  • The hotel staff was great and we had a great time at the bar in the hotel.
  • I can't think of anything.

“We had a great time, the location was perfect and I would stay again.”

  • The Historic look and feel.
  • Room could have been a little more plush.

“The Driskall was an unexpected delight. The hotel has kept it's "cattle drive" look and feel and is reminiscent of days gone-by. My teenage son was overwhelmed. A hotel like an other.”

  • Excellent location and amazing property.
  • Room had considerable wear that detracted from the overall 4-star experience.

“Great location, five-star staff, opulent, and luxurious.”

  • Too high a price for parking.

  • The staff was very helpful.
  • There is nothing that I did not like. I liked every bit of it.

“Staying at the Driskill was a wonderful experience. The staff was helpful and the reservations manager even came down to meet us and make sure we had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable, and the history of the place made it very special. Our kids learned a lot! And the hotel staff even went out of their way to make sure our kids saw all the neat things in the hotel. I love this hotel!”

“We really enjoyed our stay. The service was genuine and accommodating. We could not have asked for a friendlier staff. The hotel was beautiful and well maintained. Our room was very nice.”

Cleanliness:[8] • Staff:[9] • Location:[9]

  • Location and friendliness of the staff.
  • The valet parking got my car stuck in a garage and I missed an appointment.

“I liked it, but there was remodeling going on and the restaurant was closed, and I don't ever remember the piano being played, which is something I was looking forward to in the piano bar. I ate dinner in the bar area, and service was good, as well as the food, but I feel I should have been given a price break with all that was going on!”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[9] • Location:[9]

  • Dog Friendly and nice property.
  • Not a lot of places to walk the dog around the property due to Downtown location.

“Nice property, good service, charming rooms, valet always says "welcome back".”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[9] • Location:[6]

  • It was beautifully decorated. Lovely furnishings and paintings. Very Texas.
  • No place to park and unload. Had to use valet which was $21 a shot.

“If you want a distinctive Texas experience, visit the Driscill. Beautiful lobby, restaurant, bar and rooms.”

Cleanliness:[10] • Staff:[9] • Location:[10]

  • Location was perfect and the atmosphere was classy and gave us a true Texas experience.
  • The valet parking was a little expensive, but it was worth it in a busy area.

“The Driskill was a beautiful hotel, full of character and history. On top of that, it was within walking distance of the state capitol and all of the 6th street bars and shops. The Driskill bar was a cozy place to relax, and our room was spacious and clean. It made our trip to Austin a memorable one.”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[8] • Location:[10]

  • Beautiful hotel, great location.
  • They gave us the worst room they have, no view and the bathroom was too small. We also had to wait 20 minutes before they found our reservations.

“We enjoyed the hotel but have had better experiences.”

Cleanliness:[8] • Staff:[10] • Location:[9]

  • Great old time very active hotel.
  • Access to the room through mezzaneen for parties. Felt like stored furniture.

“Driskill for the price was a great experience but the squeaky iron bed didn't help the charm. Six street locations is the best attribute. Hotel personnel were extremely helpful and knowledgeable.”

  • Convenient to downtown.
  • Older building, bathroom door wouldn't close.

“Beautiful hotel, but the building is older, the staff is good and the amenities are very nice.”

Cleanliness:[10] • Staff:[5] • Location:[10]

  • The hotel is gorgeous.
  • The staff was a little snooty.

“The hotel is beautiful, and the room was small but adequate. The check in staff was a little snotty, but the check out staff was very pleasant and professional. The only problem was that both the dining room and valet (and there is only valet parking available) were very slow. I spent at least half an hour waiting for breakfast in the cafe and 45 minutes waiting for the valet to retrieve my car.”

Cleanliness:[10] • Staff:[10] • Location:[10]

  • Location, history, lobby bar, friendly staff.
  • They seemed short staffed in the evening, the bellboy accidentally took a pair of pants and it took them 20+ minutes to return them to my room.

“Great location and a beautiful hotel with lots of history. A classy way to enjoy Austin Texas.”

  • Very grand hotel rich with history, attention to detail.

“This is such a beautiful and inspiring place to stay. A grand hotel that is rich with history and style. The attention to every little detail made me feel like royalty.”

  • Location; lobby architecture & design.

“You cannot (or are told you cannot) get to a large majority of rooms (including mine) without going up 13 steps and then down the hall to an elevator. I was not shown the elevator even after I noted I would have to pull my bag up the steps. I pulled my bag on wheels up those steps, wrenching my shoulder, and the pull handle of the bag broke on the top step. (Yes, I told management; no, Ive not heard anything since the incident. When I inquired again, I was shown a lobby elevator.) Coffee was not downstairs in the lobby until nearly an hour after it was supposed to be (and there was none in the room), and the breakfast restaurant was 10 to 15 minutes late in opening.”

  • Historic and beautiful renovated a jewel among chains.
  • Parking fee of $21 a night!

“I'm not sure if they had a business center or the charges, but in terms of a beautiful historic hotel, great fun location, I loved it! The piano bar had out of town travelers gathered around and the atmosphere quickly lent it self to a friendly place. The piano player was witty and had us all at ease. Then you can walk out to 6th stay and have your fill of great live jazz/blue/rock bands to make the night different than usually available to business travelers.”
