• Hall leading to room was a little confusing.

• Location was great, we enjoyed being in the city.
• Under construction no Starbucks!

• The rooms are very clean and the beds are comfortable.
• They've remodeled; the new decor is truly awful.

“The current construction promises to create a very retro but unpleasant lobby area. It's a challenge to find the registration desks, and the place looks like something out of the jet sons. Still, the rooms are always clean and quiet as long as your floor is high enough to miss the street noise.”

• Fantastic location, family friendly, great swimming pool, parking garage across the street.
• Undergoing lobby construction at the time of visit, room was a bit noisy (could hear outside traffic, sirens in early morning and evening).

“I was visiting Chicago with my 9-year old daughter for a shopping trip. The hotel met our needs and beyond! My daughter loved the swimming pool and I loved the fantastic location on Michigan Avenue! We drove our car from our hometown and a parking garage was right across the street (a premium in Chicago). Staff was very friendly and the hotel and restaurant were clean. I'd definitely stay here again!”

• Nice view of Michigan Avenue.
• Maids did a poor job of cleaning room on second day.

“Nice hotel in excellent location, although under renovation, hardly mattered. People fighting in next room were taken care of by security, and I was assured more consequences if it happened again the next night. Maids did not clean room properly on second day, barely made the beds, didn't replace towels, etc. I didn't have a chance to complain, so I don't know how it would have been resolved if they knew about it. Again, quite nice hotel in excellent location with very helpful staff in lobby - concierge service is outstandingly helpful. Highly recommended!”

• Excellent location, great room.
• Elevators were consistently out of order.

“We enjoyed the hotel. Found some of the concierge to be short and unfriendly but others were great. Were not told needed to validate parking lot stub prior to leaving lot - caused us to be charged valet amount.”

• Centrally located, walking distance to many attractions, shopping, restaurants.
• The place was crawling with children.

“There were a lot of things to recommend this hotel, and only one or two drawbacks. First, there were a lot of children, so the pool and spa were always crowded. The other is, I was on the tenth floor, and the street sounds were still very loud. One thing that particularly annoyed me was the lack of free internet. It's a premium hotel, for crying out loud, but they still charge for internet use in your room. If the Motel 6 can give it away for free, why can't Marriott? Aside from those problems, the hotel was top-notch.”

• The location on Michigan Avenue.
• The prices at the bar were high.

“The location was great. The front of the hotel was on rushing St. However there was an entrance to the hotel from Michigan Avenue. The pool and hot tub area was nice with a great workout area. Overall a great hotel.”

• Great location. Rooms were decorated nicely and looked modern.
• Crazy lobby with a lot happening. Staff could have been a bit friendlier.

“Great location. Very nice rooms. It is a huge hotel, so it seems overly busy. Staff could have been better. But overall it gets the job done very nicely.”

“Excellent service and location! Unfortunately, the bed was old and uncomfortable (back ache next day) and room was very loud. We could hear traffic in the hallway (thin doors) and honking cars and blowing whistles (thin windows).”

• The concierge was very knowledgeable & helpful.
• The parking/entry situation is atrocious. We sat in traffic for 45 minutes to get around the block into the entry to unload & valet park.

“Our room was very small for the 3 of us. As pleasure travelers, we did not require the large desk & chair taking up the room. It was a convenient location & staff was very helpful.”

• Liked the location. Staff very cordial.
• Valet parking and entrance very hard to find and get into.

“Because we had a terrible time getting into the hotel, valet parking crowded and took forever, it soured the experience from the beginning. Location was great, as was the staff. Rooms left much to the imagination. Clean but not much to them and lacked comforts.”
