• Location.
• Old and small rooms, air condition not working well.

“Was disappointed. Room and bathroom very small, not spacious, sink area is very small can't fit 2 people in that area. Good location. The terrace adds a space but not too secure for kids low railings I think. The room smells cigarette although we requested non smoking room and that bothers us because in the middle you of our sleep our throat got itchy and we wake up with soar throat but no time to argue. Staff so-so. Won't go back too pricey for the accommodation and lastly the air condition is not working well. Warm air.”

• They had a soda, water machine.
• The staff was rude, and angry.

“Since they put me in a room on the second floor over looking a noisy pool, next to the ice machine, soda machine and the elevator, I did not enjoy my stay.”

• Very convenient to cruise terminal, good food on site.
• No free beer.

• Shabby and run down. Even the door molding in the bathroom was eaten away.

“If this is the Holiday Inn, their standards have really gone down. I guess I'm spoiled by the Hampton Inn, even the Best Western's are better maintained.”

• The location was great, right near downtown, and it was very nice.
• We were near the elevators and soda machines, very noisy.

“The hotel on the bay is an excellent place to stay in the San Diego Downtown area. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and the hotel has a nice outdoor pool, comfortable beds, and clean bathrooms. The decor is not very romantic, but more than wonderful for a business trip or a family vacation.”

• Location, convenient to everything.
• Parking fee of $18 per night. Hotel room was dated.

“For the location could not be beat. However, I would never pay the going rack rate others staying there paid $170 per night, when you could stay at the much nicer, updated Marriott with an even better location for a few bucks more.”

• Very convenient location, maid service was excellent, beautiful view of the bay.
• Reception staff was not friendly, our non-smoking room, smelled of cigarettes when we arrived.

“Great location and had an awesome view of San Diego bay. This is a very large facility, with excellent restaurants with in walking distance. The pool and fitness area was well maintained. Some of the staff could have been friendlier, but overall a pleasant experience. Best of all, was the price. I couldn't believe we'd find this nice of a hotel for the price we named.”

• Pefect location.
• No queen size beds, only full. We had to pay an $18 parking fee that we were not made aware of beforehand.

• cost of parking, the sink that leaked on the carpet and smelled bad

• Beautiful views of the bay and the city from our room, perfect location for downtown, right across from the Star of India.
• Would have been nice to know they charge for parking

“A great place to stay downtown - much nicer than the usual Holiday Inn (definitely a 3 star hotel), with attentive staff, room service, views, pool, exercise room and vans to popular locations. My husband liked the free email after the day spent out and about.”

• Right next to the train station, 1/4 mile for the airport

“A really loud, dated hotel in the middle of a 1960's sit-com. It was sooooooo over-rated. I would rate it a 1.5 star moving to a 1 star by 06. ”

• The location on the bay and that you could walk to Petco Stadium.
• There were issues with smoking in non smoking areas and the hotel concierge was less than gracious!!

• The view, room balcony, friendly staff, clean facility
• two double beds instead of queens, the gay political convention, the 20.00 a day parking fee

“The facility was nice and clean, the staff was very friendly and knowledgable, the room was a harbor front room with a great view and balcony for sitting. The staff even provided a crib and refrigerator at no extra charge. There were several areas of interest in San Diego within walking distance from the hotel. We would have like to have known in advance of the 20.00 a day parking fee, however, and feel hotels should validate free parking for hotel guests. We had a very positive experience overall at The Holiday Inn on the Bay.”

• One of the women at the Concierge desk was unfriendly and unhelpful.

“The Holiday Inn on the Bay is a wonderful hotel located in the heart of the city. We were very pleased with the location, the rooms, and, for the most part, the hotel staff. There was a free shuttle to the airport and the zoo. If the doormen are not busy, they will also shuttle you to other close locations, thereby saving the taxi fare. I highly recommend this hotel!”

• Hotel is older and somewhat outdated in the furnishings and upkeep of the hotel.

“Tis hotel is definately not 3 1/2 stars closer to 2 stars.Overall for the age and state of the hotel it was clean and friendly, just not what I would have expected for the star rating provided.”
