  • Location and staff.
  • Bathroom was very basic and small. Lobby etc. was 3 star -not very luxurious.

“Good location, friendly staff, lobby etc. are basic-rooms are nicely appointed but bathroom is small and very basis, not 4 star quality. Valet parking is steep at $32/day- no self park available.”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[8] • Location:[9]

  • Very clean. Very well appointed. Great design/layout & service. Very nice looking hotel & rooms.
  • Doors closed too loud. Heard neighbors doors close as if they were our own.

“Hotel was very nice! very well appointed common areas and rooms. Staff was excellent at assisting us with any needs and the gentleman at the concierge desk was a wealth of knowledge. Proximity to local attractions, 4 & 5 star restaurants, night-life, and a brewing downtown active both day and night was excellent! Taking a scenic walk takes on a whole new meaning. Everything from quiet park-like environs, to a downtown bustling with quant to ritzy dinning, to the local architecture which wow's the viewer, are all available for viewing in a short walk. Loved the location, staff, rooms, etc.”

Cleanliness:[7] • Staff:[6] • Location:[5]

  • Nice hotel. Not fantastic, but quite nice.
  • The only parking option was $35/night valet parking.

“The hotel was nice. We paid the nose for Valet parking. They also had complimentary-looking water bottles that if you drank them you ended up paying $5.00/each for. That's pretty extreme nickeling and diming if you ask me. Also, our bathroom flooded after a shower and we never were able to figure out why.”

Cleanliness:[10] • Staff:[10] • Location:[8]

  • Eager to accommodate needs. Beautiful hotel. Great rooms.
  • Parking prices $32.00 Valet only.

“Hotel had very welcoming and friendly staff. Rooms were very nice and comfortable. Hotel itself is quite modern. Not very good for families with small children due to location. Parking to ($32.00) expensive. Had to go through Valet to get something out of my trunk. I did not have easy access to car, had to go through valet for everything.”

  • Very nice location.
  • No parking, except for valet.

“Perfect for vesting San Diego's Downtown. I had my children with me and it just wasn't as kid friendly as I would like. If it was just my wife and I, It would have been much better.”

Staff:[10] • Location:[10]

  • Great Gas lamp location. Friendly staff.
  • $32.00 a night valet parking!

“Conveniently located at the end of the Gas lamp District this hotel is within walking distance of PETCO Park and all the nightlife of Downtown San Diego. Friendly staff and very nice rooms. This was our second stay here and we would recommend it to anyone! View of San Diego Bay front. The only downsides: Expect some noise at night from the train tracks and it costs $32.00 a day to have your car valet parked.”

Cleanliness:[10] • Staff:[9] • Location:[10]

  • Great location. Near all the establishments that the San Diego Gas lamp area has to offer.
  • Hotel is right next to trolley tracks. During the middle of the night freight trains use track. Noisy.

“Nice hotel. Great location. Freight trains in middle of the night make a lot of noise and blast loud air horn at intersections that are very close to the hotel. Otherwise stay was nice.”

Cleanliness:[8] • Staff:[10] • Location:[8]

  • Great location, friendly staff.
  • Parking was $32/day! And the nearby trains were quite noisy.

“We stayed there twice during our trip and both times found the service to be excellent--every staff member who helped us, from the concierge to the restaurant staff to the valet people, was very polite and helpful. For the second stay we were upgraded to one of their suites in "The Loft", with our own private balcony, which was excellent. The parking fees and loud trains on the west side (which came through 24 hours a day, honking their horns) of the building were the only downsides.”

Cleanliness:[10] • Staff:[10] • Location:[10]

  • The atmosphere, modern look.
  • Parking was a little ridiculous. $32 a night! Should be more like $20.

“Our stay was very pleasant. At first we weren't sure about it, but the cleanliness, the look, the staff was all in all a great experience!”

Cleanliness:[10] • Staff:[7] • Location:[10]

  • Hilton has some of the best locations of any upscale chain. Modern appointed rooms with all the expected amenities, excellent choice of restaurant.
  • As a platinum member of Chilton honor I did not accumulate points. I was not able to get my usual breakfast coupons without asking. No free parking.

“This hotel has the best location in the gas light district. Easy walk everywhere. A great hotel with a good restaurant and breakfast. Very nice modern rooms with excellent beds. No refrigerator, no microwave, no free parking.”
