“There were cockroaches-which is about enough of an issue to make me really hate a place. The bed was rock hard as were the pillows. The room definitely had not been updated since about 1970 and the staff was efficient but not friendly. But mainly there were cockroaches and when I complained about it nothing was done. Oh, and the AC did not work. We were on a nonsmoking floor and the room reeked of smoke. Ugh, I shudder just thinking about this place.”

“I'm not sure what others are expecting when they head to Vegas. What we wanted was an inexpensive, clean, well-kept room with a nice view of the strip and soft, comfortable beds. We spent three nights in the least expensive room type that Tropicana offers and were pleased with the amenities they provided. The casino is nothing spectacular and neither are the food options available at the facility, but who goes to Vegas to spend their entire time in the hotel where they're staying. The strip has so much to offer, and this hotel was right in the middle of the hottest part - New York, the MGM, Luxor, and Excalibur are all right there! We got everything we wanted - no smoke smell in the room, the place looked freshly renovated (this was mid-March, 2006), and an exceptionally friendly staff. Other hotels may offer more, but if you just want a nice place to lay your head that's a lot better than the average Holiday Inn or other chain hotel, you're in for a treat with the Tropicana. The staff, especially our cleaning lady, were great too!”

“Simply put; we had cockroaches in our second floor new tower room. They upgraded us to a crappy suite. Crappy being: air conditioning had AIR, HEAT, FAN, OFF settings. Mold was on the painting in the bathroom, Bedroom door had to be slammed in order to latch. 'Adult' pool smelled of swamp. (They had this great idea to put beautiful tall plants in stagnant water all around the pool.) Main pool was fine. Adult pool, and hot tub smelled. Swim up bar and black jack is indoors and is closed until Memorial Day. (You'd think it would be open all year round since it is indoors and in a heated pool.) This hotel doesn't offer much. We spent the entire week in other hotels. We figured we'd stay in a classic Vegas hotel, advertised as 'the way Vegas was meant to be...'(little do they tell you it was meant that way in 1970 when built and hasn't been fixed or changed since.”
