• Exactly what I wanted in just the right place.
• The upstairs bar tried to say we needed to give our table up for somebody else.

“The W is a great place to stay. It is geared towards business travelers, but was great for the family. .”

• The view of Lake Michigan.
• No complimentary anything. Not even coffee.

“It was beautiful. I'm not sure I liked the shutters for the bathroom window and door, especially if you are traveling with a friend.”

• Rooms were modern and chic.
• The lighting in the bathroom was terrible - good for setting mood but not for bathroom.

“Hotel was nice and would stay again. Nice sheets, clean, only thing I disliked was the lighting in the bathroom. You could hardly see anything in the mirror. The lighting is great for setting a mood but not practical for a bathroom.”

• Off the beaten path.

“Not the hotel for fusionists that are looking for some serious shopping-therapy on the Magnificent Mile however, because with the windiness of Chicago, the lake breezes make the five-block journey west to Michigan Avenue almost unbearable from October through May.”

• Two short calls to the concierge and I had a pair of tickets to the hottest show in town and reservation at one of the best restaurants.
• This hotel is for the 30 year old playwright from Manhattan. Edgy, cool, hip. Not comfortable, and location is too far east.

“If you are a 30 year old single playwright from Manhattan, or 28 year old sculptor visiting from Paris, this is the hotel for you. High energy, ultra modern design, very cool environs. Everyone dressed in black. However, 47 year old fuddy-duddies like me get a little put off. Form is more important than function here. The bathroom has an odd window into the room, and no door that closes.”

• Not a good hotel for kids.

• Nice place would definitely choose to stay there again.
• Very nice and clean appearance but thin walls between rooms.

“The ability to hear the people and water and phone from the room next door wasn't a big enough distraction to prevent us from coming back in the future but we did find it kind of ironic how a nice place like this had such poor sound deadening.”

• Clean, friendly and helpful staff, Cool atmosphere.
• The room was a little small, but I would go back there.

“This hotel is very modern and upscale. Beautiful lobby. Asian influence. Beautiful flowers. Delicious appetizers in the afternoon. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. I enjoyed my stay and would recommend it to friends. One drawback was that if one is sharing a room with a friend, the rooms are somewhat small. Bathrooms are small too. However, I enjoyed my stay very much.”

• Easy being Downtown, able to get every place you are looking for.
• Believe it or not, I definitely liked the hotel a lot, I was very happy with it; I'd recommend it to someone.

“The hotel had everything to offer so again I couldnt bad mouth the hotel, I'd definitely stay there again if we are staying Downtown for the night. I'd recommend it to other people being that there's every place around, bars, dining, dances, events, etc. So I was pleased and so was my wife.”

• I liked the room itself. Nicely appointed.
• The hotel had great views of Lake Michigan, but my room was on the other siding, facing a nondescript skyscraper. All I could see was concrete.

“Chicago W Hotel Lakeshore looks to be a converted apartment/condominium building (but I could be wrong). The main floor is a bit convoluted in design, and a bit loud in ambience, but service was very good. My room, unfortunately, didn't face the lake. Instead, it looked right into a wall of concrete from the skyscraper next door. The room itself, though, was very nice. Nice king bed. Nice HD TV. Liked the overhead shower set-up. I ate breakfast the next morning in the hotel's main floor WAVE restaurant -- and was very impressed. Particularly with the diced, seasoned potatoes. Might be the best breakfast potatoes I've ever had. All in all, a good experience just lacking a view.”

• Modern and chic decor. Staff very helpful. Positive experience.
• It was quite a walk to get to shopping area. At times we didn't feel safe on walk back to hotel.

“I would recommend this hotel and stay here again. The atmosphere is like non other when you walk into the lobby. The decor is modern and chic, very hip. The bed was very comfortable, not your typical hotel bed. They go out of theirs, with detail, down to the apple and bottle of water the valet left in our vehicle for the ride home.”

• The price and how close to the lake it was.
• Not knowing if there would be 2 beds per room until the last minute.

“The rooms were too dark - too much black and the lighting in the bathrooms were terrible, and what's with the window opening in the bathroom?”
