  • Beautiful
  • A little worn at the seams.

“Excellent staff and amenities. Very beautiful and comfortable. Needs slight maintenance but very cosmetic. Overall, wonderful experience in quaint city.”

  • Old time charm with updated modern amenities.
  • None.

“Very friendly and attentive hotel staff. They made you feel at home. Their genuine hospitality was beyond what I have experienced. The hotel has an old time charm. But modern amenities are all there. Very comfortable bed.”

  • Front desk staff was helpful and friendly, as was staff in the bar.
  • The first room
had not been cleaned. Bad first impression, though the second room was okay.

“The hotel entrance and reception area is very attractive, and the woman working the front desk was very friendly and hospitable. We arrived well after the 4 pm check-in time, but the first room we were given had not been cleaned. The bed was unmade and there were empty water bottles and candy wrappers on the nightstand. We were quickly given a second room and offered free appetizers and drinks in the Irish pub attached to the hotel. Unfortunately, the kitchen closed before we could try the appetizers, but the pub staff graciously offered us extra drinks instead. The room we were given was clean and attractive, and the bed was very comfortable.”

  • Hotel and restaurant staff combined with the historic setting made this a very satisfying experience.
  • I didn't like having to pay for parking.

“The hotel and restaurant staff went out of their way to make us comfortable and made the trip quite enjoyable. The atmosphere is one of quiet elegance and creates an illusion that you've stepped back in time to a day when courtesy and quality matters.”

  • Unique and cozy.
  • Needed two beds.

“Would like to stay at this hotel again! Reminded me of a bed and breakfast.”

  • Very unique styling. Not a cookie cutter generic hotel.
  • Parking could be an issue.

“The staff was over the top friendly and welcoming. The room was spacious but not cold. There were lots of personal touches, like Aveda products, flat screen TV, writing desk, feather comforter on bed. Truly a very enjoyable stay for us.”

  • Location.

“Great hotel. Great location. Most workers are extremely friendly and willing to help. Clean. Small rooms. Good Continental Breakfast.”

  • Bed was very comfortable.
  • The view out the window was an alley.

“Not very satisfied. Fine for business person just there for business only. No pool, bad for family trip. View out window was a four foot wide alley with an AC unit that the restaurant staff was using as a smoking bench at all hours of the night.”

  • Very personable!

“This hotel is as close to a bed and breakfast, as one gets and still be in the heart of St. Louis! I wish every town had a Seven Gables Inn.”

  • Ambience, location, convenience.
  • No elevator.

“The hotel was wonderful. The only problem with this hotel was the age, of course, that's what gives it the ambience and appeal. I went with my older daughter who loved it, had I gone with my son, he would have hated the lack of elevator and age of hotel - would have missed the modern conveniences we come to expect in hotels.”

  • It seemed to have a nice upscale dining breakfast area.
  • We had to pay a $14 parking fee that we were not aware of until we got there.

“It was in a great location for restaurants and safety concerns. We would have liked it even more if we did not have to pay for the parking. We appreciated how helpful the staff was!”

  • Very unique and had that bed and breakfast feel.
  • No real parking and valet was $17.00/night. A little high I felt.

“A very historic and unique hotel. Locate in a very upscale area. Plenty of restaurants and bars within walking distance.”

  • Comfortable and friendly.
  • Parking is limited.

“The Seven Gables was more like a bed and breakfast than the hotel we expected. I often stay in Clayton, but had never stayed here before. The ladies in our party really liked it, even over the Sheraton a couple blocks away. Good restaurants and night life within walking distance, and the best breakfast we encountered in 3 weeks on the road.”

  • Excellent location.
  • Staff not particularly helpful. No elevator.

“Nice hotel with unique architecture and comfortable rooms. Good location for business or leisure, but not particularly suited for families. The staff was not especially helpful but generally friendly. This hotel has no elevators, so avoid it if you have difficulty with mobility. Also, do not count on help with luggage. There are no carts, and the valet may or may not be interested in helping you.”

  • Nice quaint hotel like a B&B romantic and historic.
  • Not good for families and for parties of more than 2.

“Nice hotel but a lot of additional charges. With only 32 rooms. Cannot accommodate guests with more than 2 people.”
