“The location of this hotel was great! The lobby looked pleasant but once you stepped into the elevator it was like the twilight zone! Seriously! The elevator carpeting was filthy. The hand painted murals in the elevator was coming off the wall in spots. Once you got off the elevator you could tell that the hotel needed to be updated to this century. The paint in the hallways was chipped or missing in hunks. Get to the hotel room door and open it and a musty odor came from the room. The carpeting in the room look like some seedy hotel. The molding around the door was broken as if force was used to gain entrance to the room. The bathroom door was a bi-fold and had handles on the outside but none on the inside, so you had to get inside then jerk on the doors separately to get them closed. The bed frame was for a queen bed and the bed was a full! About 4 inches of bed frame protruded from the bed on the side you could not see when you entered the room. Great location but lousy accommodations. When the above was mentioned to the hotel desk attendant, I was told that she had never been pass the lobby and never in any of the rooms to know what they looked like! ”

“Location of the hotel was excellent the overall experience was less than expected we were not very happy with the overall cleanliness and service the hotel we loved the city and enjoyed our trip but would never recommend this hotel nor would I ever stay there again overall I would rate this hotel a 1/2 star”

“It was not a good hotel at all. The parking was horrible, our air conditioner was broke and they moved us into a room that was very smoky smelling. Also they would not up grade from a full bed to a queen.”

“This hotel would have been a better experience if the room had not been the same size as the bathroom. Also, the water came out of the faucet at a dribble and the shower went from hot to cold faster than a women in menopause. The staff was great, the atmosphere was wonderful, and the location was perfect.”

“The Pontchartrain Hotel has been a mainstay in the Garden District of New Orleans for many years. With the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina, they are short-staffed, have maid service only twice a week. Our request for more towels netted two bath mats. The restaurant hours for breakfast are from 7 am to 10 am. We entered the restaurant at 9:50 and were told by surly staff that the restaurant was closed. Only one of two elevators was operational. Location is great, very convenient to casinos, downtown, and the French Quarter. The price is very reasonable.”

“The hotel is still under renovation, so there are some inconveniences. Wireless internet in the lobby only was also inconvenient. The location is great for restaurants and is near downtown.”
