Cleanliness:[5] • Staff:[6] • Location:[8]

  • Very cool, round hotel, awesome views from higher floors.
  • Smelly room!

“The Holiday Inn Harbor View was an ok hotel. Our room smelled. Parking was difficult and expensive-the hotel offered public parking at $9 a day, but hotel guests had to pay $12.”

Cleanliness:[7] • Staff:[8] • Location:[6]

  • The beds were heavenly.
  • The location was very close to a highway, good for car travel, not so much for foot traffic.

“I cannot say express how wonderful the beds were at this hotel. The pillows were wonderful and the staff was very helpful.”

  • The bathroom was fantastic!
  • The breakfast available was incredibly overpriced.

“Our room had clearly been renovated recently and was quite tasteful. We were on the 15th floor and had great views of downtown and the harbor.”

Cleanliness:[2] • Staff:[3] • Location:[1]

  • Unique shape of hotel.
  • Poor service and broken service promises.

“This hotel is really not meant for a business traveler. Families staying here are often noisy and tie up the hotel shuttle with trips to the zoo which interferes with getting transported to business functions a few blocks from the hotel. Front desk attitude doesn't much help.”

Cleanliness:[8] • Staff:[8] • Location:[8]

  • Nice Location, Parking cramped but adequate.
  • Parking $12 per day.

“Hotel is nice, but watches out for parking charges. Gym is about the size of my closet. Parking cramped.”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[7] • Location:[8]

  • Room layout was good, with free internet access.
  • Disturbance from hotel staffs.

“Overall hotel and room was nice and pretty equipped. Overnight parking fee is not included in hotel stay so extra cost. Also, chambermaid knocked on doors in the early morning even though check-out is by 12 noon, disturbing my sleep, especially when I went to bed late. Even when do not disturb sign was placed on door, they will still knock.”

Cleanliness:[8] • Staff:[10] • Location:[9]

  • Good location, comfortable room with a view.
  • For some reason which I don't know, it was hard for me to fall asleep.

“Looks good with a circular construction and it is very well situated near the 5 freeway and the 163 road. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean.”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[9] •

  • Easy to find location.
  • Public spaces tiny and threadbare.

“It's the Big Round Holiday Inn, there are 3 just like it on the 405 and 5 in Southern California. The San Diego and Long Beach round 20 story Holiday Inn towers have been the same for 40 years, it seems. The one at Sunset Bl. and the 405 had re-named itself the LUXE hotel and gone upscale, which is the direction the other two should consider, as they are getting dated.”

  • $12 per night for parking; next to I-5 entrance ramps.

“Great location with auto or not. Within walking distance to many areas or hotel shuttle accommodating to drop/pick up from reasonable distance. Availability of decent food from cafe off lobby. Friendly, accommodating staff. Decent rooms. Incredibly soundproofed rooms for city noise. Window treatments completely darkened room from city lights.”

“Holiday Inn First Avenue San Diego was a nice surprise. Was well worth the price I paid. A very nice hotel that is convenient to everything. Would definitely want to stay there again.”

Cleanliness:[8] • Staff:[7] • Location:[8]

  • Convenient location near downtown and freeways.
  • Difficult entry and exit from parking garage onto streets.

“Attractive, older design hotel conveniently located to downtown San Diego, Little Italy, Balboa Park, Old Town, Coronado and freeways. Rooms were attractive and clean, some with views. The rooms are somewhat pie-shaped and decent sized but the bathrooms are smallish. There are many restaurants nearby, some within walking distance. Walking on the streets nearby might be difficult due to major intersections, traffic and lack of well lighted crossings. Hotel was quiet and staff was helpful and friendly.”

Cleanliness:[8] • Staff:[9] • Location:[5]

  • The hotel was as expected.
  • The so-called restaurant there sucks. I paid $9.00 for a microwaveable chicken pot pie. The 39 cent kind.

“The hotel is nice as long as you don't eat at what they call a restaurant. I ordered a $9.00 Chicken pot pie and I swear it was a 39 cent Banquet Chicken pot pie. It even had the cheap microwaveable paper mold. It was a total rip-off.”

  • Having to pay for parking.

“Convenient, comfortable, not huge, a good thing, the circular construction is great: no walking for miles to find your room; a good little café and restaurant, friendly staff.”

Cleanliness:[7] • Staff:[7] • Location:[5]

  • Cafe was nice, shuttle was sometimes useful.
  • Location was poor, not close to many things. Views were less than expected.

“Nice Cafe, Rooms were acceptable, Shuttle service is helpful if you can get them to give you a ride. Views were very disappointing. There is a much nicer hotel one block over.”

“Not sure why this hotel deserves an extra half star. Fairly standard hotel room. We were woken up by the garbage trucks outside in the morning (from the 10th floor). The staff were friendly and helpful.”
