• It is close to everything, neighborhood is active and safe to walk. Staff is friendly. Many restaurants.
• Rooms are small and parking is limited.

“Loved this hotel. Staff is very friendly and helpful. It is in a great neighborhood with many good restaurants surrounding the hotel. Rooms are small, but comfortable. I enjoy staying there every time I go to San Diego. You won't find a better value in the city. It has a boutique feel with a budget price. I recommend the experience.”

“I drove over 6 hours to stay at this hotel and what a waste of time that was. The staff here was unbelievably rude and not at all helpful from the onset. They lied about parking availability and would not offer any alternatives when hotel parking was "unavailable." both the front desk person and hotel manager were irate and uncooperative in every respect. The manager basically said to get out and get your refund because he did not want to deal with us. We gladly did so as we would never want to stay at a horrible place like this that treats their guests like garbage. What a surprise and what a disappointment this was. We could not believe there were people in the industry who acted so unprofessionally. Save yourself the time and trouble and find a respectable hotel with staff that actually cares about their guests.”

• The location is fantastic.
• Small functional rooms

“It's all about location for La Pensione. It is located in Little Italy with surrounding restaurants and coffee shops. The trolley is two blocks away. The rooms are small, but the front desk service was efficient. A small cafe is located within the hotel with sidewalk seating. The sights, smells and noise puts you into an atmosphere of a small Italian village.”
