  • Very comfortable and luxurious.
  • Parking fee, a fair distance with 2 heavy bags.

“My daughter and I loved this hotel. It was very lovely with old type character. The linens were very luxurious. The bed was comfortable. The housekeeping staff is to be commended. I would not hesitate to stay again!”

  • Outstanding service staff, excellent restaurant.
  • Many stores in the associated arcade were out of business.

“It far exceeded my expectations. Some earlier reviews had complained about indifferent service staff, damp rooms etc. We found just the opposite, perhaps because ownership passed to Marriott a few years ago. Service staff always had a smile and a friendly word. The room was clean and attractively decorated. The restaurant served an outstanding breakfast buffet.”

  • Lack of electric outlets in the room. Lack of elevator info in the elevator.

“Extremely beautiful. Good staff. Surprised at so many tips required. Pricey restaurant for normal fare not appreciated.”

  • The train station.
  • High cost of parking.

“Located in train station and located in a mall. Obviously having financial problems in the mall but surviving. Parking across the street. Easy in and out of the non covered parking area. Not much around except for downtown businesses and Civic Center.”

  • The architecture of the historic building was phenomenal.
  • Outside of the hotel there were homeless people, did not feel safe at night outside the building.

  • The beds were so comfortable.
  • The bagel place downstairs was terrible. Took 30 minutes to get a bagel and the staff was rude.

“The hotel was beautiful. the staff was very friendly and helpful. the beds were amazingly comfortable. The housekeeping staff kept the hotel very clean. The only complaint i have would be about the Einstein Bagel shop located on the property. It took them 30 minutes to fill my bagel order. When I asked the employee about when I would receive my order she replied can't you see there are only 2 of us working here. You need to be patient. I then asked to speak to a manager, and she replied, you are speaking to her. The bagel shop is not likely to be owned by the hotel, but nonetheless, I would avoid it all together.”

  • Very comfortable bedding. Very friendly staff.
  • Did not care for the toiletries provided. Hotel restraunt breakfast a bit bland.

“Nice hotel. Very fancy & 4-star appeal, but casual atmosphere. Staff friendly. Good location, lots to do. Very clean & comfortable room. Felt very safe & secure there. Have already recommended this place to lot of people. Can't wait to go back.”

  • Humidity in the hotel room.

“We really enjoyed the setting of the hotel being in the Union Station. Even though it seems as if a few years ago, it was a bustling mall atmosphere, it still is a fun setting. The beds were the most comfortable on our trip, but we had a difficult time getting rid of the humidity in the room (the 80% humidity in STL, didn't help). Overall it is a very good hotel, friendly staff and most unique setting.”

“Self parking, then walking through the mall with luggage is awkward. But this is a great hotel. We enjoyed the mall and restaurants. The hotel room was large and comfortable. The bathroom layout was great.”
