“We had a nice hotel room and staff seemed friendly. The only negative things about the stay was we were awoken by alarms and had to call the front desk to find out it was a fire alarm-would have appreciated a phone call alerting us to get out. Then the maid service knocking hours before check out time was not very pleasant.”

“Upon arrival we were lucky enough to find parking on the street right around the block, so we just had to pay for the meter - if we hadn't had to drive anywhere the next day, that would've saved us on parking. Anyway, we checked in and 5 trips from the 8th floor to the lobby and 45 minutes later finally got a key to a room that worked. Based on that, I'd say hotel staff was plenty friendly but not very helpful in actually getting stuff done (I don't think it should take five trips to the lobby to get a key to work or a change in rooms). The elevator was extremely slow and very small. The room had a decent-sized spot of water damage/mildew on the ceiling. The room furniture looked great, although one bed had a piece jutting out that really hurts to accidentally kick. No fridge as most decent hotels have. On the plus side, the hotel is literally in the middle of downtown St Louis, great location literally blocks from the Arch, Busch Stadium, and Rams Stadium. But in the end, historic in this case simply means old.”

“The room was decorated nice, separate rooms for privacy, and the two large televisions was a plus. The room could have been lots cooler. I called the desk clerk who said the air had not been working properly. The motel was very hard to find and get into, and the traffic noise at night was noisy.”

“My wife and I stayed for three nights and every morning we were awaken by construction at sunrise. It generally ended by early afternoon so we were able to get naps in. Hotel staff was friendly and the rooms were clean. The showers take about 5-10 minutes for the water to get hot. Two flat panel TVs in the room were nice. Housekeeping did a good job as well. If given the opportunity to stay again, my wife and I would pass.”

“First off they moved us to a different hotel that was under construction and in terrible shape. There wasn't even a name on the building or front door. The lobby and room looked in terrible shape. I felt dirty when I got into the bed. I couldn't shower due to no shower pressure. It was my worst hotel experience ever.”

“While my friends and I loved the room set up and the staff was friendly, they were poor on follow-up. Our room was not cleaned one day and more importantly the bathtub backed up every night. So we had to clean the tub or shower in a filthy tub. Even though staff was friendly, it was not fixed and we weren't moved to another room or compensated in any way. I would not stay here again simply because of the cleanliness issue.”

“You could tell this hotel was once very beautiful, but it is in serious need of updating. Out of three elevators, only two worked and you could only fit four people in one elevator. They do not have a shuttle and you have to pay for parking but the hotel staff was nice, room was clean and located close to ballpark. There was construction going on that woke us up early.”

“We were very excited about the upscale quality and the location of the hotel. The staff was mostly helpful, although we had to call and remind several times about some things. The doorman did absolutely nothing and I cannot believe the hotel pays him. The room setup was amazing and the size of the rooms were great. Outside of the room, the area by the elevator was very dirty and the stairwells were simply scary. The rooms did not seem very soundproof. We did not appreciate the hall noise at 1:00 AM and I am sure our neighbors did not appreciate my daughter crying at 5:00 AM! The location was perfect for going to the Cardinals game, the arch, and anything else downtown. The awesome room trumped most of the bad qualities!”

“With 2 families, 4 adults 5 young kids we convinced them to pay for our cab ride to their other facility they offered as an alternative, the Roberts Vista. The Vista is a apartment/ownership complex going through a remodeling. No pool, dirty hallways, a dreary lobby. Certainly this was not a 3 star facility. We were disappointed.”

“This hotel was the least customer-service oriented hotel ever. Parking charges were an unpleasant surprise. My wedding gift (a watch) was missing from my room right after the first housekeeping visit. (I filed a police report.) I do not feel that hotel management seems to care. I was told that I should have used the "Do not disturb" sign on my door or worn the watch to avoid this from happening. My children went to get a snack from the vending machine on the floors indicating those areas; there was an empty space where machines used to be. We called downstairs to inquire; they said they removed the machines due to too many thefts of the items. The pool was the dirtiest pool I've ever been to; actually a visible slimy ring around it and so murky you could not see clearly to the bottom of the pool. Others complained to me while I went poolside one day. We had 3 in our room and had to request 3 sets of towels/washcloths every day; otherwise, we were left with just 1. So, although the price was reasonable, having an item stolen from my room started the trip off poorly. The rest of the complaints (understaffing, filthiness of pool and other areas of hotel, expensive parking, etc.) seemed minor, in comparison.”
