• Newly renovated; nicely appointed room;small closet area; friendly, helpful staff; hot breakfast.
• Teeny closet; teeny area to hang clothes; no happy hour.

“We thought the hotel and the staff were great. I would stay there again, if the price were right, in a nano second. Would have loved a nightly happy hour....I would recommend this hotel to all-- if they get a good price on Priceline or any other on-line place.”

“I traveled to Chicago on business as I do often. I was happy that the hotel was close to Michigan Ave. and the lake. Taxi's were plentiful and the valet staff was quick and prompt. I loved the layout of the room and am likely to stay here again soon.”

“We enjoyed not only the great location but everything else like the breakfast and free BBQ dinner and beverage on Wednesdays. We would recommend this place to friends and family and will return to the hotel again.”

• Family friendly, comfortable, safe area and helpful staff.

“We had an excellent experience at the hotel. Excellent family friendly environment. Very comfortable and convenient for young children because they offer daily breakfast service and on some days, they have special manager's reception where they serve snacks/food and drinks in the evening. Our room was clean, nicely decorated and in good condition. We would stay here again.”

• Front desk & bell staff not as well informed on city amenities as I would have liked.

• A bit of a distance from public transportation carrying luggage.

“The Residence Inn was more than I expected. My family savored the complimentary breakfast and the evening social hours. The room was pretty decent and location was awesome. True to the Marriott tradition. One thing I wasn't very happy about was the parking charges, its $45 a day! Also one of the valet guys was very unfriendly. Overall, a great experience and I would stay here again.”

• The location was wonderful. The room was comfortable. A breakfast buffet was served each morning.
• Due to construction there was no work out room (they were using the room for storage of building supplies). That was a major disappointment!

“This was the first time we traveled to Chicago. I've always been a little hesitant--fear of the unknown-- so to speak. We were pleasantly surprised and could not believe the accommodations that were provided. Check-in was hassle free, I didn't even need my confirmation information. I'm still in awe of this wonderful experience and have shared it with family and friends. My mom and dad have recently planned their vacation in Branson, MO, as a result of my positive experience. You helped make our vacation in Chicago one to remember.”

“This is a fairly bare-bones hotel in the Mag Mile district. The lobby/hallway areas look pretty old and sad but the room was nicely decorated, clean and quite comfortable.”

“Nicely updated rooms. Nice to have kitchenette in room with small kids. Nice breakfast included and also frees BBQ and sundaes during the week in the evening. Overall very pleasant experience!”

• The two rooms we stayed in were both very clean and all the appliances worked very well.
• We were not told of some of the renovations that were happening in the hotel.

“The Residence in by Marriot is a wonderful hotel. The staff was fast and friendly from the front desk to room service. The only negative was that we were not told of renovations happening at the time so some of the amenities were not in working order such as stairways, workout rooms and food. The hotel however did all that could to make the stay wonderful? Thank you.”

• The bathroom was nice and its a pretty good location.
• The bed. My back hurt for three days after that.

“They need to improve the beds. For a long term stay place those beds are not at all adequate.”

• The location and the quality of the hotel was very good to excellent. The front desk clerk did a great job!
• Check out clerk not very good. A bit cold and unwelcoming.

• The room was very nicely decorated, very updated. Having the kitchen area was very nice for those times you feel like relaxing in the room.
• No pool at this facility.

“The staff was very friendly and helpful, checking in was a breeze. The rooms have been very nicely updated, very comfortable. They've thought of just about anything you might need - fully equipped kitchen, computer connections (wired & WiFi), plasma TV. The bathroom was spacious and nicely designed. Plus, the location was great - only a minute away from North Michigan, in a very quiet area. Also close to Lake Michigan shore for wonderful evening walks along the water.”
