“The grounds were 4 star, but the rooms I would give a 3 star rating. Also, I didn't like having to pay a parking fee when there was plenty of parking available and it was on the outskirts of downtown.”

“This is a great 'vacation' resort. The maid service is not good as they left food dishes on the side of the street within the resort for days at a time, etc. But everything else was great!”

“The Rooms had a bad odor, dirty, lost hot and warm water, both beds squeaked, bathroom door did not shut, not our hairs all over the place, restaurant was dirty, milk curdled in my coffee, rear door lock broken, lime deposits all over tub, shower head had so much lime deposits it wouldn't move properly. In a nut shell, a pretty lousy hotel.”

“We enjoyed ourselves tremendously. The staff if wonderfully helpful and friendly and we were treated extremely well. The desk clerk went out of her way to give us a location we wanted and a refurbished room. We would definitely want to go back.”

“Was never told about the $22 parking charge, perhaps I could have booked a nicer hotel with parking included if I had known and been able to take that into consideration.”

“It was very nice but the rooms should be updated and cleaned better the beaches weren't as clean as they could be and the food was ok. But the pool was great the staff was excellent and the resort was very well maintained.”

“This hotel was very nice as a two star hotel. The rooms were clean, and felt newer. The garden view from the second floor is a nice area to be and request. The staff were very nice and helpful. We felt safe, and at ease here. We relaxed and it is just a couple blocks from the main Disneyland park with many restaurants close by. This hotel saved our vacation as the resort we were at before this hotel was a nightmare. Thanks for the nice stay! The pool is an Olympic sized pool and has plenty of room for everyone. I would recommend this hotel, as long as you get the right room location. They take requests to suit your needs. They also have a nice sized tourist shop incase you didn't have time to get all you needed at Disneyland for your friends and family back home.”

“This is an older timeshare type of drive up motel room. all single level built in a California 60's style layout. Furniture worn and poor quality. Old small TV. Concrete wall, old very small bathroom. There was newly laid commercial grade carpet. The edges were not finished and unraveling. Parking was outrageous for a non-city or downtown property at $22 per night.”

“This is not a 4 star hotel. The grounds and landscaping was 4 stars, but the room itself is more in line with a 2.5 star hotel. They are trying to go with antique look with all the furniture and fixtures, which I can appreciate. But even taking that into consideration the room still looked dated and old. It seems as if the hotel uses the antique look as an excuse to keep things low maintenance. Also, the bathroom was tiny and in no way fit the decor of the rest of the room. Meaning, the antique look goes away when you get to the toilet and shower area and it's just a plain, white, 2-star level bath that's extremely tiny.”

“The location and surroundings to the hotel were wonderful. The food was quite good, but the housekeeping needs some help. The bathrooms- shower wasn't clean to my standards. The pools and beach were great and the other amenities were nice for the stay.”

“The property is worn and the grounds are somewhat overgrown, and the rooms, while not dirty, also are not up to 4-star standards. One particular complaint is that there were bugs flying around in our room when we arrived. The air conditioning units are motel-style, old, and noisy.”

“I was very disappointed. The room was old looking and feeling. It had a stale odor that had to be aired out whenever I came back to the room. The heat lamp in the bathroom was broken and it took over 24 hours to get it replaced. I felt ripped off, because of the star level. The week before, I stayed at the Hilton at Torrey Pines for less money and it was indeed a 4 star hotel. I expected at least the same, and was terribly let down. You would be well served to lower the star level of this hotel and I would not refuse if you were to refund some of my money.”

“Overall, it was a nice experience and great place for a family. I was a bit disappointed in the unexpected extra charges. The food was average and a bit pricey for quality in the causal restaurant, the only place we ate. Staff was very nice and helpful, especially the concierge.”

“After checking in and seeing the terribly run down state of the entire Paradise Point Resort hotel and the room especially, I insisted that I be accommodated elsewhere. The Hilton Torrey Pines was fabulous and precisely what I expected for a 4 star accommodation. I travel extensively nationally and internationally and am certain that this hotel should be dropped from your list.”

“The rooms were dark, smelly and poorly lit. Our room had not been cleaned prior to our arrival. The reason I was told was the people who were in this room demanded to be moved prior to our arrival. I was not able to stay in a real 4 start hotel.”

“While this hotel was fine, it certainly didn't meet its 4 star rating. It needs renovation - our room had a rusty tub, for example. We also had a few problems with ants and some kind of critter scratching around under our tub. That said, the room was functional and the grounds were nice. Still, it didn't meet my expectations for a 4 star resort.”

“Very disappointed in the accommodations. Room smelled bad. Room had dirty smudges on walls. There were ants in the bathroom. Foldout bed was unusable. Was not a 4-star hotel. More like a 2 1/2 star hotel. I was very disappointed with the whole experience.”

“This resort is DEFINITELY not a LUXURY 4 star hotel. The bathtub had a large rust area around the fixture and was in need of a renovation. The plumbing on the faucet in the sink was installed backwards. When you turned the faucet to hot, according to universal "code" and per the red dot on the handle, it should have been to the left. My kids turned it to the right to get cold water to brush their teeth and hot water came out. Very dangerous and I can't believe that no other guest pointed this out to them. I told the front desk and didn't get much of a reaction or an apology. There was a large hair ball on the floor in the bathroom which wasn't ours because it was blonde. Several times we tried to call to the concierge to get info and no one would answer. When I did get through one time I was asked to hold for a moment and then I proceeded to hear the entire conversation the person had with another guest he was helping rather than being placed on hold. Just very unprofessional and not at the top of the service game like a 4 star luxury hotel should be. When we saw the brands typically associated with this level, Hilton, etc. we anticipated something equal to that and we were very disappointed. The only thing this place has is the location is good but I would certainly drive further for better service and room quality.”
