“This old stately hotel is beautiful and well maintained. The staff is very helpful and friendly. If you are looking for new and modern this is not the hotel for you. They need to improve retrieval time for your car at $49 per night for valet they are way to slow.”

“We stayed here for two nights and had a very nice stay. Hotel was close to a lot of things and very easy to get around. Room service was available.”

“Location was good, lobby and rooms were clean and nicely furnished but it has very few amenities, if any, for accommodating children, certainly not what I would call a family friendly hotel.”

“Old. Bathrooms had mold in the shower and low water pressure.”

“The entrance area was lovely and all the people were helpful. There was very limited lobby area to sit and read or have a cup of coffee, at least I could not find it. My room far surpassed what I expected for the price I paid and we had a great view of roof top gardens and the lake. Everything was good except that there was an extra charge for use of the computers in the business center and for the work out facilities which made a short workout a bit pricey. We stayed at other less expensive places during this trip that do not charge for these services. I would go back if I could get the same price, but would competitively shop for these extras to be in the overnight charges if I was paying the full price.”

“The Drake was probably an incredible hotel several decades ago, which appears to have been the last time any updating was done. The bathroom fixtures were hideous, as was the bathroom in general. Also, the TV in the room was a vacuum tube Zenith Circa 1990 that was housed in a bulky armoire”

“Hotel is a classic. Beautifully decorated and elegant. Location for downtown activities is excellent. Some rooms have great views of the waterfront. Staff was very helpful and friendly and I have to give major props to the concierge.”

“Room was on the first floor. After returning to our room after a long day of shopping on Michigan Ave., our room reeked of cigarette smoke. We called the front desk to inquire if we were put in a smoking room and were told that the entire hotel was non-smoking. We asked to be switched to another room as it was difficult to breathe in that room. Approximately 2.5 hours later, they moved us to another room. We were not offered anything to compensate for our inconvenience or the slow response/resolution time. Initially, we were very excited The Drake accepted our Priceline bid. However, we are glad we only book one night and could not wait to leave.”

“The hotel is beautiful and it is in a prime location. The bed, pillows and duvet were extremely comfortable and made for a great nights sleep. Housekeeping was very disappointing. After checking in room had been made but bathroom was not clean - there was hair in the tub and sink. Throughout the duration of the stay, housekeeping would make the beds and stock up on towels etc., but did not clean the tub and sink. Even though beds were made, the sheets were not shaken out. Internet is ridiculously overpriced!”

“Had an excellent experience in the hotel, but felt the bellhop was very rude when we were leaving loading our car in front of the hotel. We were going very quickly and as quick as possible, yet he was yelling at us to hurry, close the doors and to leave faster than was possible. It was extremely rude. We had every right after spending so much money and time at the hotel to not feel rushed to leave. That was totally uncalled for.”

“Overall we had a very good experience at this hotel. We found the location to be convenient. The restaurants & shops inside the hotel were VERY nice! The room was a bit smaller than we expected but it had everything we needed and then some. Our only complaint is about the elevators. There are no stairs to get to the rooms and we often had to wait in excess of 10 minutes to get on one of the 5 elevators.”

“The Drake is a Chicago landmark. Convenient to the Magnificent Mile, Lincoln Park, Navy Pier, Oak Street Beaches, and the Loop. Luxurious yet inviting. Staff is very helpful, especially the bell desk.”
