“This did not seem like a Holiday Inn, windows were not clean, they need to rebuild it because the building did not seem redone, and not worth the money they charge. Breakfast was cold and not worth the money. I would not stay here again.”

“The lobby looked nice but the rooms needed some plumbing attention. The staff could a bit friendlier especially coming in the evening. Thought it would have a lot nicer.”

“The historic setting for this hotel is wonderful. The lobby, the dining facilities, the museums, and rose gardens in the court yard are all incredible. All of the rooms in the building we stayed in overlooked the pool, and were furnished quite nicely. This was far more than I expected when I booked the room.”

“The hotel could be a real gem but it is looking a little tired around the edges. The staffs were friendly and attentive. I was disappointed with the restaurants - the chicken dish I chose was raw in places, the breakfast buffet did not included coffee or orange juice and there was no choice of freshly cooked eggs.”

“The hotel is safe but the neighborhood around it is not. There is security to handle the situation.”

“I enjoy staying at the Choo Choo on a regular basis. Their amenities are above average, including some tourist-y attractions due to the historic nature of the site. My sole complaint is that there is no heated walkway between the various buildings.”

“Great value. The swimming pool outside our room was larger than most hotels. Of course we didn't use it in Feb.”

“Our room was 50 degrees when we checked in and after turning the heat up all night the temperature was 60. This was mainly because the heaters in the hallway was either broken or turned off and the room had a large sliding glass door. The upside was our diet cokes stayed cold just by placing them next to the door. We could actually see our breath in the hallway. The beds had two sheets and a very thin, light weight comforter. We requested three blankets and the staff sent two, one of which was full of holes. Also, the entrance doors to the building do not require a key so anyone can enter at anytime. The hotel is not in the best area of town so we were very nervous about the doors. The bathroom was not clean, the shower was either too hot or too cold and the toilet required two flushes.”

“Neat location in downtown Chattanooga although it's further from the main attractions than other hotels in the area. The buildings are old and even though we stayed in building 3 which is the most recently remodeled building, it's not a top quality room as compared to the other downtown hotels.
Beds were hard and linens were rough. Room was clean and thankfully the thermastat worked great (one of my biggest complaints is window units that wake you up with either frozen toes or sweating because they never shut off). Downside to building 3 is there are only elevators on one side of the building so if you are on the other end, you either have to walk around the entire building or across the breezeway (not fun in the winter).”

“The hotel claims to be what it is not. It is located in a bad part of town far away from the tourist attractions of Chattanooga. The rooms need deep cleaning. The air is muggy and smells on mold, except in the hallways where I think they use the same type of airfreshiner as funeral homes. I was scared to use the shower with bare feet. I would compare this hotel to a motel 6 or super 8.”

“The staff was very friendly. The public spaces were beautiful. We especially loved the water, pool, hot tub, & waterfall areas. The lobby had a gorgeous high ceiling. The train station was cool and it was neat seeing this historic site. We were, however, disappointed with our room. The bed was too firm and uncomfortable. We didn't sleep well because of this and we woke up with our backs hurting the next day. There was no refrigerator in the room. It was our anniversary and we brought drinks we wanted to chill. Also, we had a very difficult time finding our room. The receipt we were given had a cryptic 10 digit or so alphanumeric character on it & we spent quite some time lugging around our heavy luggage looking for the room. We had to eventually find hotel staff who gave us directions to our room. The restaurant inside the hotel was overpriced and not that good. We ate breakfast there for $9.75 each and the food tasted as if it had been sitting there a while. We won't stay at The Choo Choo again.”

“Spent 4 nights in building 2 it was nasty, stunk of mild smoke etc. Pool was cold and looked dirty, didn't use it because it looked so nasty. Then spent 1 night in building 3. It was like going to a whole different hotel chain. The room was very nice, pool looked great, even different TV channels in building 3. I really like the ease of hotel food, shopping & bus that was free to take around town. When the renovation is done, this would be a great place to take your kids if they love trains. We are hoping to return next year and see how the renovations worked out. If you go ask to be in building 3. If you don't get in building 3 then go there to go swimming, kind of a lazy river looking pool with hot tub in middle and a water fall.

“The hotel was perfect for any traveler. The renovations that are yet to be completed, were great and it appears will make it even better once completed. I would love to visit them again.”

“This is a very old and run down hotel. The front desk tried to make it better, but the whole place is run down. I hope you really read this note.”

“If you like trains, this is the hotel you must stay in. The lobby is an old Chattanooga railway hall. A handful of rail passenger cars have been converted into modern hotel rooms. Along the sidewalk are gas lights. Dinner in the dining car is reasonably priced.”
