  • Location, swimming pool, clean towels.
  • Room smell, air conditioning, broken TV remote, cramped.

“Arrival in lobby: The woman who checked me in was direct and avoided eye contact. Normal procedure without the dreaded mishaps. Keys were given and that was it. Opening my hotel room: I had to give the door a little kick to make it budge open. The first thing that caught me by total surprise - was the heart-wrenching smell. The room was blistering hot with the smell of mold embracing every corner of the room. It was like surprise welcome to your hotel room come here and give me a hug kind of smell. Apparently, the AC had been cut off for a while - which may be a good thing if no one stayed there. If this was the case, then I doubt the towels they provided me were really clean. The AC looked old and worn out. The dial had a hot and cool option. If the room was too cold, you would need to go and turn it to hot. Somewhat tedious. Using the television, lights, and air conditioner: The remote didn't work, so I couldn't use it to change the channels or power off the TV. However, I didn't mind that a few things weren't malfunctioning. The intention of my trip was to see the sights of Austin, not to spend all my time glued to a TV set. Overall: The room is modest and quaint for an experienced traveler. For the price and the location, it's very convenient and suited me well. It's close to a lot of places situated in the downtown area (ride the #37 bus). For me, as long as it has a shower, sink, TV, air conditioner and bed, I'm happy. The worst thing I can say about this hotel is that it reeks of mold. It lingers in the air even after you've cracked open the windows and aired out the blankets. If it weren't for that pungent smell filling every corner of my hotel room, gushing at me like a broken sewage pipeline each time I made a quick turn to the left, then I'd definitely recommend staying here; however, this isn't the case and I suggest to you that if you experience any of these problems that you please stay somewhere else. For your health and safety.”

  • Nothing.
  • After calling me they to confirm they gave my room away.

“My room was cancel on me and I was not able to stay here. I arrived late but called several times to assure the clerk that my flight got in that late and that I had to rent a car and then I got lost. When I called again my room was given away.”

  • Great location if you're looking for somewhere cheap near campus.
  • Not very clean, rude staff, difficult to get to.

“The guy at the front desk when we checked in was sort of rude, and almost upset that he had customers. The woman the day we checked out was very friendly and nice. It was a decent, cheap place to stay if you needed somewhere near campus. It was also right off the freeway, so it got kind of noisy sometimes.”

  • The desk clerk was friendly.
  • Huge (the big kind!) cockroaches in the room!

“I entered the hotel room, tried to turn on Alamo by the bed and the socket (that holds the bulb) in the lamp fell over. I told the desk clerk and he immediately sent someone over to replace the bulb. When he tried it, it worked, later when I tried it, it didn't work. There were no trash receptacles in the room at all. Again, I called the desk clerk and one was brought over. The huge roaches started coming out during the night. One crawled across the bed and I screamed! Oh and yeah, the carpet turned my feet black when I had no shoes on. Filthy! Needless to say I will never stay at this place again!”

  • Breakfast was good.
  • Bathroom was filthy.

“This hotel was not as it was advertised. No microwave/fridge. microwave in one room and fridge in the other. The TV in my room didn't work. When I informed the staff I was told to fix it myself. There was no HBO/cable as sated on the web site. the bathrooms were filthy. Had to put two towels down in the bath tub to take a shower. I paid for two rooms and both were unacceptable.”
