“We kept a smile on our faces, and went back to the front desk with kindness and understanding in our hearts. Maybe that is why we were upgraded to the presidential suite at the Drake (at no extra charge). This room was easily 2000 square feet of living space with enough room to throw a party for 50 people.”

“The room smelled horribly of smoke, there was a
stain on the toilet, and honestly looked like it had not been used in a long time. We requested a change and were put in a lovely room. The rest of our stay was fantastic.”

“The Drake is a lovely hotel with terrific staff. It is conveniently located and on the edge of the city, so slightly less congested than most others.”

“The hotel was a huge letdown. I will never stay there again. Everything is extra including a $7 bottle of water (ice mountain), 3.50/hr for internet, $35/night parking, since the self park lot was full they made us pay full price to have the car valeted which was $50 a night. Generally everyone at the hotel was overly snobby. My room was 150 square feet including the bathroom. Breakfast was a minimum of $50 for 2 people.$7 for an egg that. We couldn't even eat at the restaurant because you basically needed a suit and tie to not feel under dressed. Thank God the elevator went all the way to the basement so we could avoid most of the snobs.”

“Truly a beautiful hotel with exceptionally friendly and courteous staff, the rooms reminded me of the Copley Plaza hotel in Boston, richly decorated from beds to sitting area to window treatments. The beds were extremely comfortable, unlike most hotels. The concierge, provided us excellent tips to make the most of our two-day stay. She also orchestrated the hotel limo to drive us to the aquarium Friday morning; this was one of the many highlights of our stay in the hotel. Also, two of the mornings, we had breakfast in the café beneath the main lobby of the hotel. They have a large menu of offerings with various coffees and breakfast sandwiches, and all were delicious. We will definitely stay here again! Thank you.”

“The Drake is a lovely old hotel. All the amenities that you would expect were provided. However, our room was so hot and the thermostat did not work.”

“Friendly and helpful staff. The room was clean and comfortable, but was very hot. Chicago was having unseasonable warm temperatures. The lobby is beautiful.”

“Overall a very good experience. Hotel staff was not. Executive lounge is a walk up two flights of stairs to 11 with no access to elevator on that floor. Room was large and furnished well. Service at the front desk was cold and unhelpful.”

“Overall I loved going there - I got I could never complain! I did have a couple of problems with the room (not big ones). The sink in the bathroom leaked but it was so far away from the bedroom it didn't bother us. The coffee maker didn't work right. Our view was of another side of the next building over and our fire escape. This hotel has the potential to have some fabulous views (i.e. lake Michigan) but we didn't have that. But other then that it was great! The towels were thick and soft, the bed was comfortable for both my husband and me, and the duck down comforter and pillows were also wonderful! We do plan on going back.”

“Our room was in a renovated floor and we were told that we were the first ones to stay in the hotel. Definitely an old guard hotel, but it was fabulous, not a single complaint about anything. The staff especially was helpful and very professional. I loved it and would love to go again!”

“The hotel was fabulous, very grand, so much history! The staff was very nice, not snobby. I felt completely at ease here, even though I am not used to so much luxury. The pub restaurant on site was a very good place to eat.”
