“I really don't know how this motel got their license to operate!”

  • Hot water in bathroom. Clean sheets on bed.
  • Dirty breakfast area.

“Checked into room, Ceiling leaking water into bathtub. Changed rooms. Dirty walls, carpet. Pool area closed, piled with lawn furniture, and weeds around pool. Dead plants still in containers outside. Garbage all over, ice machine and pop machine not working. Restaurant ceiling falling in, dead plants lining walls. Garbage all over. Dirty and garbage behind where breakfast was served. Refrigerator with milk and OJ not cleaned in weeks. Dirty plastic covering buffet area. Mens bathroom not in service.”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[9] • Location:[9]

  • Clean, quiet, comfortable bed, helpful and courteous staff.
  • It's getting "elegantly shabby" and not much on looks.

“For a clean quiet place to sleep, this suited me just fine. It is of 1960 era, but the staff was helpful. I'd stay there again tonight.”

  • Nothing!

“Even for the price, the bathroom was not clean and the overall comfort of the room was atrocious. It was the worst night sleep I ever had. I think the last time this hotel was cleaned was when it was built!”

  • Nothing.
  • This was the most discussing room I've ever stayed in.

“It doesn't deserve to be open, the inspector of Effingham should shut it down!”

  • Rooms and staff were very nice, clean, comfortable, and cheap.
  • the outside's curb appeal isn't that great.

“The rooms were clean, everything tidy and organized. The beds were firm but not like a board but also not sagging, very comfortable. They felt new. Everything was brightly lit, it felt safe. All the locks worked. The price was very affordable. Quality is comparable to that of the HOJO but a little bit cheaper and we could get parking right by our room. Makes it so easy to move stuff from the car to the room and back. We make many trips past this town to visit, next time (probably in a week) we'll just stop here. Very good nights stay. No noise from other rooms even though there were lots of other cars.”

Cleanliness:[1] • Staff:[1] • Location:[5]

  • Gave us ample toilet paper.
  • No clean linens, floors, no heat.

“The staff are not up to par when it comes to cleanliness nor customer service. This is a Ma and Pa ran business. The "Deluxe Free Breakfast" consists of stale, rewarmed coffee, stale cereal and a half-used gallon of milk in the fridge. The wind chills were -17 and we came back to no heat -- when we complained to management they stated that the amount we were paying didn't cover the electric bill. We will not recommend this hotel and plan to contact the local health dept and better business bureau.”

  • Scumbag hotel.

“I would not recommend this hotel. Old and run down. Water was very dingy; apparently the towels were washed in the water. They were old and discolored. Room was very dark. I would not have stayed except the thing was already paid for. As a solo traveler places like this are scary.”

  • Room was fine.
  • Owners.

“The room was fine, but the staff is very hateful people. A truck had jackknifed in the side street and the police was sending cars through their short parking lot. The owner blocked cars with their bodies and autos. Just very hateful people.”

  • Loved the staff and the beds were great! The beds were comparable to those of a more expensive hotel.
  • Being an independent name makes it seem like it's not going to be as good, I was doubtful about the room.

“We were looking for a decent hotel and a good price (cant get great hotels and cheap prices). This motel wasn't a chain but they're always worth giving a try. This was one that we were very happy with. Excellent facilities, good breakfast (the Made-From-Scratch Belgian waffles were so good that it's worth staying there just for that!), and clean comfortable rooms made everything just right and worth staying again. They do still need to do some work on their curb appeal though, overall great. Definitely better than a 1 star motel.”

Cleanliness:[3] • Staff:[1] • Location:[7]

  • We were on a floor all to ourselves and it was quiet.
  • Pretty much everything was not at all good.

“I would never recommend this hotel to anyone! I waited in the lobby for almost an hour before any one even came to the desk. The room was horrible. They didn't provide clean towels.”
