“This hotel was okay but would not recommend it for someone who has allergies to mold.”

“Do not be mislead by the resort in this hotel's title. There is no way that this is a resort - there is no beach - that is across town (get in your car and find and pay for parking). But the Marriott is priced like a resort, without any resort amenities. I stayed at 3 different hotels in San Diego on my stay, and this was by far the worst value. Tennis courts, birds in cages, couches in hallways and high priced facials I guess. The Marriott has been located on an old Navy housing area on the bay, over a mile to the beach. Large sewage pipes dump Coronado's street runoff and other waste into Marriott's waterfront. As a local said, the water is not swim able here, but they don't like to let the tourists know that. The pool was average, crowded and cloudy - not much else to do here. Check-in is a late 4 pm. If you would like to get into the room an hour or two early, you can upgrade for $40 plus taxes and fees for a bay view. Cleaning staff could not have the regularly priced rooms ready till after 4, and I was chastised for arriving early. Maybe 1/3 of the bay view rooms may have nice San Diego views, the rest look over the non descript bridge and ship building waterfront. Save the $20/day and park on the street - it's empty. Internet access is only free for your first afternoon, after midnight, you have to pay. There's a resort ferry for $12/person that will take you to the San Diego Marriott - a nice idea, but last return is 7 pm so forget going out for dinner - again get in your car and find and pay for parking. The room is clean and large but lacks simple things like a refrigerator or fan in the bathroom. The toiletries are tiny, nothing special, and include only shampoo, conditioner and lotion and this is a spa. Bring your own supplies because you have to pay resort prices for bottled non refrigerated water and snacks, and there's no store within walking distance, only the sleepy Ferry's Landing (you're on the far side of town) without sit down breakfast. (Though the Italian restaurant has a nice little morning bakery and great espresso). Breakfast is good, but it should be at $20/person, with wait staff that does not smile. Only the hotel cleaning staff offered a smile during my entire stay. Marriott must not pay their workers very well, but they are trained to get the most dollars out of you. Be prepared to get nickel and dime for everything, even after paying top dollar - and you'll start looking grumpy like the staff and other guests. They had no basement rooms to put me in. San Diego is a great city to visit with lots of interesting hotels, Coronado is a very nice town, close to the city with beautiful beaches.”

“Great place to stay, near everything San Diego has to offer. You really never have to leave the island, everything you need like great beaches, food and walks are within a few minutes away. The hotel is really wonderful at night with the lights around the property and the city lights in the background. The pool was very nice and the water was warm enough to get in and not be chilled by the bay breezes.”

“The location was excellent; the amenities for children were a little lacking. The rooms were large but my room has a sub-standard bathroom. The shower had mold and clearly needed recalling.”

“We loved the slightly secluded location of this hotel. It was still walking distance to several attractions. The pool side was the best. Very comfortable chairs and a few fire pits to sit around at night.”

“Loved the location, pool, grounds, cleanliness of resort. Restaurant service was excellent. Room was attractive and bedding comfortable. However, room was musty smelling and blanket in closet smelled like it had been washed and then put in plastic bag wet - could not be used.”

“With the exception of one employee, the front desk clerk that checked us in, the staff was extremely friendly. It was a struggle to check in having to push our way to what we wanted asking several questions. This hotel mentality does not make much sense to me as they could have made a few more dollars on second room but were too greedy. Anyway, the rooms and the bathroom were large, clean and new. Beds were about a 6 of 10 in comfortableness. We had a double room. Amenities were poor. Struggled with internet throughout 3 day stay. Engineers came to look at it twice but really had no idea how to fix it. Wireless never worked had to connect with cable and the cable they provided in room was 2 feet long and did not allow to even reach the desk, so had to ask for a longer one. They also charge $10/day for internet. Had to ask for better pillows. There is no fridge in the room which is not a 4 star resort quality. How many 4 stars have you been to without a fridge and cater to families? They did bring an old one to us after asking about it on second day. The bellman even commented that they should have them. Nice TV but was fuzzy on some stations and could not order movie because it was ($20 for movie anyway). There was no DVD player. They did not replenish towels when cleaning. We did not receive our wake up call on last day. They did give us an extra hour to check out. They charge $25 for overnight parking. There was a boat taxi to San Diego right outside the resort, which was nice. Also, had bike, etc. rentals. We took a town car to airport for $25. When I did mention the issues we had, they did do there best to appease and not have us leave with a negate.”

“It was very nice, the room smelled a little misty/moldy, probably because of the air conditioner. The room was clean, comfortable and staff was pleasant. We had room service and the food was okay. Great location and fun stuff to do all around us.”

“My husband & I had a wonderful and refreshing stay at this hotel. It surpassed our expectations. It is very clean and comfortable. Will stay there in the future. Only negative thing was the valet who would not allow us to park in front of the hotel (a lot of spaces and not busy at time) for check in unless we used valet service (not self parking). There was no other place to park close to lobby. He demanded the keys for safety reasons. It was not the best way to start our stay but once we saw our room and the hotel grounds, we just tried not to think about the rude valet.”

“The rooms were very comfortable. We planned dinner using hotel restaurant information provided in our room. When we went downstairs we found the restaurants were completely different in names and menu. Planter boxes around balcony not maintained - filled with only dirt and dead plants. Didn't get any hand towels at all one day. Little things like that make a big difference to me!”

“Location is close to ferry, shopping and restaurants. The property was well manicured and esthetically breathtaking. Concierge was helpful and informative. Valet and bell hop friendly and efficient. Not as impressed with check-in staff. Felt that we were given false information regarding room availability, specifically one with a view of the bay.”

“Hotel was nice but lacked glamour and glitz. It needed a little sniffing up I thought. The flower beds off our balcony were dead but otherwise it was a nice place to stay.”
