Cleanliness:[1] • Staff:[6] • Location:[8]

  • Quiet.
  • Bugs.

“The staff was great, but the bugs were not. I am definitely afraid of spiders and found myself having to kill too many with my shoes. The crickets. do not let me go there. I will never stay there ever again. If I wanted to sleep in a room filled with bugs, I would stay in a tent.”

Cleanliness:[7] • Staff:[7] • Location:[8]

  • I guess I liked the comfortable atmosphere, like you were right at home.
  • I did not like the cleanliness or the overall attractiveness of the decor.

“I thought the hotel is pretty average, nothing to special about it. Good for a short trip stay.”

Cleanliness:[10] • Staff:[6] • Location:[10]

  • Very easy to find not far from the interstate, very clean, felt safe & secure.
  • The continental breakfast could have offered more of a variety of food & drinks; we went to a neighboring restaurant instead.

“The hotel staff was friendly and helpful with directions on getting us back on the road to our destination. The rooms were spacious and clean. We had extras such as coffee maker, iron/board, hair dryer, etc. if needed.”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[6] • Location:[9]

  • When the pipe under the sink broke they gave me a new room.
  • I returned to my room once to find the cleaning staff had left my room open and unattended.

“I stayed at the hotel 4 nights. It was ok, clean. The area of the hotel where I was quiet. I was disturbed and angry to return the second day to my room to find my room door ajar and unattended by the cleaning staff that was down the hall in another room. The hotel manager told me people make mistakes and I was too mad about the situation.”

Cleanliness:[5] • Staff:[7] • Location:[4]

  • The hot tub and pool facilities were clean.
  • I had to use a plunger when I first arrived, before I used my bathroom.

“The Iowa City Travelodge was what I had expected: a 2 star hotel.”

Cleanliness:[8] • Staff:[10] • Location:[10]

  • Personnel were friendly and helpful.
  • There was moss in the pool room and hot tub was scummy.

“The hotel was convenient for our purposes. The room was clean and smelled fresh. The halls were clean and entrances were convenient. There was somewhat of a draft from the outside door and a humming from the vent system in the bathroom.”

Cleanliness:[4] • Staff:[9] •

  • Friendly and helpful.
  • Needs to be a little cleaner.

“Friendly and helpful but the place needs a little fixing up and the paring lot was icy.”

Cleanliness:[3] • Staff:[9] • Location:[5]

  • The staff was very nice.
  • The outside door made the room quite cold even with the heat on. Dirty.

“The hotel room was dirty and cold. The refrigerator was in pieces. There was hair in the bathroom as well as little, tiny bugs. The walls were very thin. **But, the staff was very nice.”

Cleanliness:[6] • Staff:[10] • Location:[4]

  • The staff of the motel was very courteous and helpful with questions regarding the area.
  • Bathroom floor could have been cleaned better; towels were thin.

“Excellent hotel for an inexpensive night's stay.”

Cleanliness:[10] • Staff:[10] • Location:[10]

  • Staff was very friendly.
  • You could hear people in the rooms on either side of you.

“It was a good hotel for the weekend, since we were there to watch a football game. The only issue was that the walls were thin and you could hear people in the rooms next to you, but the for the most part, there were older people there and it was quiet pretty early at night. Staff was wonderful.”

Cleanliness:[3] • Staff:[5] • Location:[8]

  • The bed linens at least seemed to be clean.
  • The "free breakfast" was nearly gone by 8:30am. They don't seem to refill it either.

“My two young children, 7 & 8, stayed there briefly, for one short night. I didn't really interact with the staff a great deal, although they were able to provide excellent directions once I arrived in Iowa city and realized my map quest map was bad and was lost at 12:30am. The room was dusty, but the bed linens at least were clean and crisp. Our toilet was broken. The bathtub was so filthy I would not allow my children to take a bath in it, and I hated that we had to shower in it! The free breakfast was nearly all gone by the time we woke up and checked out at 8:30. The location where we parked was downright spooky-there were no lights at all in the lot behind the hotel. Being alone with two children in a strange city, I did not find that comforting at all. But the room did the trick and provides a sleeping location for the night.”

“The staff was friendly, breakfast was great, and it was easy to access the internet.”

Cleanliness:[4] • Staff:[8] • Location:[7]

  • The bathroom was clean and the bed sheets were also clean.
  • The curtains in the room were not clean the carpet was loose on the floor and the over all maintained of the building needed work.

“I would have liked to have gotten this hotel for a better price than I did. My husband and I had stayed in Iowa City in June and had a room much nicer for less money. When I was working to get this room at the Travelodge it was much harder to get a good price than before. When I would try a new price it would not let me change without busting myself down to a lower star hotel, I had started as high as I felt I could and I felt as if I didn't get the chance to stay in the star range I would have liked to. I would stay at this hotel again if it was the only hotel in the price range on the next visit, I would hope to get a better room at the same price or better in a 2 or 3-star hotel.”

Cleanliness:[4] • Staff:[6] • Location:[7]

  • Inexpensive, friendly desk help, good breakfast.
  • Uncomfortable, worn out bed sagged in the middle.

“We had to make a quick trip to Iowa City on the spur of the moment. The desk clerk was friendly when we checked in after 9:00 pm. The hallway and room carpets were clean. The bed spread was faded and worn, the king size bed was visually sloped in the middle and I had a hard time sleeping. This is an older facility, so there are a few structural things that could be updated as well. Next door is a neat pizza restaurant and the breakfast was pretty good. I guess the price was fitting, but the beds really need to be replaced.”

Cleanliness:[10] • Staff:[10] • Location:[9]

  • Excellent WI FI connection.
  • A couple of maintenance items in room.

“The attached restaurant was very good - comparable to TGIF or Applebees. The common area was attractive and there was 24 hour coffee. I needed a late checkout which the hotel accommodated without a problem.”

Cleanliness:[7] • Staff:[4] • Location:[8]

  • I loved the door right by the parking lot for loading and unloading luggage.
  • The breakfast was pretty good.

“Overall, the hotel surpassed our expectations. The location is very easy to find and the breakfast is above the normal continental breakfast. We left feeling ready to go. Each room has a convenient door right into the parking lot for loading and unloading luggage. That is not only convenient but keep the halls quieter for everyone. Overall, a great buy for the money.”

Cleanliness:[7] • Staff:[7] • Location:[3]

  • Clean, comfortable.
  • The parking lot didn't feel safe.

“This hotel was exactly what I expected. I didn't like that the parking lot backed up to a wooded area. I wasn't a fan of that. Other than that, the hotel was great.”

Cleanliness:[8] • Staff:[10] • Location:[9]

  • Attached restaurant.
  • Older motel with worn carpet. Etc.

“It is fine for the price for a few nights with family. I certainly wouldn't choose it for a romantic weekend with my spouse. No ambiance.”
