• The entrance/open areas of the hotel were beautiful- carpets were dirty.
• Room needed maintenance and carpet shampooing.

“I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. We stayed at the Drake. It is such a legendary hotel in Chicago/the world. Our room was large and the king size bed was nice. However, the carpet was dirty, furniture dusty, walk-in closet light didn't work, a very short shower filled the tub up with water, so you stand in dirty water trying to get clean. Needs updated and cleaned.”

• Has been renovated but is still OLD.

“Went to stay for the weekend and was expecting more from a four star hotel. Room was very comfortable and clean and the help was very friendly. Room service food was awful! Had breakfast for two and it cost more than half what we paid for the room for a night. Not what I expected for 4 stars but the location is fantastic and for what we paid I shouldn't complain. 3 Stars from me.”

• Water pressure in shower very weak.

• Historic hotel, excellent location.
• Definitely needs to be updated.

“Historic hotel with a great location. Needs to be updated to keep it's 4 star status. Could easily drop down to 3.5 star hotel, which is what it has really become. Beds were great but no headboard or any real decor. We are talking about a 4 star here. Dated bathrooms. Did have a flat screen TV.”

• Front desk not very friendly or accommodating. Enjoyed hotel Burnham's staff much better than drake.

• The fresh flower arrangements in the lobby.
• Bathroom was a little small, but nice.

“The room was lovely. Deluxe lake view with two windows directly overlooking lake Michigan. Bathroom was classic, but nice. Bed was antique frame with modern mattress. Very comfortable. I would definitely stay here again.”

• The king bed plus the 5 comfy pillows were awesome!
• That I was only there for 2 nights.

“The entire experience was awesome. Amazing food for instance I had the Bagel and Lox late in the evening due to a late flight. It was a little more costly that what I am used to but when the plate came to my table it was huge. Crazy big mounds of lox on a perfectly toasted bagel and a mountain of fries.”

• They allowed us to check in early.
• The room was in need of some TLC. The wallpaper was peeling and carpet was old.

“For a hotel that is considered a Chicago landmark the hotel was OK. The front desk staff was courteous and allowed us to check in early - although we did have to downgrade our room type to a Queen. The room was worn. The wallpaper was peeling and the carpet was old. We did have to request maintenance due to our air-conditioning was not working. The service was prompt and corrected the issue. Overall, I would pick other hotels in downtown before I returned here, although if I received this hotel again I would not be upset, maybe just a little disappointed.”

• Beautiful, comfortable, and immaculately clean rooms.
• No pool.

“I would definitely stay at the Drake again and would recommend it to friends. Friendly staff and rooms were neat and very clean.”

• Very well appointed room.
• Room was small with no view, bath products were sub par.

“The Drake is the quintessential Chicago luxury hotel. Its location keeps travelers amidst Chicago's hotspots, but the appointment of its rooms and restaurants offers sanctuary to the over-shopped and over-traveled. It is no wonder The Drake has remained a Chicago icon for almost 90 years.”

• Broken tiles, scratched furniture. Not the best view of the Lake.

“I was expecting the hotel to be the Plaza of Chicago and was a little let down. If I had been expecting a Fairfield Inn then I would be pleasantly surprised.”

• My stay was far too short.

“Deserving of a 5 star rating only because there is no 6 star. A wonderful staff is only too happy to make sure all of your wants and needs are met to your expectations. And all of this at a grand facility at atop the Miracle Mile.”

• Employees neither helpful nor friendly felt like a burden on them for merely checking in.
