“Grounds are beautiful. The beds we had were really bad, almost unspeakable. They sagged like a hammock. The good news is that they appear to be remodeling and replacing all beds.”

“There are many nice resorts in the area. I would choose one of them. I will not go back to the Westward Look again. I do plan on returning to AZ next year.”

“Well appointed, beautiful grounds and excellent restaurant. Our first room was not clean, lacked many of the amenities and it uncomfortable and outdated. We contacted the staff and asked for a change in room. They were very accommodating, providing us a larger and cleaner room. Our stay was lovely, but the rooms are outdated.”

“I was disappointed in the quality of this resort. The rooms were outdated, the remote on the TV didn't work, the air conditioning was temperamental. Either too hot or too cold. We ate dinner at the gold room. Presentation of the meals were beautiful! However, the chicken was tough and the short ribs were dry and hard. On the bright side, staff were friendly and accommodating. Overall, I didn't feel that this lived up to the quality of resorts I have stayed with in the past.”

“This hotel is in the midst of a major upgrade, which did not interfere with our visit. Public spaces have been upgraded, and are very lovely. The grounds are well-kept. The rooms have not been upgraded yet. Once that's done, this will be a very lovely place to stay. In particular, the mattresses was way too old/soft, and the bathtub area was showing it's age. Also, we could hear a lot of noise from the room above ours one night. So, an upper-floor room would be best. We had a nice breakfast at the restaurant one day, and the staff was all quite friendly. There was a baby owl perched in a palm tree near our room, and the mama owl was in the next tree. Everyone was taking photos of this.”

“Could not check in until 5:00pm. Room was not clean, not vacuumed during 3 day stay, toothpick and dental floss on floor when we arrived was still there when we checked out. Took three calls (two days) to have panties left on the patio from the previous guest to be removed. Found long hair in breakfast burrito. Hotel utility cart blocked in our car. Mattress was cheep and soft ($99 special). Not a pleasant stay. Old and Dirty.”

“I've had cleaner rooms and better amenities at a Motel 6. I was not told of a twelve dollar per day charge to use various services until checkout. We booked two rooms for two days. Our second room was "guaranteed" to be ready by 4pm, but was not ready until after 5pm. There was no follow up to the hotel not honoring the guarantee. We were not told of an automatic twenty percent gratuity for purchases at the hotel. The staff acted as though they didn't care about anything and was border-line rude. Our TV made a crackling sound when turned on. The fans and fan filters were caked with dust and pollen. The skylight in one room had black electrical tape holding it together and had tar streaks on the surface.”

“Hotel is undergoing renovations, yet was fairly discreet about it, which was nice. Our room was pretty nice, with a pretty view of the desert. Everything was wonderful except for the room service our final morning. Frankly, they are lazy about providing good service (but the hotel did remove the incidental charges for room service), but this was the only disappointment in our stay, which was otherwise excellent.”

“The hotel is in a very good and safe location, around plenty of shopping and restaurants. Was not happy about the added resort fee. This was an unpleasant surprise.”

“I would recommend this hotel as long as you are not expecting 5-star/resort accommodations. As stated before, the mold in the bathroom was gross, the fitness center was tiny with only 5 machines total. I also left something in my room and I called the resort to have them retrieve my belongings. Housekeeping has yet to call me back. However, the grounds were wonderful and the spa was decent. I also appreciated the delivery of packages and items to the room. The staff was overall professional. All things considered, I would recommend this location to others with the caveat that some things are not up to par for a resort, as some 5-stars excel in certain areas.”

“Very well located near the foothills. Beautiful view of the city, especially at night. Staff was very helpful. The rooms are spread out, but within short walk of hotel's facilities. We were in a room on the lower floor & had noise from people walk in room above us.”

“As we sat sipping our ersatz resort coffee on our first day at the Westward Look Resort in Tucson Arizona AZ, because the expresso machine was broken, our aching backs kept us leaning on the table trying to stretch out a bit. Our waiter Brett waiter had no idea when the espresso machine might be fixed. The grounds are impressive. Back to our backs and the aches, the beds are old and so soft that it was like sleeping in an upholstered salad bowl, causing us to wake up with our middle-aged backs in agony. The front desk readily acknowledged that the beds were too soft for but that there was no solution until the rooms were renovated. We repeatedly requested to speak to a manager, but the manager was never available, even when asked for by name. Much insistence finally brought the engineering department around to putting boards between the box spring and the mattress, but we ended up sleeping on the floor on cot mattresses as the beds were still too soft and worn out in the center. None of our complaints were related to renovation issue, as beds can be replaced anytime. The beds are so bad that the staff had many excuses ready. Our room had an aging bathroom with mildew and shower flow issues, and the whole bath area just had paint slathered all over it with no effort to smooth out the walls after repairs. Back to the food: as our kids like Cheerios, these were unavailable until the last day of our stay, upon asking why we were told that they did not have the slightest clue which pretty much sums up the staff attitude to any request we made. The entire staff acted as if they were there only temporarily, and requests and complaints just rolled off their backs like water off of a duck. They managed to spill orange juice, milk and coffee (twice) on my wife. We then took to requesting a table, and were told you are not alone. We booked the tennis package, and the bright spot was the experienced tennis coach who has the touch to improve the tennis game of all abilities and ages. He brought our three children along very nicely, and helped our game a lot, even working some of the kinks out our backs. He runs tennis clinics for kids several times per week and effortlessly controls gangs of adolescents with drills and competition. The tennis program staff was less helpful, with refusing to set up the ball machine when our young boys asked him to, and it required the father to request that it be done, and even then it was done over protests that there is no electric outlet on the turf court, and if there was, the extension cord would not reach. Of course there was, and it did. The hard tennis courts are all recently redone, but are marred by cracking. The Astroturf/sand courts are nice. The Gold Room at the Westward Look Resort has good food, but breakfast, lunch and dinner all take 30 minutes to serve after placing orders. One night we tried to reserve for 7 PM, but were told that 6:30 would be better. Well, we arrived punctually but couldn't order until after 7 PM, and the place was more than half empty. The staff just wanted us out of their hair early! On the last day we requested an hour extension for check out from 12 noon to 1, and all clues were found and doubts banished when we were told that there would be absolutely no late check outs.”
