“I was traveling from Chicago to Austin, Texas. Got a little tired and decided to pull over and get a room with my wife and 4 kids. Two of my children have serious medical conditions and myself having a sever case of Asthma, this seemed like the best choice for us. The person at the desk was pleasant. The check in procedure was swift. Upon entering our room I was a little put off by how out-dated the room was. The color scheme, the bedding wasn't very appealing but the room seemed to be clean and so far, the service was good. We began to unload our cooler items into the fridge when I noticed mold around the gasket on the fridge door. It also felt sticky and grimy. It was almost midnight and I was going to hit the road early so. I went into my room and pulled the bedding back only to find stains on the blanket. Again, it was late, the kids were getting settled, so I decided to pull the comforter off the bed, remove the disgusting blanket and lie on the sheets. The rest of the night was uneventful until it became morning and time for showers. Mold again! My shower tile, the soap dish, the caulking around the edges of the tub! At this point, I realized that this place had a cleaning issue. Now this is where the story gets good. I my kids started packing up and I went out to the SUV to start loading up. My daughter tried to hand me the key but I was certain that I had a key on me so I told her to hang on to it. I got back to the room and realized that I didn't have a key so I went back outside to retrieve it when the owner came outside. He called me over and asked me why we trashed the room. Now I always do a final walk through when we stay in hotels. With 4 kids, there's always something left behind. Before I could do my walk through and return the keys, the housekeeping staff went into the room. My 5-year-old son had left some cereal on the table and had spilled some water next to it. Also one of my teenagers had left some cookies on the floor. This would have taken all of 15 seconds to clean up but apparently the housekeeping staff looked at the mess and reported it to the manager. He starts yelling at me and insulting my children saying things like I hope they don't leave your house like this. You need to talk to your children. He was yelling so much when all of a sudden I hear my 5-year-old in the background yelling back to me saying it's my fault dad. I spilled the cereal. The manager then took me back to the room to show me what he interpreted as a mess. I took this opportunity to let him know how filthy and moldy his hotel was. He didn't want to talk about that. He just went on and on about my kids to the point where I had to tell him that if he made one more comment about my kids that we were going to have a different type of problem. So that's basically my story. I loaded up my truck and bid farewell. He asked me never to return to his hotel again and I will oblige. As I drove away it occurred to me that if they had only waited 5 minutes for me to double check my room, clean up after my kids and check out properly, I would have overlooked the stained bedding, moldy fridge and dirty bathroom. Now my personal mission for every review board that I can find will be to inform the public about this place and moreover, the owner.”

“We have stayed there before, each time we visit Springfield. This is the first time we have had such a hard mattress.”

  • The Jacuzzi in the room was great.
  • When we decided to eat, it was about 9 PM, the place within walking was closed.

“This was a wonderful place for us to stay on our vacation. We are nonsmokers and did not have smell anything bad. The room was much nicer than I anticipated. We got one with a Jacuzzi so we could feel really pampered. It was great. We were there last summer.”
