Island Inn on The Beach [South Padre Island, TX]- Hotel Reviews

Island Inn at South Padre Island, Texas, is very near to being at a small resort in the Caribbean Islands or Latin America. We are 25 minutes from Mexico and located in the tropical tip of Texas. The sound of the surf and view of the ocean is present everywhere on the property with its tropical plants, views of the ocean, verandas and palapa bar and grill, Wanna-Wanna right on the beach, guests often come for a night and stay a week. There is no need to leave, dress up or wear shoes. All rooms have kitchens or microfridges. Guests walk from their rooms to the beach, to the pool, to the bar and grill or to an umbrella shaded table overlooking the beach. Wanna-Wanna has live music on weekends and seafood fresh from the Gulf. This beach bar was written up by Playboy in 1999 as THE place to be on South Padre. During the summer months, water sports such as scuba diving, snorkeling, jet ski rentals, banana boat rides, windsurfing and parasailing are available on the beach. Fishing is available at all times of the year either in the bay or deep-sea fishing offshore with a variety of experienced boat captains and fishing guides who supply you with gear as well.

The location was nice because you could escape the crowd but still close.
They charged us additional fees.

“We were left with a bitter taste in our mouths when they charged us additional fees after we had personally called them and were informed that everything had been taken care of through. Also, they staff was rude about the situation. They also require all their guests to sign a piece of paper listing what they expect in order for you to receive your full deposit back. In this piece of paper they used unprofessional and offensive language. In addition, the room appeared clean on the surface but was not. The floor was filthy; the sponge given to clean the dishes was old and disgusting. It was also suppose to have a kitchen with utensils enough for eight but it only had enough for four.”

the location and access to beach and the swimming pool for kids is what makes the island inn great

“we have stayed at the island inn 3 times and always have had an incredible time. we love the location and the wanna wanna bar and grill. i will always stay at the island inn every time i go to south padre island”
