“Very nice, historic hotel with beautiful furniture specific to the period that it was built. The staff was extremely friendly and the hotel was clean. The guest room bath did need some attention as paint was peeling of the walls and ceiling, and the exterior shower tiles were extremely old and chipping away. The location of the hotel to the Riverwalk was very good, one city block, although you want to stay on the Alamo and Riverwalk side of the hotel at night, as the park side seemed a little unsafe after dark.”

“Great hotel to stay at. Loved the historic charm. Felt very Old Hollywood Glamorous. Would definitely stay there again! Only this time, with a larger room!!”

“1. Moldy bathroom shower.2. Front desk people are less likely to help if you're booking a room from other website. I called two weeks before asking for two-queen bed room and they acknowledged it, only to find during check-in that it's not guaranteed, especially if the room was book from outside hotel source!3. Uncomfortable bed! 4. For 4-star hotel but only has one elevator working? Really unbelievable!”

“This hotel, while beautiful to look at, was not what I expected. We were her for our 10 yr anniversary, so it was a bit of a disappointment. Also, the bed was extremely uncomfortable. Nice size, but hard and had scratchy sheets and feather pillows which were worn out. Hotel was very clean and well kept, staff was quite friendly and helpful, and the food was good. Parking was pricey.”

“Very nice lobby. Rooms are okay. You can hear everything from noises, doors slamming, talking, even the elevator. But overall, I was happy with this hotel.”

“Asked for foam pillows upon arrival at 10 pm due to me being allergic to feather pillows. Pillows never arrived. I called down the next morning and the pillows arrived.”

“Our stay at the St. Anthony Hotel in San Antonio was an experience that made our trip. The staff was wonderful, friendly, helpful and informative. Everyone had a smile and spoke as they passed. We learned of the history of the hotel, my daughter was able to get her picture taken with a historic tapestry, and shown through out the hotel. It was an exceptional stay. My husband and I will make it a point to stay at this hotel again and again as we frequent San Antonio often. Thank you for our experience. Matthew and Teresa Reed.”

“The hotel is in a great location with plenty to do nearby. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were decorated very nice and were cozy. The room was a bit small though but would still give the hotel a good rating.”

“It is an absolutely beautiful, turn of the century hotel but it could still use some renovations. It could be updated and still have the same charm. I would still stay there and recommend it.”

“Location was good, although it is a little of the main corridor. Bar and restaurant were excellent. Food, drink, and service were excellent. Concierge was very helpful. Counter staff was neither friendly nor very helpful. They seemed unconcerned about a FedEx package we were expecting.”

“This hotel is in need of renovation, there is no hotel parking as such and they recommend the most expensive parking lot in San Antonio. The staff are very unfriendly, the elevator almost knocked me out when it closed on me and the doors would not reopen until my husband forced them to. The coffee machine was broken and when I checked to see what the problem was, I was burnt by hot water stuck in the filter section of the machine.”

“If you like the grand scale of an older motel, this one is excellent. Out room was huge and spacious, and although everything was older, it was very clean. The people on staff were very friendly and helpful. The only thing we didn't like was the restaurant food.”

“Some of the rooms are not so good as others. Some rooms are very small with small bathrooms. Lighting is also in some rooms very poor. Needs an extra table lamp on table for business travelers.”

“Nice and close to the river walk. Older hotel with some nice charm. Parking is a pain with the lot across the street and almost forced to use valet.”

“The hotel has most definitely spent a lot of time and money on the decor of the first floor, lobby and reservation area. However, it's apparent that the rest of the hotel has been neglected. I stayed on the 6th floor and it needs new carpet and a fresh coat of paint. Last but not least the gym is in bad shape.”

“The history of the hotel was really interesting. It has been visited by many well known celebrities. The staff was great. They really made you feel welcome. They were friendly and very helpful when we needed directions anywhere or recommendations on sightseeing. The food was excellent and it was the hotel overall was very clean and just beautiful.”

“The St. Anthony is in an excellent location - very close to the river walk. The rooms and bathrooms were very tiny as expected for a historic hotel. If you aren't okay with a small room, I'd suggest upgrading to the next level room for sure. With that being said, the rooms were very nice and clean and ours was newly updated. They also had cute little doorbells on each door which is very unique.”
