were upgraded to two queen beds at no extra charge. Air conditioning worked very well. Good water pressure. Carpet in the room was very soft (double padded). Ample parking. Overall, our stay wasn't horrible, but definitely not worthy of the three stars.”

“For the price of the hotel it was not what I expected, it was very large felt like a hospital, rooms were large but overall it was not a hotel I would recommend or go back to, parking was in a huge lot and could not see from your room, very old looking smelling and old overall, beds were uncomfortable it just needs a lot of updating!”

“The hotel was very old and dirty. The furniture was damaged and beds were stained. The towels were also dirty and stained. There were visible stains on the walls in the bathroom. Not at all what I would have expected from a 3 star hotel. I thought with it being a Holiday Inn, it would be nice. This hotel was a definite disappointment and I would certainly not stay there in future. I would definitely not consider this a 3 star hotel.”

“The hotel is old, I can live with that but it was also filled with FFA members. There were also two other groups using the hotel. There was no place to park, had to park the car in a gravel lot and walk.”

“I'm a perks member and love Holiday Inn Expresses (and usually Holiday Inns). I have never given a negative review to a Holiday Inn. But this is by far the worst at which I've stayed. Also, you have to park across the street. Guest service was okay. However, the room I was a moldy dump and was a disgrace to the Holiday Inn hotel chain. The dresser was basically caved-in scrap wood. The poor TV was fastened to but hanging on the edge of it and pointed to the floor. The desk was almost as bad. Curtain rope and pulley had been torn from the wall. Water temperature was temperamental. Shampoo bottle appeared to just be a refill. The headboard of the bed was the wall, and the air conditioner would make a loud thump before kicking on and rattling for about 15 minutes, basically ensuring lots of interrupted sleep. I called to complain about these things and asked to change rooms. I was given an apology and was told all the rooms were about the same. When I went to breakfast to use my coupon redeemable for one breakfast, I didn't notice the fine print that said maximum value $7.95. Of course, there was almost nothing on the menu less than that; more fine print: gratuity not included. When I got back to the room that evening, I called to cancel my final night. I gave the man my reasons. Overall, a very nasty experience. Bottom line: If you have a meeting there, you should be okay, but stay somewhere else!”

“The hotel is a far cry from a 3-star hotel. Surrounding businesses are boarded up, the parking lot is in the back of the hotel and partially unpaved. Poor lighting outside; felt very unsafe. The rooms are trashy, carpet filthy. Looks like nothing has been done to it in the past 25 years.”

“The Lansing Holiday Inn offers easy access to local food, stores and highways. Although the hotel is looking a bit tired (like many Holiday Inns). The staff was very friendly and responsive. On premises, food was good and not overly expensive. Of course you have the facilities that appeal to families (pool, etc). If you need to bring the family to Lansing, the Holiday Inn should serve you well.”

“Generally run down appearance outside the lobby areas. Would not have considered this a 3 star hotel. Significant traffic noise for those bedrooms facing the street (trucks, buses, honking, etc).”

“If you are not part of a convention at this Convention Center hotel, it has no charm. Rooms need some freshening-up (peeling wallpaper, new bathroom caulk), but the hot-water thing was a clincher. None at 5:30 in the morning, none at 9 a.m.”

“The room was just that roomy, not cramped at all and well arranged. The rooms were quiet and I didn't hear neighbors or much hall noise. The room was comfortable and had a fine view and the hotel was very pleasant and clean. The hotel is very convenient right off the freeway and close to major shopping and dining. Some items were updated in the last few years while others needed updating but were not at all in bad shape.”

“I was very disappointed with my stay here. Beds were sunken in, faucets were leaky, there were horrible odors of sewage and marijuana in the halls. Seating in the main lobby were also old and sunken and there were no tables for placing drinks, materials on. The location was bad with limited restaurants in the area, service in the dining room was slow. The same people we saw vacuuming hallways were the ones serving us food in the dining room. While I was in a non-smoking room, the room smelled of smoke and had many cigarette burns in the old, frayed, bedspread. There was zero artwork on the walls and the furniture was broken--drawers did not completely closed and there was a thick layer of dust on the dresser indicating poor cleaning techniques. Water in the bathroom was slow to heat up and the bathroom fixtures are in need of updating. Overall, this was one of the most disappointing hotel stays I've ever had.”

“What this hotel lacks in style and cleanliness, it makes up for with its convenient location. My stay was not unpleasant, but I wouldn't say I'm eager to return either. The room was a nice size, with the exception of the bathroom which was so small that the door opened into the shower, just missing the toilet along the way. The room did have a mini fridge which was nice, but no microwave.”

“While the front desk was great, the hotel does not deserve to be considered as 3 stars. It appears to be one of the chains hotels that need to be sold off or razed and rebuilt. The maids had done all they could to clean the room, but the age, the furnishings, and overall condition made the room depressing. Would not stay there again.”

“The night desk person greeted me with hey Boss "What do you need"? This is after I called for a pillow 2 times and they told me it would be right there. 2nd day my room was not made up, when I returned I called the desk and they were sorry, assured me it would be cleaned in the morning. Sorry to say but my room was not touched the 3rd day, I returned back to my room at 10:30 pm and called the front desk for clean towels and waited 45 minutes and called the desk and cancelled the order for towels.”

“The price was fair. The room was spacious. The room itself was just a bit old: the heating system, carpet and bathroom had that old, damp, dark aspect to it. The bed was nice, the cable & free internet perfect. The staff was friendly and straight-forward. The restaurant food was great.”

“Hotel is passed its prime, and hasn't been well maintained. At one time was probably a 3-star, but with lack of maintenance, calling it a 2 1/2 is be gracious.”
