  • It was a wonderful surprise. We were treated like royalty. The resort was beautiful.
  • We had breakfast in the hotel and it was good but the prices were very high.

“This hotel was very nice. It is an older resort that has been renovated. The rooms were very nice and the grounds were gorgeous. Our morning walk was a delight. The best part was the way we were treated by the staff at the hotel.”

  • Nice atmosphere, golf course on premises.
  • $10 fee for self parking that was a long walk to the room.

“Room was very comfortable, staff is very attentive & friendly. Had a great time on the golf course.”

  • Very romantic, old world charm.
  • $15 Resort fee, $10 parking fee.

“Charming, recently renovated, very comfortable beds, friendly staff, heated outdoor pools, Spa, fitness room, pretty landscaping, romantic. Shower in bath was very low. Parking is $10 per night, resort fee is $15 per night extra. Resort fee is for high speed internet, fitness center, morning newspaper. Wish we could of opted out of the resort fee as we did not use the fitness center or the internet while there.”

  • The hotel felt like a secluded getaway. The fountains and grounds were really relaxing.

“Being at the Rancho Bernardo Inn felt like you got away from the hustle and bustle of the city and went to a quiet and secluded place. It was relaxing and there was plenty of comfortable places to sit and rest in the lobby and outside pool areas.”

  • Gardens and
    character.
  • Resort and parking fee.

“It was hard to find. That was frustrating to begin with. We could not find it and when we called the hotel they did not give us good directions. Then the desk staff did not describe where the room was adequately so we got lost and it cost us a lot of time that we did not have because the kids had a football game and ended up because we could not find the room changing in the car. The kids blamed the hotel for loosing their game because they were so stressed.”

  • The grounds were magnificent!
  • Room was smaller than expected.

“Parking was ridiculous! Staff was pleasant but didn't tell us about any activities or what we could do at the resort. I don't think we would stay there again.”

  • Spacious rooms, very friendly and talented staff. Lots of pools so none were overcrowded!
  • Room could use one more comfortable chair or couch.

“Very pleasant, rustic in a purposeful and refined manner. Friendly staff, spacious and comfortable rooms. Truly 3 star quality.”

  • Very friendly staff, large rooms, very attractive overall.
  • Having to pay $10.00 to park when you are out in the middle of nowhere and also the resort fee of $15.00.

“This is a very friendly resort with great facilities. I was there with my 2 daughters for volleyball in Poway so having to pay a $15.00 resort fee per day was a little high and also $10.00 per day to park! But, overall, the resort is very nice and I will go back but on a vacation to get the use of the resort facilities.”

  • The ambiance was beautiful. The service was friendly and the fireplaces were spectacular.
  • The hotel restaurant. The food was not well prepared and too pricy. The service was moderate - need more selections for families.

“We were really surprised upon entering the grounds of this hotel on how beautiful it was. The only downfall was the hotel restaurant - the food was not exceptional and did not compliment the other hotel amenities.”

“I was more than pleased by the hotel accomodations. This hotel exceeded my expectations. I unfortunately was in town for a family funeral, otherwise the resort would have been put to good use.”

  • The ambiance was fabulous as was the entire experience.

“From the entry to the lobby, the grounds and the buildings, everything was fabulous, even the weather which for San Diego is a given. The room was exceptional with a comfortable bed, flat-screen
TV and a covered porch with table and chairs. I wish I could have stayed another day and next time I will.”

  • Excellent combination of business atmosphere and relaxed atmosphere.
  • Waiter at breakfast was bad.

“A centrally located resort in the San Diego area that combines excellent business amentities with a relaxed atmosphere for family and leisure.”

  • We loved the large room with a 42 inch plasma TV.

“The hotel was more than we expected. The facility was gorgeous and the room was amazing with a 42 inch plasma TV and many channels to choose from. We spent most of our trip in our room, rather than at the beach, because the room was so AWESOME!”

  • Quiet, and nice grounds.
  • Down a residential area, and charges resort fees that was not disclosed while check-in.

“Nice hotel for golfers but not really a good place for business travel as such. There were undisclosed resort fees. Did not even get my paper in the morning despite daily complaint to the desk. Parking was not suited to anything bigger than a golf cart. Spaces were too small and so packed together, difficult to get in and out of car. If you are not interested in playing golf during your stay, this is not a business travelers hotel.”

  • Pretty property
  • Added $150 per day for resort fees, port fees and "complimentary" breakfast. Staff is extremely rude.

“My husband and I went there for our honeymoon, on my father's recommendation, as he stays there every month for business. Despite advertising a complimentary breakfast, they charged us between $30-50 for each morning meal. We also had several room service orders charged to our room that were not ours, and they wouldn't remove those charges, even though they admitted the meals had been delivered to another room. Though we were polite and did not raise our voices to the staff at all, the desk clerk was extremely insolent, acting as though it was in poor taste to ask them to adhere to the advertised rates and actually told us they were glad to see us go! After we returned home, we discovered that they had added another $120 in port fees to our bill after we checked out. Also, we were awakened each morning by construction and re-awakened by the housekeeping staff entering our room, even though we had a privacy sign on our door. The private adult pool had children running around and screaming, though there was a separate family pool area. The pools stank of urine. We will definitely not be going back.”

  • Top quality hotel/resort
  • mostly super-rich clientele. extraordinary charges for small things

“This is a great resort, top-quality, but for the super rich. I got a great rate. But the resort added a $12 fee- what a rip-off. I had to talk to the manager to get it waived. The charge for a bottle of water was $6. It seemed they charge a lot for everything, which doesn't matter to most of their (super rich) customers. If you are cost sensitive like the 99.9% of the population, I would not recommed this hotel.”

  • I loved the lobby of the hotel and the interior of the building.
  • The room was isolated from the rest of the building. No view!

“The Hotel was beatiful, but our room was not located in the right area. We did not feel that we were staying at the hotel.”

  • Hotel charged me $12 for resort fee and $10 for parking

“When I asked what the $12 resort fee was about, The front desk staff sternly responded that the fee is non-negotiable and charged to every customer.”

  • Very quiet and peaceful setting. Hotel staff very friendly. Room older but very nice.

“The Rancho Bernardo Inn is a very comfortable place to stay with a personality of it's own. However I don't believe that it is as nice as many of the 4 star hotels I have stayed at. Staff very professional and helpful.”
