“This is a very well maintained up-scale hotel. Elegantly decorated through-out and a very responsive and helpful staff.”

“The hotel is in a great location but the front staff is not friendly, the rooms are very small espescially the bathreooms. When you enter the room there is a huge cabinet you can barely open the door. Going to breakfast Tueaday the 14th I ordered scrambled eggs they came back dark and crusty, took a bite almost threw up and within minutes the cook walked out on the hotel. They couldnt make any breakfast because of that, the guy was rude who was waiting on me. Who the heck rated this hotel a four star!”

“It's very close to all downtown Indy attractions (mall, convention center and restaurants) however the rooms are
very small and in need of maintenance and upgrades. This was more like a 3 1/2 star hotel not a 4 star. Priceline should consider a down grade on stars. Not what I expected in a 4 star hotel.”

“It is small, cramped and offers few amenities that you expect. The room is so scant that I may have missed something. The room temperature control had no thermostat, so room comfort was a guess. I spent restless nights, either too hot or too cold as I tried to make sense of the system. I doubt I will stay again.”

“Beautiful hotel, convenient location to downtown attractions, shopping, restaurants, and nightclubs. The staff is friendly but not enough of them. I'd call the front desk, concierge, and laundry but the phone would just ring with no answer.”

“The hotel was in a great location and was a very nice small hotel. The staff has no sense in how to deal with customers. I received a 4:00 am wake up call, I was not expecting. The morning crew was indifferent to this lack of service and professionalism. I will go out of my way to tell people to stay away from the Canterbury.”

“This restaurant feels like it is an older historical hotel that has been beautifully remodeled to respect its historical value. It is very romantic and the staff work to make sure that you are very comfortable.”

“Probably an okay place to stay if on business and in/out of downtown, or a couple. Rooms getting dated (not charming). Food was not of good quality at all. Very nice people.”

“This is a full-service hotel meaning that if you want something you can request it and they will bring it to you but if you are used to self-service such as ice machines or soft drink machines, they do not have them. Room service has to bring ice. Beautiful hotel - just not used to the full-service option. Great for a getaway though.”

“This hotel is not even close to a four star. In fact I am convinced that it is not even a good three. I repeat, this hotel is not a four star and never will be. Please re-evaluate your rating it is all wrong.”

“I tried to keep an open mind when I first walked into the lobby but it only got worse when you arrived at the tired and dated room. It may have been a four star hotel in its day but its day has come and gone.”

“Billed as a top hotel in Indiana, it's totally overrated. The rooms were small. We couldn't get hot water for three days and the staff blamed the fact that the hotel was built in 1840. There wasn't a gym or pool or even ice available (without calling room service). The internet connection did not work. The decor was dated and I don't mean in a nice, antique way.”

“I could live with it if I was on my own but my wife's apprehension absolutely ruined what was supposed to be a romantic getaway. We actually spent our short free time scouting for a different hotel with vacancy (to no avail). The only 4-star quality about hotel is location. There was a dirty glass outside our door the entire stay, despite our giving the front desk manager a written request to have it picked up. Some staff seemed neutral at best while most seemed perturbed to be there.”

“Prefer the other 4 star hotels downtown, is a nice hotel if you like older buildings and their charm and atmosphere.”

“The room we were given was very small, 1 queen size bed, a wardrobe for a closet, a TV cabinet with extra drawers, a table, an arm chair and a straight back chair and 2 end tables, hardly room to move in the room and the bathroom was a 1 person bathroom unless one was in the shower. It is an older hotel and short in comparison to towering buildings around it so there is not much of a view. It was very clean and the staff were almost too attentive. We went to celebrate our anniversary and were "christening" the room and were interrupted twice, once by phone asking if we were checking out - we had just checked in and then 5 minutes later by someone trying to enter our room to check our mini bar and again we had just checked in and we always give our mini bar key back at check in. Needless to say, that kind of ruined the mood and there were no robes for cover. After that initiation, the stay was rather pleasant, except the bed needed its bolts tightened, it sqeaked everytime you even turned over in your sleep. There was no pool, or hot tub and though it was lovely in the common areas I would not consider this a 4 star in comparisons to the others on the list of 4 stars downtown. We were able to find street parking on a weekend so did not use the valet service. We really didn't use any service at all. We went to have a night away from the kids and go to the Fringe Theater Festival and had a marvelous time. I would stay there again.”
