• Very friendly staff
• Initally was in smoking room

“The staff was friendly and helpful. The pool was clean and the hot tub was hot. The business center could have had faster internet, but worked. They had a bar and resturant in the hotel. We visited the bar and the staff was excellent there as well.”

• Very comfortable beds and pillows.
• Small room /hot tub closed all morning until after checkout time for cleaning, kids very disappointed.

• Lots of pillows and bed was comfortable.
• Not as clean as I would have expected for non-smoking room.

“Had nice pool area full of kids no time set aside for older pool users. Nice one star hotel because of pool area if cleaner and pool time set for others than kids would be a 2.5 star or higher.”

• Great for a family and yet good for a romantic getaway.
• It was way to warm in the room.

“It is a great hotel for the whole family or for a romantic getaway. There is a huge pool, a new hot tub, exercise room and game room. The internet was a bit slow, but otherwise the whole experience was great.”

• The pillows were wonderful!
• The room was smelly, beds were only a double.

“The hotel was affordable; the hotel has a pillow menu if you need a thin or thicker pillow they will deliver it to your door. My head felt it was floating on air during the night, too bad the bed wasn't as comfortable. It was good for the price we paid.”

• I was freezing and they didn't have heat.

“The temperature dropped and when I got to my room, the air had been running and it was freezing. I turned it off immediately, but the room did not warm up. I called that evening and asked for heat. They said the heat was off for the season (which I understand - the weather was unseasonably cold). I took a shower to warm up and the water wouldn't get hot! I called the front desk and they said I could come down for a space heater, but I was in bed. Just a miserable night because of the temperature. Not very clean either!”

• It is convenient to the college and has a lot of activities to do for all ages.
• I don't feel it is the cleanliest hotel. Needs some updating.

“I have stayed here several times and it is a great place to stay if you have kids - there are several things for kids to do. Swim, play ping pong etc.”

• Tiny bathroom.

• The bar staff were great.
• This hotel needs updating. It's falling behind for a Holiday Inn.

• Friendly desk people.
• Air conditioner in the room did not work.

“The room was clean and well stocked. However, the air conditioning unit did not work well and it was too hot in the room. I reported the situation to the front desk upon checkout. Everything else was fine.”

• Dirty phone, front desk did not answer phone for wake up.

“The room looked clean until you wanted to use the phone ..that was filthy! The desk space was very nice, the pillows HARD, the front desk staff was busy watching TV when I wanted to check in and when I called down for a wake up call they never answered the phone even after 3 tries. The room was nice sized, the pool area was very busy (which is a good thing), vending was inconvenient to guest rooms. Not someplace that I would recommend for a business traveler other than the free wireless and the good desk.”

• Good location in Mason City. Easy to find and get to places.
• I hated all of the smoke in this hotel. The pool area and commons areas are smoking areas.

“For a Holiday Inn I thought this hotel was a little dated. All of the commons areas and pool area were smoking. The rooms were ok, pretty basic without much extra. The rooms were also a little dark. I enjoyed the business center with a computer with internet access. Great game room at this hotel, it has ping pong, pool table, ball table and video games.”

• It had a bed.
• I felt like I paid hotel rates for a Motel room.

“I was not happy. I had e-mailed a request direct to the hotel for two beds and a non-smoking room. We were put in a separate building in a room with one bed and a pullout couch and it was a smoking room. We were hoping to enjoy the pool facilities, but being in a separate building would have required us to walk across a dark parking lot in a very cold wind in wet suits if we had gone to the pool. For us it was nothing more than a bed for the night. Not an enjoyable experience.”
