“The hotel was disgusting! There were cockroaches everywhere in our room. The phone was broken, and it didn¿t even have buttons on it. It took forever to get checked in and the elevators didn¿t work and the carpet needed to be replaced. And the window in our room was broken and the room smelled bad!”

• Wonderful view, easy access to the beach, close to restaurants.
• Dirty carpet, no extra outlets, scary elevators, strange shower heads.

“My husband & I just got back from a long weekend in Galveston. The hotel location was wonderful with "Fish Tales" an excellent moderately priced restaurant just across the street. The view from our balcony was awesome facing east we could see the "Balinese Room", Murdock¿s bathhouse souvenir shop and a jetty. The birds weren't shy; they come right up to your balcony to be fed. I enjoyed myself a lot. With that being said I would never pay the busy season full price to stay here. The carpet was filthy; in fact I ruined a good pair of socks walking on it. The beds were comfy. There are no extra wall outlets. The air conditioning does work if you turn the knob to 90 even though you want it cool. This may be a one time stay for us. I think I¿ll stick to renting the beach houses on Crystal Beach from now on.”

• Location and it has balconies with an ocean view.
• Old. It needs to be renovated.

“The elevators need to be replaced. The rooms need new mattresses for the beds. The carpets need to be replaced and also the hall carpets.”

• Great location.
• Hotel very poorly kept, needs renovating, very poor quality 'continental breakfast'. Too pricey for quality/cleanliness.

“We paid way too much for this hotel in terms of quality. Rooms were poor, bedding was cheap, walls thin, breakfast was a joke. Personnel were not professional in dress or attitude. For the $182.00 room rate we expected far better accommodations. I recommend you take this hotel off your list!”

• Very convenient for walking to the beach and restaurants. Umbrellas and chair set ups (for the beach) were available at the front desk for rental.
• The breakfast was extremely limited and facility seemed to be understaffed.

“The location was wonderful. Access to restaurants and the beach is wonderful. However, after reserving a roll-away bed with the front desk, none were available during our 3 night stay. The breakfast was quick and convenient for guests with children, but the selection was limited (donuts, cereal, and toast).”

• They dropped the price $35 for our trouble.
• This hotel is a dump.

“This hotel is a dump. A family member in Galveston made a reservation for us at this hotel. We had no idea which hotel we were going to until we go there. The staff at the front desk are not professional. The room was disgusting. The corner ceiling was sagging from mold. The room was very damp and hot and stunk of mold. When we picked up the phone to complain the phone was broken. The TV emitted a high pitched buzzing sound making it impossible to use. The worst part of all was that the air conditioning didn't work and we didn't realize it until 10:30 at night when we got to the room. There were no other rooms or town or we would have left. ”

• The sounds and sights of the ocean, sea gulls, pelicans and dolphins right outside our sliding glass doors.
• The front desk attendant charged my credit card at check-in, right after I told her that I may or may not use that card at check-out.

“Check-in was a little ruff. My reservation had been lost, even though I called the night before to confirm. The second front desk person I talked with was very helpful and helped me get the best room. We loved our room because we felt like we were out on a boat (the ocean with all it's sounds right outside our sliding door was amazing). We slept with the sliding doors open and it was so peaceful to be rocked to sleep by the ocean. We feed seagull right off our balcony.”

• The only hotel with rooms available when we needed a room. It was very nostalgic staying in the grand old dame of the seawall.
• Very old and falling into disrepair.

“The Flagship has withstood hurricanes, economic downturns and multiple owners. She is getting a very needed face-lift, but they have a long way to go. It's fun staying in a hotel out over the water and I hope they are able to do a complete renovation to repair all the problems.”

• The view from the room and just being over the water.
• The premises were dirty, trashy, smelly, crowded and parking was terrible. There was a public fishing pier at one end that was a nuisance.

“I'm not as happy as I thought I would be. I thought someone took this place over and remodeled it. It gives the appearance of being old and outdated. I've spent less money on much nicer hotels.”

• They upgraded me to a suite. Which was really great since the rooms are small.
• Very small rooms if 4 adults are in room.

• Built out over the water
• It has seen better days.

“Booked 3 nights but left after forcing ourselves to stay one night. Hotel is a total dump. Used to be nicest hotel in town but years of neglect, poor maintenace & management, it is now a disgrace. Staff rude & unhelpful Checked in & sent to room with someone else sleeping in the bed. Sent to next room, that had not been cleaned up from last guest. Third room had no air conditioning. It was 85 degrees outside. Hallways dirty & smelled. Paint peeling, carpet filthy. Stay anywhere but here. ”

• The view of the ocean from the balcony.
• The condition of this place.

“Hotel should be demolished. I stayed there and while jet skiing on the surf discovered the sub structure of hotel in shambles. Then went inside to an old, outdated, dirty place. Every amenity listed was either broken, closed for the season or just not in usable condition. ”
