“The room was dirty, and had a odor to it. Our toilet did not work, so I called the front desk to let them know. I was told that their maintenance guy had already left for the day and there wasn't anything that could be done until the next day. I asked to change rooms and was told they were booked. When I asked how I was supposed to use the bathroom; use the sink?”

“The location and room was excellent, however we had no maid service provided the first day we stayed, and due to 3 small children under 5, we needed it, also when the storm came in, so did the fleas, however once this issue was addressed we had a cleaning lately within a couple hours.”

“Room smelled of smoke and I am highly allergic. Front office did nothing saying that they can't control what happens in rooms. So I spent the evening not being able to breathe and propped up on 4 pillows to sleep. Finally falling asleep around 4 in the morning, I wake up at 8:30 and headed down to the breakfast they say they provided. I got there at 9:05 and they refused to let us eat saying that it is only until 9:00 am. So after nearly having to go to the hospital and getting around 2 hours of sleep we checked out of this hotel room and headed home. I hated this hotel. I hated everything about it. The way it was dirty, they way it smelled, the way I felt like I was going to get mugged when I stepped out of my room and the staff. It was awful. I will only stay here again if I was homeless and needed out of the soaking rain.”

“The hotel was dirty, nasty and horrible. The sheets that were on the bed were wrinkled and looked as if they had been slept in or kept in a pile of laundry to be folded for weeks before. The room itself didn't apprear clean and I felt like I would get a disease if I went without slippers. I couldn't even bring myself to take a shower there. Also, the non smoking room promised had been smoked in like a chimney. I am severely allergic to smoke so I only got about 2 hours of sleep that night propped up on 4 pillows and lots of medication. I almost had to go to the emergency room due to my breathing. Since I didn't sleep good I woke about 8:30 that morning and went down to eat breakfast at 9:05 and found that the continental breakfast that they so willingly advertise ends at 9 am and they felt no remorse for the situation that we had been through that night to even let us have a cup of coffee. They were rude and it will be a cold day in Haydes before I go back there.”

“While the hotel is in a prime location, one street over from the beach, I do not believe I would recommend to any of my friends or family. Our front door was in bad need of new weather stripping, you could see under the bottom to the outside. The bathtub wouldn't seal. The morning breakfast was very good with Texas shaped waffles, muffins, oatmeal, cereal, coffee and juice. The staff was very nice.”

“I was not impressed with this hotel at all. But I got what I paid for. The location and price are probably the best things about this hotel. When I checked in, the lady at the front desk was more interested in paying attention to the TV than the customers. Also, our room wasn't even ready yet. The cleaning personnel were still in our room. When I checked out, the staff that was in the lobby were arguing with each other in Spanish and they were very loud. My 3 year old even told me that 'those people aren't being very nice.' the room itself was pretty large and the ac worked well. The bathroom was pretty gross toilet was lose from the floor and had nasty stuff growing where the toilet meets the floor. Soap scum all over the shower/bath. They advertised free high speed internet but we were never able to connect with it. If you are looking for a one night stay, this would be a good place to stay. Otherwise, find somewhere else to stay.”

“The hotel generally met our expectations. The first night was a bit rough due to noisy guests upstairs from us (not the hotel's fault). The hot tub in our room was nice. Front desk clerk could have been friendlier. Overall, I would rate it as decent, acceptable.”

“Not a good experience. Cheap, great location, but if I return to Galveston, Ill stay somewhere else. There were three of us on the trip I arrived first, alone, with our entire luggage. I was assigned to a room on the third floor, and after lugging everything up there (to a room that smelled like mold); I noticed that the bathroom lights didn't work. I called the front desk and was told that the maintenance guy had gone home and I would have to wait until 8am the next morning. I said that was not acceptable. I was moved to a first floor room and told that I would have to move again the following night, which I didn't end up having to do, thank god. But I then had to lug everything down to the first floor. It took me an hour to check in and get settled. No apologies. The hotel staff just didn't really seem to care. It was a "take it or leave it" kind of attitude. Also, I mentioned the smell. The windows in the rooms do not open and since the hotel is a block off the beach, my guess is that many people return to the room wet and get the carpet damp because the windows don't open, the carpet never has ample opportunity to dry, which results in a dank, musty, moldy odor.”

“If you are planning on sleeping and leaving this is a good hotel. While I was there the breakfast appliances in the lobby lost power; desk clerk stated that it happened the day before as well and they would no longer have electricity for breakfast area. Pool is not as pictured: Poor upkeep.”

“For the price, the hotel was not bad. The room was not in the best shape. The carpet needed replacing (sticky) and the room smelt of old smoke and was musty. I have stayed in worse though. As far as the pool area, the people that used it left alcohol bottles everywhere and no one cleaned up after them. The parking lot was dirty and needed to be picked up. The hotel stated no pets and several people had animals with them. The continental breakfast consisted of two cereals and waffles. Next time we are on the island we will look for something else, even if it is a bit more expensive. We didn't feel real safe here.”

“The hotel was clean and conveniently located. However, there were no in room amenities. No iron, coffee, or shampoo. Also, the online service was weak and the check-in was moved from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm.”

“For the price, this is the best hotel to stay at if you are looking to take a vacation to Galveston. The beach is right across the road as well as many great restaurants. The staff is very helpful and the area seems very safe.”
