“I traveled over 25 years in my job and think this is the best value of any hotel. They did a beutiful job with the remodel. My wife loved this hotel.”

“Beautiful location, very nice staff. The outdoor public places and the pool area needs a good cleaning. The room we stayed in was beautiful and clean but the public areas, especially the terrace floor where they serve food was absolutely filthy. They need to power wash the floor and clean the cushions.”

“They did charge $22.00 per night for parking. We parked down the street, maybe a half block away. I appreciated the warning from Priceliners before me. The Hotel was great!”

“This is a nice hotel that needs to be cleaned up a little and updated in the public spaces. The rooms are nicely appointed. The service was very good. The hotel is in a beautiful location.”

“Great hotel, except for the parking fees. Their hotel directory needs updating. They state they have two restaurants (one lower priced than the other) but this is not so. There is but one restaurant (the higher priced one).”

“We really enjoyed being away from all the city noise, walking along the waterfront and the resort atmosphere is very relaxing. Access to the city is OK, it could be confusing on a weekday morning though.

“Do not be mislead by the resort in this hotel's title. There is no way that this is a resort - there is no beach - that is across town (get in your car and find and pay for parking). But the Marriott is priced like a resort, without any resort amenities. I stayed at 3 different hotels in San Diego on my stay, and this was by far the worst value. Tennis courts, birds in cages, couches in hallways and high priced facials I guess. The Marriott has been located on an old Navy housing area on the bay, over a mile to the beach. Large sewage pipes dump Coronado's street runoff and other waste into Marriott's waterfront. As a local said, the water is not swim able here, but they don't like to let the tourists know that. The pool was average, crowded and cloudy - not much else to do here. Check-in is a late 4 pm. If you would like to get into the room an hour or two early, you can upgrade for $40 plus taxes and fees for a bay view. Cleaning staff could not have the regularly priced rooms ready till after 4, and I was chastised for arriving early. Maybe 1/3 of the bay view rooms may have nice San Diego views, the rest look over the non descript bridge and ship building waterfront. Save the $20/day and park on the street - it's empty. Internet access is only free for your first afternoon, after midnight, you have to pay. There's a resort ferry for $12/person that will take you to the San Diego Marriott - a nice idea, but last return is 7 pm so forget going out for dinner - again get in your car and find and pay for parking. The room is clean and large but lacks simple things like a refrigerator or fan in the bathroom. The toiletries are tiny, nothing special, and include only shampoo, conditioner and lotion and this is a spa. Bring your own supplies because you have to pay resort prices for bottled non refrigerated water and snacks, and there's no store within walking distance, only the sleepy Ferry's Landing (you're on the far side of town) without sit down breakfast. (Though the Italian restaurant has a nice little morning bakery and great espresso). Breakfast is good, but it should be at $20/person, with wait staff that does not smile. Only the hotel cleaning staff offered a smile during my entire stay. Marriott must not pay their workers very well, but they are trained to get the most dollars out of you. Be prepared to get nickel and dime for everything, even after paying top dollar - and you'll start looking grumpy like the staff and other guests. They had no basement rooms to put me in. San Diego is a great city to visit with lots of interesting hotels, Coronado is a very nice town, close to the city with beautiful beaches.”

“Great place to stay, near everything San Diego has to offer. You really never have to leave the island, everything you need like great beaches, food and walks are within a few minutes away. The hotel is really wonderful at night with the lights around the property and the city lights in the background. The pool was very nice and the water was warm enough to get in and not be chilled by the bay breezes.”

“The location was excellent; the amenities for children were a little lacking. The rooms were large but my room has a sub-standard bathroom. The shower had mold and clearly needed recalling.”
