• Location.
• The hotel was dirty.

“The staff was okay all thing considered. The plugs sparked a couple times when we plugged in our chargers and they had to turn the electricity off for a while to ensure no fire. The room smelt like smoke after that. The housekeeper also walked in on me as I was dressing without knocking or attempting to knock. I was embarrassed and annoyed.”

• It was quiet and the pool was clean and great location.
• Bathrooms / tub / toilet could be replaced and updated. Beds were too hard for my daughter.

“The staff was very pleasant and our room was ready when we arrived. It was very quiet day and night. We just basically slept there and were out during the day. They granted our request for no cleaning services on the second day and gave us extra towels as needed.”

• Remodeled recently.
• Lobby and breakfast were poor, coffee and old rolls.

• Shady crowd hung out outside of our room and in parking lot the entire night.

“Was nervous to leave items in my vehicle, was not in a safe location, would not have stayed if
I was by myself.”

• The girl at the desk was very friendly and helpful when we had questions about the area. She even got maps and helped us look for places.
• We didn't always get the amount of towels we needed and one day we got no new towels.

• Location, I guess.
• Had to pay $10 more dollars for each room in order to get a double.

“I was under the impression that all rooms were double occupancy. I ended up having to pay $12 more for each room in order to get two beds. I thought I had taken care of everything by phone, but when I arrived at the hotel around midnight, I had to stand in the office for half an hour while they tried to figure everything out. They ended up having to wake up the manager because they were trying to charge me again for both rooms.”

• There is no way possible to describe everything that I did not like in under 20 words.

“The staff was rude. The night clerk that checked me in did not mention an additional charge for anything. The day clerk that checked me out tried to charge me extra and started yelling at me when I refused to pay the additional charge. The hotel was nasty and out dated and the room smelled horrible. I will never stay there again. Steer clear of this one!”

• Proximity and convenience to the San Marcos Outlets.
• Room fixtures dirty, old and torn. Filthy carpet and dirty walls. Overall hygiene needs improvement. Heavy smoking smell.

“Hotel attendant friendly but personnel not helpful at all with the non-smoking room request. They wanted $10.00 extra for a non-smoking room. We had never had such an experience. For being a 1-star hotel, it did not meet our expectations. I am aware that the commodities/amenities for a higher star hotel are very different but we were still expecting to have a clean and smoke free room. I would never recommend the Econo Lodge Hotel in San Marcos to family and friends.”

• The location.
• Filthy, scary, ugly staff/owner.

“My bad experience at that Econo-Lodge was my own fault for choosing a 1-star. Accommodation. The room looked as if it had an autopsy performed on it. The carpet was split in a "Y" shaped pattern that you would trip over and it had shreds coming off of it. Shower water was brown with two dead bugs in the tub and excess human hair. Trash all over the grounds. Horribly rude desk clerk (with her kids behind desk) that had the audacity to request a pet fee at check-out. I advised her that she would not receive that fee as my lap dog is deaf and blind and in a kennel always and did not make a sound during our stay. Besides that room was so filthy that how would anyone know that a groomed dog was even there.”

• Television had no remote control, lamps had light bulbs.

“There was no television remote control to change channels from your bed; lamps had no light bulbs to turn on lamps next to bed.”

• Clean room and good TV channels.
• Bad continental breakfast, small bathroom.

“Right off the highway so very convenient but opened to the outside which isn't the best. Clean room but small lobby with only one package of bought pastries for breakfast, juice maker didn't work. Lots of TV channels.”

• There was blood on the wall by the door, cob webs on the ceiling and lots of hair in the shower.
