• Great staff, very accommodating to us, room was very comfortable and nice- sized.
• Lighting in room was poor; water pressure was low in sink.

“We would definitely go there again. The staff was extremely courteous and right there if we needed anything at all. The room was nice and comfortable and very roomy for the two of us. They need to consider fixing a bit of old wall paper, update a few of the other things there but it was nice experience.”

• I loved the classic style of the hotel.

“This hotel was absolutely gorgeous. The staff was so polite, the room was comfortable, and the hotel is within walking distance from the power and light district. Although we only stayed one night, it was a very enjoyable one.”

• The lobby was beautiful.
• The shower liner in the bathroom was moldy. The "wallpaper" was peeling in our room. The A/C unit was too loud.

• They failed to put in a wake up call both days and didn't even have a hair dryer.

“They failed to put in a wake up call both days and didn't even have a hair dryer. When I asked for them to deliver one at 9:15 am the following morning they woke us up at 7:45 to deliver. I was late to every morning function I had planned because even though I put in the wake up calls they never came. Not real happy with my decision to stay there. I thought it was going to be a special weekend and it wound up being one of the most stressful trips I have taken in a long time.”

• Boutique hotel with lots of character.
• Valet parking the only option.

“This is an older boutique hotel that has been updated nicely to preserve the facility's character. It is well located for events at the Sprint Center and the new Power and Light District in downtown Kansas City. Valet parking is the only option, but otherwise, it is a convenient, stylish hotel.”

• Would have preferred light blocking curtains vs. wood blinds. Room was too bright at night.

• Very classy, staff was great. Within walking distance of Sprint Center and P&L District.
• Rooms were a shade small, but expected in older hotel.

“Very happy with stay. Staff was friendly and helpful. Take advantage of valet, hard to get in and out without this. Room was a shade small, but was well maintained and is worth staying again. I recommend if you are staying downtown, going to Sprint Center, or P&L District (within walks of all areas).”

• Wine list over priced and a bizarre waiter.

“Overall, for its age, it has been well maintained and has many nice appointments relating to its art deco period. The restaurant was very good and the hotel staff was very friendly.”

• It was quaint, charming and old-world. Friendly, helpful staff and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay..

• Pay for parking/valet and cost for internet.

• The faucet, comfortable bed, spacious room.
• We had to check out.

“The staff was very professional and friendly. The history and period decor was very refreshing compared to newer hotels. This was my second stay at the Phillips and I love it! I would recommend it to anyone looking for a romantic get-away setting.”

• The staff was excellent; hotel was clean and very nice.
• The air conditioning didn't work very well and there wasn't any light in the shower, it was dark.

“It was pouring down rain when we arrived. The staff made sure we stayed dry and helped us every step of the way. Our waiter at the restaurant was excellent. The only problem that we had was that the room was a little warm and it was very dark in the shower. But we had a very nice stay and would use this hotel again.”

• The paint was peeling in the bathtub.

“Loved this hotel. It felt like we were staying in a glamorous hotel from the 50's. All the staff was very friendly. We will definitely return.”

• We liked the uniqueness. It was as though we were in Europe.
• The only thing is that the bathroom is small, but people should be able to deal with this.

“The bed and bedding were exceptionally comfortable. The room was large. The cafe serves a wonderful European-type breakfast - oatmeal and fruit beautifully presented.”

• Awesome Art Deco maintained in nearly original appearance.
• The views from the room were poor, overlooking the wondrous roof top.

“I was impressed with the way the hotel has maintained as much of the original art deco appearance throughout. This is evident from the grand staircase to the bar and restaurant, and even down to the simple gravy boat spickets in the bathroom. Incredible to see in today's market!”

• Very friendly staff, willing to smile even when their totally soak with rain water from parking cars.
• The wind noise at night, slamming doors and the maid service coming back in the evening to do whatever.

“Over all, I like this hotel for the fact of its age and historical feel, built in 1931 downtown land mark. Center of Kansas City, Mo made it easy to travel in any direction when you are working all around town and out in the sub areas.”
