“The Tremont Hotel is an excellent location for visiting downtown Chicago, with close access to red line subway and bus routes. We were able to get around for six days with no taxi. It is an older hotel but it is unique and very comfortable. Great place to stay if you don't have a car. I would stay here again.”

“During shower, water was ankle deep and would not drain. Staff was not very friendly. For one night, it was manageable, but I'm reluctant to take chance again for fear of staying here again.”

“Small and very attractive old European style hotel in the heart of Chicago's near north side. Mere steps from Water Tower Place, and the Hancock Building. Excellent staff and service. Perfect for the little get away.”

“This is a nice place for a comfortable stay. The lobby is elegantly cozy and our room (one queen bed) was moderately small, but fine for a weekend stay. The bed was very comfortable and the street outside was a bit noisy until about 11:00-midnight, when it quieted down considerably with only occasional traffic. The free continental breakfast was nothing exciting, with bagels and cereal and the like. Would have liked a pool, but overall a very nice place and would gladly stay here again.”

“The hotel was nice. It had a full kitchen, which would have been nice if we were staying more than two nights. We could use wireless in the lobby, but was very inconvenient for me. Overall, it was a great hotel.”

“Kind of has a haunted bed and breakfast feel. Good for a short stay. Not good for children. During my staff I heard my neighbor relieving himself and the upstairs neighbors taking a romp in the sack. Not very sound proof. Staff was very polite and accommodating.”

“I liked that it was quiet the room was nicely decorated but the paint on the ceiling was peeling and there were water stains as well. The wallpaper in the bathroom was also peeling.”

“The staff was friendly and the location was great. Still my only complaint was that there are no rooms with more than one bed in them and no cots are available at the hotel.”

“This hotel located in the great location of anything you would what to do from dining to plays, to bars. The staff was friendly and very attentive. Quite and romantic with a great smell as you walk into the lobby. The bathrooms were good size and the beds very comfortable.”

“The hotel is clean and I got a great. Biggest complaint was that I was cold in the room. I basically had to wear a winter coat or be under the covers. The windows are single paned and let the cold Chicago winter in that night. I had the heater on high, but it didn't blow out very hard so the windows were winning the battle. It is right next to Ditka's restaurant. I ate there. I thought the prices were high and that the food wasn't that great. When I told my Chicago colleagues that, it was like I had offended their religion. I think they don't see past the name of it.”

“I would recommend this hotel for those who are coming to Chicago for shopping. The location was excellent! It is older and needs a bit of updating but the people were great and the room was fine.”

“Perfect location for a weekend in Chicago, just off Michigan Avenue. Cozy and comfortable with the feel of a small European hotel. The lobby decor and furnishings are warm and welcoming. Pleasant staff also.”

“The Tremont is a unique boutique hotel in view of Lake Michigan, a 1/2 block from the Miracle Mile and well-situated for both sight-seeing and business. A Starbucks directly across a two-lane non-busy street. The staff is friendly and helpful. The spacious penthouse suite was fabulous with a baby-grand piano, panoramic view of the lake, city lights, etc. The amenities like a shower cap, in-room coffee service, and a decent TV in the bedroom were lacking. Like every older hotel, it had it's quirks like poor to non-existent internet access except in the lobby, a non-working jetted tub and a wood paneled ornate elevator that groaned, creaked and lumbered its way up the floors. But the fireplaces in all the suites and lobby and general ambiance made up for it. If it had better internet, I'd go back. If I wanted a romantic weekend without internet, then I'm there.”

“The location was in a good location close to shopping and dining. The staff was very rude and not accomodating to our needs. One room was not ready after check-in and there were no appologies made instead we were treated like we were an inconvenience. There are no amenities such as a workout facility or added luxuries.”

“The staff at this hotel went above and beyond being helpful. They were so nice and friendly, that means everyone from the doorman to the bellman to the front desk staff and housekeeping...all were great! It is an older hotel, so it did not have some of the amenities that the more modern hotels have, but it made up for it with charm. The rooms are all different. I noticed that noise did not carry from room to room or from the hall to the room. I could not hear the TV next door through the wall. The location couldn't be better. The neighborhood is cute as can be, and I felt safe walking around. If you want rollaway and vending machines, computers and video games, this is not the place for you. But if you want charm and warmth, it is. Yes, the elevator is slow, but it worked. I would definitely recommend this hotel.”

“This is a cute, boutique hotel. The common area is cozy. The location is ideal to the heart of Michigan Avenue. The shortcomings of the hotel are no refrigerator in the room so even if you wanted to bring some food back to your room for the next day there is no way to store it. Also, no provision for ice. So even if you buy drinks at the local Trader Joe's, no way to have the ice cold.”

“In general a clean hotel. It does show its age, but it has been well kept for the most part.”
