  • Location.
  • The restaurant in the hotel was not the best.

“Great location, walking distance to great restaurants, Starbucks in the lobby.”

  • Quality and comfortable - consistently Marriott!
  • I have to pay $10 for internet service.

“Marriott is always predictably comfortable and great quality amenities.”

  • The hotels location next to the South Bend Chocolate Factory was a plus.
  • I did not like that I had to pay for parking.

“The room was clean and the view of the river was wonderful. The fact that it is located next to the South Bend Chocolate Factory was just an extra plus. It was in walking distance of numerous restaurants and very easy to get to.”

  • The room was great and the bed was very comfortable.
  • The wait staff at breakfast made me feels very bad that we did not have a lot of money to spend.

“We had to stay away from our house due to sewer problems and not having any water in the house. Everyone was nice until checkout morning. I had to take my daughter to school, stopped to get breakfast, ordered the only thing I could afford on the menu, and the waitress made us feel terrible. I tried to ignore it, but my daughter she is 10 was visibly upset and wanted to just leave without eating. I have never been treated so badly in my life. Then no one had told us we had to buy a parking pass, so I had some problems getting out. They did take care of that after I came back to the hotel, before I checked out. Its just too bad the waitress had to ruin a good stay.”

  • It didn't catch on fire while I was there.
  • Parking expensive, poor housekeeping service, charge for internet service that should be free.

“This is a typical "three star" hotel that thinks it can charge its captive audience for the air that they breathe. I wish I could buy it for what it is worth and sell it for what it thinks it is worth. I'd make a fortune. They will soon institute a towel folding charge, I think. Shame on hotels that charge for internet service. Shame, shame, shame!”

Cleanliness:[10] • Staff:[7] • Location:[9]

  • The hotel is very clean and located centrally. The restaurant is good and moderately priced.
  • The maid kept knocking despite a do not disturb sign, Internet use was expensive.

“The hotel is very modern, located together with a bank building and the College Football Hall of Fame. A huge atrium connects the buildings. The restaurant is an Irish-style pub. The hotel has all the necessary amenities. It is unfortunate that the hotel charges for the use of its business center and use of the internet costing 99 cents per minute.”

Cleanliness:[5] • Staff:[7] • Location:[8]

  • Comfort of the beds.
  • Not worth the money. Small rooms and out dated.

“My stay was o.k. We stayed at the comfort suites hotel 2 nights before and I would highly recommend that hotel before the Marriot. The rooms we old and small. They charge you $8.00 a night for parking without telling you. No free breakfast, It is very expensive! The only good thing about the hotel it the beds!”

Staff:[8] • Location:[9]

  • Gorgeous room with spectacular view of St. Joseph River.
  • My room key card kept getting accidentally deactivated by my cell phone/credit card.

“This is my new favorite hotel when visiting my daughter at Notre Dame. It was very luxurious and just minutes from everything we wanted to do: visit campus, shop in Mishawaka, and eat out. It's also right next door to the College Football Hall of Fame. The hotel restaurant, Sean O'Casey's, was very handy and a fun place to watch the NCAA Mens' BB Tournament.”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[8] • Location:[7]

  • Spacious lobby. Clean, comfortable room and beds.
  • We arrived in leisure clothes and, because of this; I think the front desk staff looked down on us a bit. It was quite noticeable. Shame on you.

“Beautiful hotel on inside. Very comfortable beds. Front desk staff (and bell hop service staff) needs to avoid looking down their noses at guests they think are not the norm for the Marriott experience. There should be security staff on sight in the parking garage. Free internet in lobby, but you wants to charge $10 per day for internet in room. Not a smart business move, especially when you consider we had free internet in room previous nights (in a Marriott hotel). Need to rethink that one, folks!”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[9] • Location:[9]

  • Clean friendly staff.
  • Rooms were small.

“A nice clean motel, very friendly staff. It was late when we got back from our basketball tournament but they kept the pool open later for the kids to swim. Had to pay $8.00 to park there did not really seem right to pay for a room and then pay to park in their lot. Over all good places would stay again.”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[9] • Location:[9]

  • Convenient to where I was going.
  • Anyone getting off elevator could see into our room! Had to keep curtains closed.

“Will use again. Don't take a corner room, people getting off the elevators can look right into your room and see you in bed! We had to keep the curtains closed & we like them open to enjoy the view - even if ours was of the atrium & steel beams!”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[7] • Location:[9]

  • Location and exercise rooms excellent.
  • Charged extra for parking and breakfast because I did not book directly with the hotel.

“Dated building and quite generic. Not a bad experience but not a memorable one either.”

Cleanliness:[10] • Staff:[10] • Location:[8]

  • The hotel was very clean and attractive. The hospitality was outstanding.
  • The guest rooms were just a little too small.

“If you are looking to get away and live within an hours drive of South Bend the Marriott is perfect. We only had time for a short get away and The Marriott made us feel like we were on a full extravagant vacation.”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[9] • Location:[9]

  • It was a hotel that kept up with the times and gave you the feeling that you weren't in the middle of nowhere.
  • The ice machine was a little difficult to work with on the seventh floor.

“The Marriott at the South Bend is a hotel unlike any in the area. The rooms as well as the service are impeccable and went above and beyond all my expectations. It is located in a great location in the center of South Bend and also conveniently close to Notre Dame University.”

  • Good price, location, staff.
  • Drink prices in the Irish pub were ridiculous.
