  • Nothing.
  • Everything except man who rented it to me and he was nice but did me no favors by renting me & my daughter this filthy, stinking, creepy room. Bates motel.

“Rented room 9-01-08 at 11 pm with my 5 yr. old daughter. Left room at 11:30 because the smell and dampness and mold were so bad that her eyes were swelled shut within very short time. She was sick all night. She was still sick today and still giving her Zyrtec. She does have bad allergies and I did not realize this place was so awful until I got in it. The room was old, smelled of mold, cigarettes, not sure what else the smell was. Beds were full size with mattress that was off of a sofa bed. Rug was hideous and could not take shoes off. The flooring was broken and filthy. Bathroom was terrible and had two towels and one face towel with one bar of soap and no shampoo. It was the worst place I have ever stay in and the outside was creepy and very few lights to see the way to room. It was an overall horrible experience that I will hope to never have again. My daughter was scared and cried most the night. I would strongly recommend to remodel the whole place and get someone to quit lying about what this place has because it is easier to write what it doesn't have. The name fits the place because nobody has done a thing to it since 1876 from what we experienced. I have called requesting my check back to me for the 25 minute stay and was treated rudely by the receptionist or answering service. Not surprised by it and not sure if I will ever hear from them.”

  • I love the breakfast buffet, fantastic waffle bar!
  • I would like to stay right in the middle of downtown but it's to expensive.

“I've stayed at the 1876 Inn at least 3 times and loved it. My room was clean and the staff was very friendly. I love the reasonable price. It's always been quiet and relaxing at the 1876 Inn. The best part is the breakfast buffet, the waffles are amazing. I've been there often enough now that the staff remembers me and that's really nice.”

  • Leaving.
  • Everything else.

“It took one hour to check in and multiple trips back and forth to the front desk because the keys to the room would not work. When we finally got in the room! We asked a non smoking room and the first room they gave us smelled as if someone had just finished smoking in there. Even had a used ash tray on top of the ancient TV. The next room they gave us had literally just been rejected by some bikers based on the fact that there was a puddle outside the door. They missed the joy that lay inside. Here again was the decor of despair. The off color walls were complemented by the smell of mildew permeating the room. Two beds, an ancient TV and a bathroom; the only difference between this room and the first one is that it was dirtier. The bathtub contained a live spider in its web. This spider had made its home here, here in the bathtub, unmolested by say, a sponge or cleansers. We went to get some dinner in hopes that food would put us into a coma sufficient to numb us to the mildew smell of the room. How naive we were. We returned to the room around 11pm. I pulled back the cover of the bed and a large spider ran out across the sheets. I hate spiders. I especially hate when they live in the bed where I am supposed to sleep. My friend who is an entomologist, looked at it and said, bad news, it's a Brown Recluse spider. The night staff person did not greet me, nor offer to help. As soon as I began speaking his expression turned quickly from morose to belligerent. I said, there are poisonous spiders in the bed. It is unclean and unsafe. He turned his back and walked away from me. I told him that this was the worst service I had ever had and this was a terrible establishment. This was not merely an instance of bad service, but a truly horrifying experience: an unclean, spider infested motel run by sociopaths.”

  • Nothing.
  • The room, the staff.

“Check in took over a half an hour, the room was overpoweringly musty and the bathroom was dirty. When we pulled the blanket back on one of the beds we found a live, poisonous spider (a brown recluse) in the sheets. When we reported the problem to the front desk, the night clerk did not offer another room or any sort of assistance; in fact, he told us that if we didn't like it, we could go elsewhere. The whole experience was so horrible that we left immediately, cutting short our vacation. From my visit, it was clear that the hotel was run by a husband and wife couple.”

  • Very friendly owners and they served a great breakfast.
  • Questionable stains on the pillow case.

“Conveniently located close to downtown Eureka Springs. The rooms were very adequate for what we paid. Service was very good.”
