• Generally a nice area
• Some rooms had not been remodeled recently

“In general, the hotel and staff were great. Some rooms had been remodeled recently with nice upscale design, while others really needed attention to bring them up to 4 star quality.”

• Very pleasant setting.
• Would have enjoyed better food on property.

“Very pleasant setting located in the high desert. Beautiful landscape and hotel design built in the early 1960's. Very well maintained property with clean upgraded rooms. I would stay here again. A great place, very enjoyable stay.”

• The campfire s'mores every evening - family friendly and original.
• Rooms are older and not quite up to 4 star quality.

“Beautiful resort and area. The room was oddly appointed and dated. You can tell they have tried to update it, but missed the mark. The resort is 4 star, the rooms are not.”

“Great location. The full moon over the mountains was great! Excellent pool. Dining is fantastic! Staff was helpful when I got stung by a bee.”

• Spacious room and very clean. The bed was the best! It was so comfortable and the linens were nice.
• The restaurant service was terrible. The food was just okay.

“This hotel had a nice size bathroom and the room was spacious. I enjoyed my stay as the staff was courteous and helpful. The hotel is clean and nicely decorated. The only drawback was the restaurant. The service was poor and the food marginal. I tried it twice and was disappointed both times.”

• It was room and private. The whole family enjoyed the stay.
• It was great.

“The hotel was very user friendly. We had a great stay. The restaurant and Bar were nice. The Staff was friendly and very professional. We have stayed there before and will probably stay there again next year when we return. The whole family was happy. Very nice facility.”

• Nice pool (if youre anywhere nears it and not a mile away).
• Room not maintained, dirty carpet, burned out lights, fireplace not working, Jacuzzi tub not working correctly, next to airport, planes at 6:00 a.m.

“Disappointing for an upgraded room I paid a premium price to, management notified of problems, not responsive. Resort has potential with right management and maintenance.”

• The location was fabulous. I walked into town many times. I like also the van service, when needed.
• The reception desk did not give a good explanation of the services at the resort.

“This family style resort has everything; pool, golf, tennis and organized family activities- 3 times a day. Wish the reception desk was more helpful. Great van service.”

• Atmosphere was nice. Great evening entertainment, singing Cowboy. Great Food.
• I've never had a room which faces the courtyard while staying there. Plenty of rooms available.

“Very nice. Beautiful grounds and lobby area. Rooms were good size. Food was great at their in house restaurant. Entertainment was great. Quiet and peaceful. Lobby area is beautiful.”

• Friendly, security (gated), newspaper, coffee.
• A little out of the way from the airport, but great for our reason for travel.

“An out of the way place in the Phoenix area that you probably haven't been to before. Great restaurants, interesting attractions, not overcrowded.”

• Location was beautiful.
• We had numerous problems with the bathroom.

“The shower clogged, even after fixed. The toilet ran unless you remembered to jiggle the handle, this was fixed after soaking the floor twice. Because of cleaning up the floor, we ran out of towels and apparently the "help" doesn't speak English, so it took three requests to get towels. The water in the shower shut off a couple of times because "table got too low" and the had to reset the pump. Very expensive food and beverages. The room was nice and clean. The desk people were nice.”

• Staff, especially Abbie. Heated pool open 24 hours.
• No refrigerator, microwave in rooms, lack of water pressure, $12 per day and tax resort fee.

“We were pleasantly surprised with this resort just up north of Phoenix. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. There are no refrigerators or microwaves in the rooms (strange for Arizona) and the shower water pressure is almost non-existent at some points. But overall we enjoyed our stay. The 24 hour heated pool is awesome although they should ban kids after 8 or 9 pm for several reasons (safety, to give adults a chance for quiet swim time, etc.). There is an additional $12 per day resort fee to cover Internet, pool towels, daily paper, valet parking, etc. but it wasn't told to us when we checked in--just a surprise when checking out. We would go back to this resort.”

• Nice setting, good amenities and good service.
• No refrigerator/microwave. Definitely wanted you to eat in the overpriced restaurant!

“The grounds, staff and facilities were excellent with the exception of the overpriced food options. The hotel needs more shuttle service to town so families can have access to the more reasonable food/service options. They will get more return business from me if the entire experience can be more affordable.”

• Small town feel, not much ado.
• You could hear the people next door as if they were in the room.

“They want you to pay the resort fee of $12 because they don't pay housekeeping enough. If I had paid the $200 or more per night you could have heard me from Tucson to Flagstaff. This is just a place to stay. Nothing fancy. My room was 5 minutes away from any restaurant or pool in the resort. Carefree itself is a quaint little town with plenty to do. Very over priced, I've stayed in Super 8's that were not as noisy. You could see daylight around the door, this is in the desert many little creatures could walk in.”

• Beautiful area.
• Our first room seemed to have mold on the ceiling, rooms were pretty small.

“The first room we were given seemed to have water damage on the ceiling and mold growing. It also had some kind of plant growing out of the area. The A/C in the room was pretty loud and the room wasn't very inviting. The second room we were given was pretty small and not very romantic. The hotel is in a beautiful area and had we had time it would have been fun to walk around the area and use some of the amenities. If the hotel underwent a major renovation I would stay again. Otherwise I doubt we'll be back.”

• Too pricy, not close to anything, charged extra fees.

“The hotel was older than I expected. It charged an extra resort fee that I was not expecting. It was too far from anything. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone.”
