  • The room was very attractive with a flat panel TV, very nice linens and above average furniture and decor.
  • The WiFi was unavailable in my room.

  • The decor of the room was nice.
  • They did not make up my bed or clean the room on the first day.

“I really liked my room and the hotel staff that greeted me, however on the first day, housekeeping was horrible. I was told that they only had 1 person, which is not acceptable. They did not clean the room on the first day. They came a day after two calls were made to pick up old towels and to clean the room. I ate a buffet breakfast and my sausage was raw. There was another group (the omegas) and I believe they were just busy but they should staff accordingly to the number of guests expected. In spite of my experience, I wouldn't mind staying there again. The location was excellent for me.”

  • Compensated for their error by giving food vouchers.
  • Placed in room that wasn't cleaned and took longer than normal to get checked in. I was the only person checking in.

“Desk clerk seemed confused in regards to how to find rooms and then placed us in a room that had not been cleaned. However, upon discovering error, gave breakfast voucher. Overall, the facilities were very nice.”

  • Staff was very friendly.
  • Although we had our "Do Not Disturb" card out for quite a while (because we had no luggage), staff did not attempt to clean our room at all.

“Hotel was very convenient to the airport. Room was fine, but staff never cleaned room. We apparently had our "Do Not Disturb" sign out too long. However, they never asked us about cleaning it. (We had no luggage for a good part of our stay.).”

  • None in this case. I was totally disappointed with my stay.
  • The hotel is not what one expects for a 3-star hotel. It is old. The room was dirty and unacceptable.

“Although the hotel has a brand name franchise, it is an old full service hotel that has not been up kept. I don't have a problem with it being an aged hotel, but it has to be clean and inviting. My main problem is the room was dirty. Upon arrival, I had to take the hand towels to clean the surfaces in the bathroom and the room. The air conditioner was old and released an odor when running. The carpet was dirty - I walked barefooted in the room and when I stepped into the shower, the water showed how "black" my feet. I am totally disappointed with this hotel. It does not come close to being a 3 star rated hotel.”

  • Expensive food in restaurant.

“I did not expect this hotel to be quite this nice. It is freshly remodeled, very clean rooms and we both felt that the staff was extremely polite and friendly from front desk to housekeeping. I would stay there again.”

  • Too far from restaurants and stores.

“Good remodel job, room was nicely decorated, public spaces were nice. Staff was excellent. Location was fair at best because there were no restaurants or stores convenient to the hotel. It was easily accessible to downtown though. Pillows were terrible which hindered sleep, a hardship for a 4 night stay.”

  • New fresh look. Very friendly staff, great bar and restaurant- price right.
  • Limited parking late at night.

“There are not that many great hotels in Birmingham. I was quite surprised when we arrived as to the new look, very friendly staff. They did a great job in the remodel here. Once we sat down at the bar to relax, it was like heaven. We had a few drinks and then had a fairly good meal at the restaurant. We definitely will come back.”

  • The toilet had to be flushed multiple times.

“This is a typical older Holiday Inn high rise. It has been recently remodeled so things like carpet, furniture etc. were in good shape and relatively clean. The windows are old, leaky and let more noise in than they should. The pool was closed due to major work being done but ought to be in nice condition when finished. All of the staff we encountered were friendly enough. Cleaning may not be as thorough as it should be - we found multiple items under/behind furniture that should have been discovered by the maids. It has easy access on and off of I20. Overall not too bad considering the age of the building.”
