“Stayed here for my friends bachelor party. The casino is looking good. We had a great time playing blackjack. We also enjoyed the cheap shots and beers. Had a late night meal in the diner that was excellent as well. This has to be one of the best casinos in downtown. The location is really close to Fremont St. and many other bars which is great.”

“Loved the new look of the casino. Stopped by for dinner and some gambling after my swing shift on Friday and boy was a surprised at what I saw. The casino is renovated and looking good, table games are open and they have a live band for entertainment. The diner had excellent food for cheap as well.”

“Stayed at the Gold Spike last weekend. Got some really great desk. I had breakfast for 1.99 and dollar beers all night. What could be better? They also have low min on black jack. The hotel had a cool old Vegas atmosphere.”

“Went to the Gold Spike to check out what the new owners have done, I love downtown Vegas, so I am interested in keeping up with the renovations that are going on. The Gold Spike casino floor is easily one of the best downtown. Everything looks much more modern, there are flat screen TVs and the smoky smell is gone. I can't wait to see the finished product. I also loved that the new owners brought back the table games. It is worth the trip and great bar.”

“ Contrary to the review I have read here, I enjoyed my 7 night stay. I traveled alone, walked around at night to Fremont experience, never felt afraid. I met several European travelers (pensioners) who also liked the price and local funkiness. If you enjoy meeting "characters", this is the place. ”

“This was a terrible experience. I'm very disappointed in my stay! This hotel was located in an extremely dangerous part of town. It was run down and not well kept. The pillows and carpet were stained. You could hear everything and everyone on the street below. There were no amenities. The bed was uncomfortable. We did not feel safe there at all! There was nothing golden about the Gold Spike Hotel and Casino!”

“I hated this hotel. It was dirty and gross. I will never come even close to staying here again.”
