“Overall I enjoyed this hotel and it was definitely worth the price I paid for it via Priceline. The grounds and pool are beautiful and very well kept. The rooms are a little older, but very clean and nice. The bathroom is tiny and shows its age a little more. The rooms are probably 3.5 star level, but he pool and grounds probably take it to a 4. Be aware of $19 a day parking charge. You may be able to park behind the hotel on the street between the hotel and the entrance to the bay. I saw vehicles parked there and it is a public street, so it should be legal and free. We just found it too late. Also be aware that the hotel's credit card machine triple charged us the $75 per day incidentals hold. We did of course get it released in a few days, but it is something to be aware of. Still, worth the price for sure.”

“We were very disappointed with the Hyatt Newport. The week prior to staying at the Hyatt I had stayed at the Westin in downtown LA which is also a four star hotel and the Hyatt Newport didn't even come close to the level of service or accommodations that I enjoyed at the Westin. Room was two double beds when I had requested a king. Upon explaining this I was told the only other room they have was a handicap room with a King. We begrudgingly accepted this room but were not impressed with the room. Putting aside the fact that it was a handicap room, the bathroom was dirty and it looked like someone had spilled coffee on the wall which had not been cleaned. Additionally the bathroom did not have any decor and looked like a bathroom out of a hospital or nursing home. The towels in the bathroom were gray and the same quality of thin towels you would expect from a motel 6 not a four star hotel/resort. Overall we were very disappointed with the hotel and will not be returning to the Hyatt Newport.”

“Overall, the hotel was a wonderful bargain at the Priceline rate. I thought the parking fee was bit expensive. I chose the less expensive option of self parking and that still cost $19/day, plus it was located a bit far from the room.”

“We had reversed 2 rooms and when we got there had requested a joint room since we were traveling with our four children, a 9 year old and 1 yr. old triplets. When we got to our room the rooms weren't joined so we ended up on the phone to get that fixed and explained our situation once again, when we went to our room the rooms were on the 2nd store. When my husband called back again, he was informed that those were the only 2 rooms left that were joined. Also one set of room keys wasn't working but they had new cards sent to our room in less than 5 mins. The price of parking was way over priced so we ended up parking on the side street for free. The rooms were nice but needed a deep cleaning ie., carpet cleaning, mold removal from bathroom, painting and wood repair around the doors. The bathrooms were nice minus the mold and I would have expected a larger tub for the 4 star rating. The beds were comfortable and the larger TV was a nice feature for our 9 yr. old. Overall, the only real complaint/issue we had was the joined rooms being on the 2nd fl. and we had to be creative with the babies & stroller each time we left/came back. We're already planning another trip back to relax and hopefully we'll get a cleaner room on the 1st floor.”

“We were disappointed that we had 2 full size beds for our family. But once we got to the room, it was HUGE. Even our kids commented on the size. We are used to staying in condo/Timeshare facilities, so it was a great size even compared to those (that are usually big). Our room even had a twin daybed set up in the corner and still had lots of room. We were right off of the pool and it had a nice cabana feel to the rooms. We stayed 3 nights and although we didn't use the facilities because we were gone all day, we were pleased with our stay.”

“I was expecting a 4 star hotel but it didn't live up to the expectation. The room was fine except for the fact that the bathroom was older with a small amount of mold in the shower and the tub drained slowly. I was disappointed that it cost $19 to self-park. The grounds of the hotel were beautiful.”

“This is not a 4-star hotel. It is more like a 2.5-star hotel. Although the rooms are fine, they are small, and there is a motel-like exterior walkway that prevents you from leaving the curtains open. The hotel exterior and pool area is very dated and feels somewhat run down. Parking is $19 per day and is fairly far away from the rooms. I would recommend this hotel for business travel only, not for a leisure trip.”

“Place need upgrade, although near everything (the beach, shopping centers, and local tourist spots). The hotel itself needs to renovate the looks. Not up to par in terms of aesthetics with other Hyatt Hotel, or some hotel in the area.”

“We were traveling with my parents (81 and 76 years old). I did not ask, but we were on the ground level so my parents did not have to climb stairs. We had a short walk from the parking lot, around the pool area, and on the back side of the hotel to a private area of rooms. Our rooms looked out onto the inlet boat dock. The drive through area at the front door was welcoming, and Vince, the valet, was hospitable. Our room was tidied up daily and it looked as fresh when we returned at the end of the day as it did when we firsts arrived.”

“We had to switch rooms 2 times and never did fully get what was requested. My husband and I wanted 1 king but ended up with 2 double beds. After speaking with a supervisor because the original person we spoke to was rude, we were comped parking. I did love the hotel and the ambiance of the site and rooms so I would like to go again but won't accept being lied to or rudeness from staff.”

“Hotel was really great--especially considering I waited until the last minute to book it. It was clean (except for spider webs on the balcony). Pool was excellent. The staff was very quick and friendly.”

“We were very unhappy with this hotel. We felt that we were treated poorly because we were priceline customers. Rather than a King or even two Queens, we were give a room with two doubles. Additionally, one day during our stay the water was shut off without any warning. When we called to inquire why were unable to shower, the front desk was very rude and very unhelpful.”

“This hotel was just okay- nothing special by any means. Granted it had 3 pools and outdoor activities like ping-pong and such but that did not make up for loss of water in our building on our last day. The staff was unapologetic saying "we can move you to another room to shower" and saying "there's nothing we can do" when I explained I felt the hotel should do something about the inconveience (i.e. some sort of discount/refund)- all this to no avail. Spend a little more and get a nicer place!”

“Beautiful hotel that was a perfect retreat. We had planned to go to the beach but we never made it because the hotel was so inviting, we did not want to leave. Fun extras for the kids: free ping pong and shuffleboard. We enjoyed our stay!”
