“Our room was comfortable and spacious. The staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant was fantastic! Close to Museum of Science and Industry and had a shuttle bus to take us to other sites. Shuttle driver went out of his way to accommodate us and other travelers and was just so friendly. He made our stay so much better than it would have been otherwise. We didn't have a room with a lake view, but we had trees instead of just a view of other buildings and pavement. I liked that. I would stay at this hotel again.”

“I was not happy with the location. I thought well it won't be so bad because the lobby was nicely decorated. Then when we got off the elevator it was run down. Our first room the refrigerator did not work, nor did the air conditioner. The room also had an awful smell. We were then moved to another room that the air conditioner was making loud noises, it smelled, and had roaches in the bathroom. I would have left but when I called other hotels they were booked up for the weekend. This was suppose to be a nice weekend get away and started off horrible when the hotel was not were it was suppose to be, and the hotel being so awful.”

“Hotel is not very appealing on the outside. Very sad to have the Ramada name on it. Paint is pealing everywhere, some doors do not shut without being slammed going into the outside buildings. Interior of room was very small, but you could tell they had been updated structurally on the inside. Furniture had a lot of wear and tear on it. I don't think we would stay there again. Some of the staff was down right rude when asked questions and the downtown shuttle was cancelled all 4 days we were there, forcing us to rent a car.”

“This hotel has a good location. It is a bit inconveniently located and showing its age, but for my purposes of getting as close to downtown as possible and spending as little as possible, it served its purposes. A big plus was the free, in-garage parking. Also, the staff were extremely helpful and the downtown shuttle service was great. This was a clean, moderately convenient place to sleep but not much more.”

“My first impression was "not so good". When we arrived, the hotel staff didn't even look me in the eye! They were too busy on the phone. Once I made the first initial eye contact and conversation, and they saw that I was nice, then they responded nicely and I had no problems after that. Pretty odd, if you want my opinion. I personally felt that it was too far off the way of Downtown Chicago. If you want Michigan Avenue and shopping, I would prefer to stay closer to Downtown, however, at the time I booked this trip, there were no hotels available due to a Cardiology Convention. None-the-less, I was happy to at least get the Ramada Inn. It was the closest available hotel for that weekend. I can say that if you are a business traveler and you don't want the busy city noise, the Ramada Inn would be a perfect "one or two night stay" kind of place. I took my 2 daughters (ages 13 and 10), my mother, mother-in-law, sister-in-law and niece (age 13).”

“This is an older hotel in the midst of remodeling. It is not user friendly and not extras. The lobby has no perks. Could use lobby internet access and food in vending machines. Not warm or welcoming.”

“I booked a room from this hotel for my parents. The hotel was decent; the staff was very friendly and helpful. My parents told me that the room was a little bit old, but it was a nice room w/ lake view. The hotel also provided us free parking. The cleaning crew was awesome, my family was very happy with their performance. I should tell, the hotel is not very luxurious and it is a little bit far from Downtown Chicago, but the service and price is really good. PS: The location is good if you need to go to U Chicago or The Museum of Science and Industry.”

“The room was adequate, but not great. The refrigerator was an early version of a Servibar with the food/beverages removed. Kind of tacky. The outlets didn't work near the sink which eliminated the coffee option as well as the hair dryer which is mounted to the wall there. If you just want a place to sleep it is ok, but barely. The beds are rock hard! The next time I would pay a little more for something slightly nicer!”

“This was so bad that I wanted to be homeless. My family disowned me and I felt like a dirt bag. If you want to meet new people and feel lonely stay here with your family-wife. I felt dirty staying here and was afraid to take a shower. I looked around my shoulder thinking that Norman Bates would get the best of me.”

“This was a very unsatisfactory stay. The air conditioner could not be turned off in our room. The staff sent a teenager to look at it and his words were, "It's broke". It was freezing in our room and we had to have windows open which made it very loud to sleep because of Lake Shore Drive. There was not a room big enough for us to move to. We asked for linens for the pull-out couch and the linens were brought to our room in a large plastic garbage bag with a tie. The furniture was old and ugly. Doors were scratched and chipped. Couch cushions were very worn and thin and very uncomfortable. We had 3 items plugged in and it blew a fuse. Manager told us it was out fault! We have been in rooms with 3 girls at other hotels and had at least 4 items plugged in and never blew a fuse. Lobby rug had large stains on it. Vending machine only offered two items. We feel we should get a large discount for all the inconvenience stated above! Being a Ramada Inn we expected quality.”

“We were unable to stay at this hotel because the air conditioner would not shut off. The knobs were broken off and maintenance did not come to fix it. The hotel would not put us into another room so we checked out.”

“Hotel staff was very accommodating. We arrived much earlier than check in allows (and we were exhausted!) and they gave us the key to the room, directed us to the restaurant, pool, and room. Staff was helpful in recommending cabs/trains to various events/places even giving the approximate costs of traveling different ways. There is a restaurant/pub in the hotel although I never saw the bar open (was out too late each night). The food was good, regular bar food, burgers, salad bar, and various fried apps, nothing extraordinary, but good. Waiter did not speak English too well, but he got our order right (although main entrees came out before apps-whatever, we were hungry). Room we had was a smoking room and I never had a cigarette in the room because the room reeked like one. But that's what you get huh. Next time I would get a nonsmoking room. The hotel was right across the street from Lake Michigan and there are paths to walk along. The only down side is that there is nothing nearby for miles. We took a cab to Grant Park and walked along the Lake there right in center city. All in all, it was a place for us to lay our heads for a descent night's sleep. Would I stay there again, not really, just for the fact that I spent so much $ on cabs, I would use that cash to get a hotel room in center city. Good Luck!”

“The armada lake shore was just what I needed as a vacation traveler on a budget with three small children. The room was clean and the staff was friendly. Parking was convenient and free. We did not have to use our car, however, because the hotel was a few blocks from the metro rail line to downtown, and a few more blocks from restaurants and shops.”

“It was merely adequate, but considering the cost, it was just a poor choice. television reception was bad; we had a very uncomfortable sofa sleeper, without any linens. the highway noise is ever present. The room we were changed to did not meet the specifications either.”

“We had a joke going in our family that this hotel was built when Lincoln was president. Nothing worked, the room was small, none of the lights worked except the bathroom light, the TV did not work one night, the b-fast buffet was out of eggs, French toast, bacon, juice and hash browns This hotel was not up to our expectations!!!”
