  • The room and hotel were clean. The staff friendly. we enjoyed the free continental breakfast.
  • There was no pool though it states it has one. It seems to be under "construction". the parking lot was old and cracked.

“Coming into the hotel is a Little deceiving. The parking lot is cracked and not very pleasant. The pool is under construction and appears to have been for some time.. However, inside the hotel is pleasant and so is the staff. The free continental breakfast was nice also. The beds were comfortable and everything was clean.”

  • Pool out of service and you listed it with a pool.

  • Honestly, not much. I am truly not trying to be negative, but it was not good!
  • Very dirty! Smelled!

“Avoid this particular hotel at all costs! There are several other quality hotels in the area, try them.
This hotel is not one I would recommend. Dirty! The hotel smelled of chemicals used to cover up stains, not remove them!

  • It was conveniently located off the highway and there were many restaurants and activities in the area.
  • Access to the 2nd floor rooms was very difficult, no elevators etc.

  • Not much to tell--needs to be updated a lot.
  • They would not give us 2 beds and I was with another person who was to my husband! It is on our request to have a non-smoking room and we had to say.

  • Convenience to the interstate.
  • The black mold in the shower.

“The last La Quinta I stayed in was in August of 2006 and it was quite nice, hence me being okay with the 2 star level. Apparently nowadays 2-star level means black mold possible in shower. Seriously. For a hotel bathroom that is realistically cleaned several times a week there is absolutely no excuse for that.”

  • The hallway in our wing was smelly/room was good.

“This was a perfect location for our MLB road trip. It was so nice and convenient that on the way home we pulled off and stayed there again.”

  • Parking lot was terrible.

“HVAC unit did not operate, hallways were stinky, everywhere I looked it was dirty, front desk did not answer phone when I called twice, trash/wrapper on floor, front desk area was filthy/grimy, clerk outside was smoking when I arrived, landscape all weeded, garbage cans at entrance ways overflowing. I was real happy to be staying there.”

  • The fact that it was located in Merrillville across the street from the wall is positive.
  • It is old carpeting, old smell, archaic furniture, ripped up parking lot and toilet problems.

“This hotel is rated two stars. This was akin to a flea bag with horrible parking facilities, inoperative television and plumbing, and an odor as though the person before me opted to smoke in a non-smoking room. It was a bad experience.”

  • The staff, other than the manager, was very pleasant. Rooms were large.
  • Hotel was let to run down. A simple fix up and painting would help.

“The pool was poorly maintained. The motel manager was unpleasant, while the rest of the staff was above average in hospitality. The rooms were clean, but needed new carpets and paint.”

  • The sheets were clean.
  • Need a lot more then 20 words.

“This hotel is not a 2 star. This is the 2nd time I have been stuck here in 2 years. Nothing has gotten better, obviously you don't follow up on surveys. Carpet is stained, tub stained, burn marks in non-smoking room, breakfast area was a disaster, employees yelling at each other in hallway first thing in the morning. Very disappointed, again!”

  • Better than expected choices for breakfast, especially the cook-it-fresh-yourself waffles. And pets are allowed!
  • The bedding was a bit stiffer than I would have liked, need fabric softener perhaps?

“Overall, pleased with this location and would stay again. Everything you need, including hospital, is very close by. Breakfast lounge was popular in the morning. Pool was closed until late in the evening, which was a bummer. Plenty of parking for every size vehicle, including a few 18 wheelers at one time.”

  • I liked the bedding to sleep on including sheets and pillows.
  • I did not like the decorations, especially the bed spreads.

  • Staff was friendly and helpful.
  • It was a mess when we got there. They claimed to painting.

“I liked it, but I think I got robbed a little. But the staff was really friendly and I had no problem getting 3 extra pillows for our already very comfortable bed. I also had no problem getting extra coffee for the morning. So all in all, we had a good experience.”
