  • No goodness.
  • It is noisy, dirty and unsafe.

“It is a poor hotel that does not worthy of 2 star.”

  • I didn't die in it.
  • Loud, dirty, unsafe location, insufficient window coverings.

“It was said as having been recently renovated. if so, they forgot to: use any paint, replace decades-old toilet seats, and remove gobs of rust from the bathtub. The phone never worked. The French doors that lead to the community balcony only had shears. There was no privacy. Smoke from the bar downstairs drifted into the rooms because the doors have no seals. And there is no AC using fresh outside air. I know New Orleans well. You could easily lose your life on the walk from the hotel to Bourbon Street.”

  • Location close to French Quarter.
  • Dangerous neighborhood.

“Beware of scam - extra charges on arrival. We booked two rooms at this hotel for a Saturday night. Upon arrival my wife was asked to pay $13.90 fee for amenities. We had already for the hotel in full through Expedia. I asked the attendant what the charge was for and she broke it down to a mandatory breakfast, phone, and wireless internet fee. I explained to her that breakfast was already included in our charges and asked to speak to the manager. After arguing with the manager she reduced the charge by six dollars, removing the breakfast fee. After paying the fee my wife asked if the rooms were non-smoking as we had booked them, the lady confirmed. When checking into the rooms I found that one of the rooms didnt even have a telephone, only the cable where a phone should be plugged in (amenity fee for phone?). I also found that my non-smoking room was heavily smoked in. The rooms were dirty, the floor was not clean, the mattresses and pillows looked like they had been used as river rafts. The ceiling fans had enough dust to grow crops in. The bathrooms were the only thing that was clean, and we did have enough clean towels. Free parking while spaces last - I heard late afternoon quests complaining about not being able to park so I ended up using a cab to ensure I had an overnight parking place. There were no signs of security or cameras in the parking lot, and the gates remained open all night to a horrible neighborhood. The hotel has some arrangement for a homeless person living downstairs amongst the regular guests. I have no problem helping homeless, but they should help him by renting an apartment, not mixing them with tourists. All-in-all this hotel is one of the worst I have ever stayed in. I think $29-$39 a night would be a fair rate for this 1-2 star hotel.”

  • Front desk staff was nice.
  • Entire place needs a makeover.

“This hotel was much less than I had hoped. Although the staff was friendly and helpful, the location on the outer edge of the French quarter made for a lot of walking and the rooms were in dire need of remodeling. My bed was like a rock and there was a leak in the ceiling of my room. Housekeeping was sporadic and seldom left more than one thin towel each day. I didn't pay much for this stay and I guess I got what I paid for! Will not make that mistake again.”

  • Location- helpful staff.
  • People loitering at front entrance and at front desk.

“For the price I paid I would say it was reasonable. I felt uncomfortable at check-in with people standing at the front desk while youre giving your personal information. The hotel is in need of major repairs. The rice beds were missing their posts. The sheets were threading barren. The continental breakfast had already been gone thru by 8 a.m. It is picked up at 9 a.m. If you didn't get something to get by 8 a.m. You were out of luck. We weren't able to eat in the hotel because there was nothing left, so we had to go out for breakfast. What made the hotel reasonable was the hotel staff. Considering what they have been thru, they went above and beyond.”

  • Great pool with lion's head's spouting water into the pool, loved it!
  • Bathtub looked dirty.

“Nice sized room with large 4 poster bed. Very large pool w/ beautiful water feature. Some rooms are on the balcony surrounding the pool and courtyard. Door to room only covered with sheers which allow people to see into room especially at night, though you can close shuttered doors from the outside when you go in at night. Real drapes or shade on roller would be better for privacy. Interior rooms have solid wood doors. Have stayed there before. Would recommend to friends and stay there again. Front desk people were pleasant.”

  • It was antique.
  • My husband and I had to stay in two separate rooms. No accommodations for couples.

“I reserved a room for my husband and me. What I got was two single rooms. I live about 50 miles from New Orleans, so I am aware of the safety factor. This was not a place that I would recommend for travelers. It is not in a good area of town for walking at night. This would be an okay place for a working man to stay not women. Bedspreads were tattered.”

  • I love the pool and the people staying there were very friendly.
  • I was threatened and harassed on checkout day by a staff member.

“This hotel is beautiful, if not a bit worn, and most of the staff I encountered was friendly, but in every other aspect, this place is a disaster. My sheets were never washed, and I stayed there eight days with a tattoo that I was trying to keep clean. I had to ask for clean towels and toilet paper. The TV remote was broken and the wireless internet connection that I paid a nightly amenities fee never worked or did I ever receive a receipt for that fee. There was a party that the hotel had booked on Saturday night that took up the entire courtyard and spilled over into my hall, and I couldn't even hear my TV over all the yelling and loud music. On checkout day before and shortly after the checkout time, I was repeatedly harassed over the phone and a staff member even came to my door several times, banging and yelling that she was going to call the cops if I did not get out immediately. I kept my room clean and free of trash. I paid in advance for the room and the amenities fee, and I never disturbed anyone while I was there, so there was absolutely no reason why this should have happened. I implore anyone considering this hotel because of the price, please don't stay here, it isn't worth it!”

  • Proximity to the French quarter
  • Filthy room, nonworking TV, stained linens, no phone

“I have never thought of myself as a picky traveler, but I guess that's harder to do when super 8 is what you think of as a cheap place. This below that for sure. And I don't even mind that the bathroom is kind of Nasty or that TV is busted so that it only shows the cartoon network or that there is a dog in the next room that barks.”

Cleanliness:[1] • Staff:[2] • Location:[1]

  • None.
  • Unclean, cockroaches, moldy air vents, unsafe area, dirty and old furniture, not updated, unclean sheets.

“This was the single most terrible hotel I have ever stayed in. I have never stayed in room with cockroaches running around, moldy air vents, and sheets so unclean that I got rashes staying in the bed. I felt incredibly unsafe both in the hotel with the people staying there and the neighborhood in general. This should not be rated as a two-star hotel. This is one star at best. I would never recommend this to anyone unless they had no other choice.”

  • Nice location.
  • Had a lot of extra charges-- wireless internet even if you did not use, parking fee.

“This hotel is an old trying to modernize small hotel; it has a parking garage; where I picked up a flat, that was under construction, it has a pool but was not very clean inside; part of the hotel was rented out to fema victims; for the money I will look elsewhere next time.”

Cleanliness:[4] • Staff:[3] • Location:[5]

  • Court yard atmosphere.
  • Slow service.

“The hotel left a lot to be desired. The service was slow in checking in. There was no iron/board in the room. The pool felt slippery inside and did not appear to be clean. The guest were smoking and drinking inside the pool. The hotel was noisy and not conducive to rest. I was awakened before 5 in the morning and had to call the front desk. In the afternoon/evening time, the front desk clerk served dual roles as the clerk and bartender. The vending machines were not working properly and the nearest newspaper was several blocks away.”

Cleanliness:[3] • Staff:[1] • Location:[6]

  • I liked leaving it to come home.
  • There were no amenities at this hotel.

“Terrible, in 4 nights my room was never cleaned by a maid. Bathroom door had green crayon all over it. Remote didn't work, & TV buttons were missing. Breakfast was supposedly 7-9 a.m. but at 8:30, there was white bread, mini bagels and jelly left and that was all. Both front desk people I dealt with had attitudes. There were regular beds. The soda machine was out of order. Cancellation policy stinks; you can't cancel without paying for the entire stay anyway. Terrible experience overall.”

  • Location; this is not a "French Quarter" hotel.

“I am a native of New Orleans and know better than to venture to this part of town whether daylight or dark. Beware of the rip-off amenities fee. This hotel is totally misrepresented as 2 stars.”

Cleanliness:[1] • Staff:[1] • Location:[5]

  • The location.
  • Room was in disrepair and filthy.

“This was a horrible hotel. The staff was unresponsive and the level of cleanliness compared to a Hotel 6. The linens had holes, the lamp and other light did not work, the maid did not service the room 2 days in a row, and when I asked for extra towels and iron (that should have been in the room), and neither were ever delivered. Horrible service and horrible hotel. I left a day early just to get out of the hotel.”

  • Very warm feeling. True New Orleans ambiance.
  • Rampart street is not the best location, but I felt very safe at the hotel and took taxis.

“It was a true New Orleans experience. I loved the courtyard and that people had to gather outside together to eat breakfast. The staff was always courteous. For whatever reason, they did not have 2 rooms reserved for us, but they still gave us accomodations. The wait to straighten it out was no more than 10 minutes. The staff was friendly and the rooms were the old New Orleans architecure. The area is not the best, but we took taxis everyplace. I felt very safe staying there, even though I don't feel safe on Rampart. We will stay there again.”
