• The countryside location was nice.
• The bathroom was pretty outdated and well used.

“For the price it served it's purpose. It was fairly quiet and easily accessible from main roads and highway. Facility a bit outdated but room was clean and adequate.”

• Good location, nice room.
• No lights in back parking lot.

“This hotel served my purpose which was traveling for work. Very comfortable room. It was quiet too, which is always a plus. They offered me a coupon for a free beer if I chose to eat at their restaurant. Didn't have time, but that was nice.”

• Very comfortable bed and pillows.
• The woman who greeted us was very professional but not overly friendly.

“Excellent location. Comfortable room. Kids loved the swimming pool.”

• It was in a good location.
• Carpets had terrible stains.

“This hotel was adequate, though worse than other Holiday Inn's I've stayed at. If you're just looking for a place to stay while you're attending other events, it's fine. If you're looking for a getaway and want the hotel to be part of the experience, look elsewhere.”

• Front desk staff was very friendly.
• It seemed much like a day rate motel. We were a little disappointed because the star rating was very favorable.

“Hotel was a little rundown. It was connected to a Hampton Inn that we had previously stayed in and we wished we were over there. We could tell we were the second class citizens.”

• I liked it when we checked out.
• I did not like anything about the hotel. It is much below the standard.

• The location was very convenient.
• It seemed dated and run down.

“Overall this hotel was okay. But, it was clear that it is in need of renovation. The lighting was dim, the mattress was well-worn, and the bathroom facilities were also well-worn. The towels were cheap and thin, as were the linens on the bed. The staff when we were there were very nice.”

• No staff on hand to complain about excessive noise.

“Though it is winter in Iowa, residents expect the walkways and parking lots to be cleared of ice and snow. It was apparent that no effort was made to do this since the first snow fall of the season. One also expects to have a relatively quiet room. The partygoers were running through the hallways and screaming until after 3:00Am when the police finally came. We tried to complain about the noise, but no staff member answered the phone. My husband dressed and went to the front desk, no one was on duty. Obviously other guests called the police. In the morning no effort was made to compensate us for the sleepless night.”

• Convenient location to the friends we were visiting.
• Poor quality of room, (tub/sink in poor condition, towels like sandpaper, burnt out light bulbs, etc.

“We would not stay at this hotel again, and were very surprised that it had a three-star rating. It did not deserve more than two-stars at best. In addition to the items listed in question 15, we can add that the shower curtain was so long that about 8 inches was lying on the tub floor as you shower. We ran out of Kleenex and requested another box when we requested more towels. We got the towels not the Kleenex - pretty irritating since we both had colds. The towels were the worst - thin, worn, and rough. Overall, there was not much about this Holiday Inn to like.”

• The location was very convenient and staff was very friendly.
• The layout of the grounds was a bit confusing.

“The location was very convenient for near by attractions. It was easy to find off a major highway. The staff was wonderful. The room was very comfortable and clean. Dinner in the restaurant was wonderful and the staff there was very friendly. Overall, it was a great stay.”

• Poor beds, unfriendly front counter help.

• The woman at the front desk was very sweet and helpful.
• Filthy, smelly, gross, nasty, did I say it smells.

“This place needs to be updated. They need to find all new cleaning staff. The carpet has never been cleaned and it is so dirty and smells. Stay at the new beautiful Marriott across the highway. Holiday Inn needs to go and check out the Marriott to see how it is done!”

• Complimentary refreshments available in the lobby in the evening.
• Clock in room had not been adjusted for daylight savings almost a week later. Also, the alarm was set and went off at 05:00 my first morning.

“This is not a 3 star property. The towels were thin and cheap; the fitness area was cramped (I literally hit my head on the ceiling when I was on the cardio equipment and I am 6'3", carpets in the hall were dirty.”

• Friendly, courteous staff.
• Shoddy construction; thin walls, floors.

“Attached to the Hampton Inn and way out north from Iowa City, so not really convenient to anything except the interstate. Hallways are narrow, which can be a problem when there are appliances like refrigerators sitting outside rooms. The hotel does offer an afternoon "reception," but pretty tame offerings. The restaurant was empty, but not surprisingly, given the slow service and limited offerings. But the staff was gracious and helpful.”
