“This was the nicest hotel I've stayed at through Priceline. Very comfortable double beds, but wish they had queens.”

“Gateway is very beautifully landscaped. It is owned by the University foundation so lots of students work there. They were very helpful and professional. It was very nice and I would consider staying again. However, they only have double beds in the rooms and they were too soft for my back.”

“Haven't stayed there for twenty years. Many good memories, but disappointed in Sunday brunch.”

“Be aware, the Gateway DOES NOT HONOR ON-LINE ROOM-TYPE CONFIRMATIONS! Just got back from my third and last stay there. Had two rooms booked and confirmed on-line, one being a king room for my wife and I on the ground floor. Were told at check-in that they had none on the ground floor, that all they had on the ground were twin rooms. Knew was a lie cause we stayed across the hall in a king room the previous year. As we were in town for a family wedding, we knew we were screwed. I confronted them at the desk again at checkout, and they asked if the reservation/confirmation was made on-line, and they told me they do not honor on-line requests (ours was made many months in advance), so basically it was "too bad, so sad, you needed a room and we got your money, and there is nothing you can do about it"! So be aware! Have stayed twice before, not with great results then also. Had our wedding reception there 2 years ago, my room was buggy, lights were out in the bath and the first staff called basically told me I was stupid about the bugs and lighting. Was eventually taken care of, but not without issues. The wait staff dumped a whole tray of water on my step-daughter to be, and the head waitress was very arrogant about doing anything about it. Have stayed because it looks nice and the price was usually competitive, but there are too many good options next door and down the road for me to stay there again!” Amenities at The Hotel at Gateway Center, Ames
