“It looked nice in the lobby, but the room was lacking. It only had one elevator and the breakfast was nasty.”

“This hotel is not the quality expected. The rooms are overall dirty and the mattresses are old, hard, and stained gross, especially for small children. The staff were friendly.”

“We had raunchy room, but it was nice, very clean, had fridge and microwave which for me is almost necessary in any hotel especially when traveling with family. Like sinks outside bathroom for getting ready. No complaints from myside.

“We were traveling with two pets which became a problem and they wanted to charge us $25 per pet when we were told a flat rate of $25. The hotel room was really shabby and I even wondered if the sheets had been changed. Both the bathroom light and one of the bedside table light bulbs were burned out. Finally, the TV did not have a remote control.”

“We had a bad experience. The room was non-smoking but it smelled of smoke everywhere, the bed, the linens, etc. They told us to run the air cleaner (already located in the center of the room on the floor) to clear the air out? Dresser drawers were broken and wouldn't close. Walls were heavily marked and not clean. Burns in the carpet. Recliner was filthy. No TV remote. The front desk was not helpful. Complaints/room concerns were not taken seriously.”

“This hotel was conveniently located near downtown, two miles away. The free breakfast was more than I expected; lots of choices. If you are looking for a non-smoking room then this is not the place to stay. They use ozone machines to mask the smoke odor in the rooms, which, by the way, helps very little.”

“My family enjoyed the Hawthorne and would book there again. The breakfast was a hearty one with biscuits, gravy, sausage, potatoes and more. The location was excellent for our purposes i.e. Isotopes, shopping, airbase.”

“I booked this hotel specifically because it was near the location where I was going to be working and because it offered wireless Internet access, which was necessary for my work. I reserved a non-smoking room. Upon arrival, I could already tell just walking down the hall that my room was not going to be non-smoking, and it wasn't. And the stench was overwhelming. I called the desk and was told there were no more non-smoking rooms available. A maintenance man offered the option of either a can of air freshener or an ionic air treatment that would require me to leave the room for several hours. I wonder why, if they have the option, they don't just treat the rooms automatically just in case something like this happens. Then came the Internet - my laptop detected no wireless connection. I called the desk and was told I had to come down from the fourth floor to retrieve a set of instructions. The instructions did nothing, and I soon determined (by taking my laptop and walking a few doors down through the hall) that the signal strength was simply not reaching my room. I contacted the desk again and was told that they were sorry but their wireless signal didn't reach the rooms at the ends of the halls and there was nothing they could do about it. In my opinion, false advertising - don't say you have wireless net if you can't even get it in ALL of the rooms in your hotel. Considering the average quality of the rooms, it was not worth the hassle. Had to do my work in the fourth-floor laundry room in order to get a net signal and checked out the next day.”

“We had an enjoyable stay at the hotel. The room was cleaned and beds changed each night. The only improvement I would make is adding new soap to the rooms. We stayed for 5 nights and never got a new bar of soap. The small fridge and microwave allowed us to save some money. We would stay again”
