  • The hallways smelled like stale smoke or some other odd odor.

“Everything was fine regarding this hotel except the 3rd floor hallway had an odd odor”

  • Hotel was busy, but quiet.

“Standard ESA America facilities. The facilities were clean and well equipped. I like these hotels for the kitchenette: (refrigerator, stove-top & microwave and good lighting and surfaces for work. Very affordable through Priceline bidding.”

  • Very, very clean. Nice kitchenette.
  • The bedding was kind of standard, but clean.

“Very clean, nice kitchenette, reasonable cost, especially if you're looking to save money and don't need anything fancy.”

  • Clean room that was great value for the money.
  • TV is small, but not a problem.

“Convenient to UI campus (10 minutes), clean and affordable. Nothing special, but very good value for the money.”

  • Its nice to have a kitchenette.
  • Beds are uncomfortable.

“Good quality for the price and good location that is convenient to shopping and dining.”

  • The rate was good, and the place came with a kitchen.
  • It was a smoking floor/room, so it always smelled a little funny.

“Extended Stay America was a great and affordable place to stay. The downsides are that there is no breakfast provided (they give you a kitchenette in the room), it smelled funny (probably from smoking), and there were no real on site amenities provided, except for a laundry (no pool, no gym).”

Cleanliness:[10] • Staff:[10] • Location:[10]

  • No fuss, no muss. Like staying at an apartment.
  • All the double bed occupancy rooms were booked up.

“With ESA's, you know what you are getting, and I for one like that. No mint on the pillow, but anyone who is staying more than a couple days will find that cooking some of your own meals sure does save money! $4.95 Wi-Fi for the length of the stay is very reasonable as well, though the speed is not the greatest.”

Cleanliness:[1] • Staff:[1] • Location:[5]

  • Nothing at all.
  • Dirty throughout, no maid service.

“This hotel if you can call it one is for workmen who work in the area for weeks and months at a time. The carpets and stairways are filthy throughout the hotel. No daily maid service, if you want clean towels you must bring them to the desk. Horrible experience, run away from this hotel.”

Cleanliness:[6] • Staff:[9] • Location:[6]

  • The refrigerator, the microwave, the burners.
  • The bed. Bad, loose linens, no hairdryer, no product!

“Basic. The manager was very accommodating when overbooked ad got us a room at a competitor.”

  • Close to business district.
  • Dirty and smells like a big smoking room.

“I stayed at ESA before at a different city (Atlanta). That place was fine. I expected similar experience this time but I was totally wrong. The entire building smelled like a big smoking room. There are plenty of dirt all over the stairs and the hallway. The guest room smells, too. The bed sheet looked clean, but didn't feel the same way when contacting the skin. I couldn't get into sleep for the entire night. I would have better luck in a Super 8 than this place; or I should have just stayed in my office for a night.”

  • Presented as recently renovated- hate to think what it looked like before renovation!

“The kitchen area was a plus- Even though the premise is extended stay by a business person- I couldn't imagine staying more than 1 or 2 nights at this hotel.”

  • It was clean and comfortable.
  • There was no shampoo.

“This was a fine place to stay at for one night. It was comfortable. I would not want to stay here for any long time. They charge for internet.”

  • Good location. Kitchen was helpful.
  • Smoking room stunk! Everything had to be washed at home.

“I was disappointed that the room smelled so bad! It was unpleasant and everything I brought with me had to be washed or aired out. The floor in the kitchen was sticky. Good location. Nice to have a little kitchen.”

  • Convenient location and the kitchenette.
  • The staff was rude and unhelpful during checkout.

“Overall, our stay was great. But upon check-out, we were completely ignored by the staff behind the counter. There was a raging ice storm and my sister and I were struggling to get things out to the car. The man behind the counter, I cannot call him a gentleman, sat and watched as we slid all over the ground, almost falling. Then when my sister struggled to get the cart back inside, he did not give her assistance. She told him it was extremely slippery and that he needed to put some salt down. He just shrugged and let her continue to slide around on the ice. I could not believe how rude he was.”

  • The place stinks in a number of ways, including the foul odor.

“The Extended Stay America Champaign - Urbana is a wonderful place for someone who cannot smell or see anything.
You could still get the same odor without the front desk attitude.”

  • Close to Mall and other shopping facilities.
  • Late night arrival service was minimal. I requested a non-smoking room but was assigned a smoking one. When I tried to discuss that I was not success.

“Nicely located. Generally good service and nice staff. It is an Apartment setting for extended stays.”

  • Convenient location and kitchen facility.
  • It was just a stopover on a long trip and was fine.

“Conveniently located too many restaurants and shopping. The facility was clean and new looking and the staff were friendly. We only needed a place to break a long drive to Wisconsin, but I would definitely look at this hotel if I need to be in the area for several days - particularly on business.”

“Location in Champaign is very good - near most major highways and many restaurants, shopping, etc. The hotel is more than I expected in terms of all that is provided. Since it is a longer-term motel, be sure to bring your own shampoo and conditioner. I'll stay here again. The town is terrific, too.”
