  • Close to other casinos, okay if you are on a budget.
  • Staff seemed over wrought. Registration people were nice, though.

“Not a quiet casino, music booms at night, forget conversing with a friend. Sherwood Cafe had a C rating from the health department, noticed it the third time we attempted to eat there. I say attempted as we were kept waiting at least ten minutes for a table in a deserted restaurant. Saw the low rating and went elsewhere. The location is good for walking to other, classier joints, casinos, etc. Tipped the hotel maid five bucks each night and on the fourth night we finally rated a rug on the bath floor and the full complement of toiletries. Had to ask for toilet paper one time as they did not replace an old roll.”

  • The valet was very nice and good about sharing information.
  • The room was run-down, poorly maintained, moderately clean.

“It was really not kid-friendly - our family includes a teen, pre-teen, and toddler, none of which wanted to stay. The sheets and towels were clean, that's about it. The wall of the room had been kicked in and roughly taped over. The non-smoking wing reeked of stale smoke, the all-day buffet was only open from 2-6 pm - we arrived at 8:00 pm after 9 hours on the road, carts were not available to help transfer our baggage from the vehicle to the room, the lady at the counter was surly and difficult to understand through her accent. Oh, and our toddler was delighted to find a whole piece of dessicated bread that some thoughtful housekeeper had left for a late night snack under the table. The hotel looked neat from the outside - but my family was terribly disappointed and we left town to continue our trip as soon as possible, not wanting to spoil the trip any more than it already had been.”

  • Location.
  • Room, unfriendly staff, so-so restaurants.

“The hotel is outdated, the rooms are old, the staff is very non-chalant and not caring. Not a good hotel for business travelers - no set up in the room, you're sitting at a 20-year old table on a 50's-inspired guest chair upholstered in striped velour. Really the worst room I've stayed in in over a year.”

  • Great staff, friendly service and they treat you like royalty.
  • None.

“We always stay at the Excalibur Hotel. The alarm radio had an input for an iPod. The granite look was beautiful. Beds are comfortable. The amount of money spent was reasonable. The pool area is fantastic. Dick's Restaurant is a new place added since we last visited. Very friendly bartenders and a fun place to eat and drink. Seeing that we visit when it is extremely hot, it was nice to walk into an air-conditioned room. Service is great. I especially want to say that during our last visit in August, I was experiencing a health issue with my feet where it was very uncomfortable to stand and walk at times. When we used the valet at the Excalibur, one of the main attendants there asked me if I was ok. I told him about my the pain I was having in my feet and he totally sympathized with me. He was very thoughtful and immediately saw to it that our vehicle was brought as soon as possible. He helped me to the car and was very kind. Every time we needed our vehicle, he always made sure our car was brought to us immediately regardless of who had been waiting first. He refused tips. I want to say that I was made to feel very special and I advised the hotel of this very courteous employee and I will always be a faithful customer of the Excalibur Hotel.”

  • Location.
  • Unclean, unfriendly.

“The room was not the best and there was no widescreen TV; the lobby on the 28th floor smelt and staff was not very friendly.”

“I stayed here back in 2000 and the rooms were nice and the service was good and that is why I went back. Now it is not as good and will not stay there again.”

  • The restaurants were reasonable. The dinner show was exceptional.
  • There is a cigarette smell in many of the rooms. The AC controls in some of the rooms are confusing.

“Over all a good value, however the smell of cigarette smoke in some of the rooms is a little extreme.”

  • Overall, it seems like a good location and fun place to stay.
  • The sewage in the shower, the changing of rates from one night to the next.

“I will never stay at the Excalibur again because of the filth in the shower after we had to ask them to unstop it (the sewage was left in the shower pan for us to have to request it be cleaned). Also, we had to request that a light bulb be put in the beside table lamp - it had not burned out - there just was no light bulb. Due to travel plans we checked out and returned two nights later and they tried to charge us $20 more for a room 5 doors down from the room we were in the first two nights. Then we also keep getting almost "attacked" by people in the lobby trying to sell us timeshares. That did not help make our stay any better. Next time, I will stay somewhere else.”

Cleanliness:[1] • Staff:[8] • Location:[7]

  • On the strip.
  • Many broken items and stained items in room.

“Good location on the strip. However, stains in the bedding along with broken shades and AC unit that didn't work at all, then not correctly really killed the experience.”

  • Nice gym.
  • 20 words not enough.

“This hotel is filthy. It is far from 4 star quality! It is not at all on the Vegas strip! Walking to and from the strip involves stepping over the homeless, being asked for change, and people urinating on a fence of a vacant lot next to the hotel. The restaurant Suede had an awful expensive breakfast. The pool area was a joke. The gym area was actually the only redeeming quality of this facility.”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[10] • Location:[8]

  • Staff was super friendly and helpful.
  • Smoke from casino filtered into non smoking areas.

“We were pleased with almost every aspect of this hotel and most particularly the staff who were very helpful with tips to get around town and also helping with a show ticket snafu we had (our mistake, they took care of it). The only drawback was the smoke coming from the casino filtered into the general lobby areas and shops.”

Cleanliness:[7] • Staff:[2] • Location:[5]

  • Outside appearance.
  • No bath tubs, poor childrens activities, no wireless internet.

“This hotel is promoted as family friendly but if this is so then don't take the family. None of the rooms have bath tubs in them. The childrens part of the hotel was very tacky and sleazy carnival games that appear to promote gambling to children. The sponge bob ride was tired needs a good lick of paint and is very expensive ($45 for two children and one adult for a ride that lasted 10 minutes). The reception area is hard to get to there is no assistance with luggage, and the walk from reception though the casino to get a taxi is approximately 5 minutes. The restaurants were too small and the lines to them we felt were not worth the wait. Overall the hotel is tired and while it attempts to be themed it really is a poor choice if you want a pleasant experience with the family. Next time I would spend more and stay at NY or similar. You pay less and you really get less.”

  • They gave me a free room upgrade.
  • Not flexible with check in time.

“The hotel staff are friendly and helpful but they are very restrictive about the check in time and do not like to extend the check out time. The gaming potion of the hotel is great. Good variety of games and slot machines. The steak house was absolutely wonderful, great atmosphere and service and delicious food!”
