“This hotel is in downtown Kansas City, Missouri (not Kansas City, Kansas - make sure your GPS knows the difference). It was built around 1920 and renovated recently. The interior is amazing - dark wood panels, a wonderful art deco statue, lots of carved wood and wrought iron. There is a workout room but no pool. The 'continental breakfast' is more like a buffet and the food was wonderful.”

“I've stayed at the Westin at crown center just about a mile from this hotel. No way this hotel would compare to the Westin.”

“The valet parking is not my choice, but it worked out OK for us. The front desk was extremely busy but the girls never showed signs of frustration. The room was decent size for the age of the hotel and clean. I enjoyed the decor in the lobbies and the dining room. The only meal we would have enjoyed there would be breakfast and we went down to eat but first asked how much the buffet was $17 for breakfast is a little steep. We left to eat somewhere else. Check out was quick and easy. Overall good experience.”

“This hotel is a classic, very comfortable rooms, excellent staff. I spent a very romantic weekend and it absolutely met all my expectations. The hotel does show its age, especially in the hallways and on the carpet in the rooms but it just adds to the charm of this hotel, if you are used to chain style 4 star hotel this is probably not the place for you. I really enjoyed the comfortable bed and the staff was excellent, they were helpful with directions and dinner options. I was a little disappointed that there was no swimming pool and the restaurant was not nearly as good as
I thought it would be, however you have multiple dining options within walking distance. I loved it and would stay there again, not real kid friendly but great for business or a romantic weekend.”

“I was very dissatisfied. The room was very small, no comfort, the room was dusty from the tables to the TV, dust everywhere. Coffee pot never cleaned from previous guest, stains in the carpet, hair in the tub. It was very disgusting. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone.”

“For a romantic getaway, or if a person really wants to be pampered, Hotel Phillips is the place to stay. I would go again in a heartbeat. Very pleased. Only disadvantage is the downtown KC parking.”

“The room was very nice except for this banging sound outside our window all night. The only way we were able to sleep was that the AC was louder and drowned out the noise. The parking was horrible. When we left, we called ahead but still had to wait over 30 minutes for them to bring our car.”

“Nice hotel. Expensive and inconvenient parking. Staff was excellent, room was nice. Hotel lobby was beautiful. Hotel is very busy on weekends as a hotspot for weddings.”

“Was not very impressed. It is very old building. Their was construction going on outside so the sidewalks were all torn apart and very scary looking!

“Hotel personnel were friendly and helpful. The room was very large and nicely decorated (despite a few odd touches that just didn't work in my opinion - like a round framed picture over the bed that looked like a port hole on a cruise ship and a sofa that faced nothing but a blank wall). It was, all in all, a comfortable room. A cozy robe hung waiting for me in the closet and a large deep tub beckoned. The bed was a little too soft, but comfortable nonetheless. My only real complaint was that the thermostat did not work - it was unseasonably chilly this weekend and when I tried to turn on the heat, it wouldn't kick on. The hotel was a little difficult to locate and there was a lot of construction going on, necessitating entrance to the hotel through the bar area. This could not be helped, of course, and the normal hotel entrance looked very classy and elegant. The valets were all extremely pleasant and helpful. It was a pleasant experience although I think four stars is a stretch. I would definitely stay there again.”

“Hotel is old, but very clean and friendly. Location may be prime for business traveler, but was not good for a weekend leisure trip. We had to drive to all events, activities, and entertainment.”

“I would describe Hotel Phillip as adequate, but not particularly fantastic. It is in a good location for anyone having business in the downtown area. However, there is a considerable amount of construction going on in the area. The room was a little cold and we could not get our heater to work. Several small problems in the room added up to only a moderate comfort level. (cold room, one light didn't work, small trash items on bathroom floor, missing bottle of water, etc).”
