  • The convenient location and elegance.
  • It took too long to retrieve car from parking.

“This old stately hotel is beautiful and well maintained. The staff is very helpful and friendly. If you are looking for new and modern this is not the hotel for you. They need to improve retrieval time for your car at $49 per night for valet they are way to slow.”

  • Very well kept.
  • Our room was very hot-unable to cool.

“We stayed here for two nights and had a very nice stay. Hotel was close to a lot of things and very easy to get around. Room service was available.”

  • It was clean and showed very little signs of its age.
  • The employee made no effort to change our accommodations from a room with twin beds to a room with two double beds to accommodate our grandchildren.

“Location was good, lobby and rooms were clean and nicely furnished but it has very few amenities, if any, for accommodating children, certainly not what I would call a family friendly hotel.”

  • Lots of character.
  • No free internet access.

“Old. Bathrooms had mold in the shower and low water pressure.”

  • Everything was nice.
  • There was no Wi-Fi.

“I would definitely recommend this hotel.”

  • The room and view were gorgeous.
  • If I had paid full price I would have been upset the WiFi and workout facilities were an additional charge.

“The entrance area was lovely and all the people were helpful. There was very limited lobby area to sit and read or have a cup of coffee, at least I could not find it. My room far surpassed what I expected for the price I paid and we had a great view of roof top gardens and the lake. Everything was good except that there was an extra charge for use of the computers in the business center and for the work out facilities which made a short workout a bit pricey. We stayed at other less expensive places during this trip that do not charge for these services. I would go back if I could get the same price, but would competitively shop for these extras to be in the overnight charges if I was paying the full price.”

  • The location is incredible. Right next to Michigan Ave. shopping and some great restaurants.
  • The Drake is in dire need of updating. Also, the service was severely lacking (both housekeeping and room service).

“The Drake was probably an incredible hotel several decades ago, which appears to have been the last time any updating was done. The bathroom fixtures were hideous, as was the bathroom in general. Also, the TV in the room was a vacuum tube Zenith Circa 1990 that was housed in a bulky armoire”

  • Hotel was beautiful and staff was very helpful and friendly.
  • Parking was very expensive but it's downtown Chicago.

“Hotel is a classic. Beautifully decorated and elegant. Location for downtown activities is excellent. Some rooms have great views of the waterfront. Staff was very helpful and friendly and I have to give major props to the concierge.”

  • Large room, comfortable bed
  • Bathroom could have used a exhaust fan to take moisture out

“The hotel was much more than what we expected for the price that we paid. We would stay there again if we could get the same price.”

  • The room was great, very comfortable and clean.
  • The elevators, there always only seemed to be one working at a time.

“I loved our stay at The Drake. The location was amazing and the room was very comfortable.”

  • I liked the history of the hotel, and the beauty.
  • As we were leaving and loading our car, the bellhop was shouting at us to shut the car door, and go quicker. He was very rude.

“Had an excellent experience in the hotel, but felt the bellhop was very rude when we were leaving loading our car in front of the hotel. We were going very quickly and as quick as possible, yet he was yelling at us to hurry, close the doors and to leave faster than was possible. It was extremely rude. We had every right after spending so much money and time at the hotel to not feel rushed to leave. That was totally uncalled for.”

  • Nice room amenities.
  • Very slow elevators.

“Overall we had a very good experience at this hotel. We found the location to be convenient. The restaurants & shops inside the hotel were VERY nice! The room was a bit smaller than we expected but it had everything we needed and then some. Our only complaint is about the elevators. There are no stairs to get to the rooms and we often had to wait in excess of 10 minutes to get on one of the 5 elevators.”

  • I loved the location, the service and the ambiance.
  • In our room the beds could have been placed so that we could see the lake.

“The Drake has old world appeal with new world charm. The room was extremely nice, the staff was very caring and the location couldn't have been better. I highly recommend The Drake!”

  • The history.

“The Drake is a Chicago landmark. Convenient to the Magnificent Mile, Lincoln Park, Navy Pier, Oak Street Beaches, and the Loop. Luxurious yet inviting. Staff is very helpful, especially the bell desk.”

  • Room size and cleanliness of hotel.

“Elegance personified. Old world class. THis is not your cookie cutter hotel. A perfect place to relax and unwind plus it is convenient to Michigan Ave shopping and night life.”

  • A classic, traditional hotel with superb service.
  • Parking was difficult.

“The Drake has a superb reputation. We were pleasantly surprised at the larger-than-expected size of our room. Room service is expensive.”
